Sunfire lead the patrol with eager eyes. It was his first time leading a patrol, so he was sure to make it go as smoothly as possible. Leading the patrol of four down the familiar path, he hadn't heard the dogs until it was too late. The huge mutt burst out of the undergrowth, it's jaws clamping down on the tom's leg. The ginger tabby shrieked and tried hitting back, but his claws didn't seem to deal any damage. Another dog raced forward to join its partner. Pain seared through his body as flesh and fur was ripped out. The rest of the patrol was screaming and trying in vain to attack the dogs, but it was too late.

The first dog threw his limp body against a tree, where it slid down the trunk and landed on the forest floor with a thump. Other pelts flashed back and worth in his vision, but Sunfire could no longer make sense of it all. The tom struggled to his paws before the world went black and he fell unconscious onto the dirt.

OOC: Sunfire hasn't died yet, but he will be carried back to camp where he dies of infection. Feel free for your cats to attcak the dog, run away, or chase them.

It was a nice day until everything went wrong. Goldenfern screamed as teeth ripped apart her brother. Blood splattered the ferns around her as she watched, motionless, as Sunfire was flung aside like a piece of fresh-kill. As the dogs turned again to finish off the tom, she found herself lunging at the dog with her claws outstretched. Rage burned like flames in her as she clawed at the dog's eyes, sending the mutt howling and a face dripping with blood.

OOC: hope it's okay that I say Firefly was just nearby to help. She took a hiatus from TC after the gathering and could return with this patrol.

IC:
Firefly- her path of destruction caused by the anger of the events at the last gathering -had been nearby when she heard shrieking of cats and the barking of dogs. A new pattern for ThunderClan as of late.

It took only moments for her to forget about the actions of Mottlestar to turn into fear for the clanmates that were directly involved with one of the dogs.

She took a running start at Dog #1, twisting her russet body as she slid across the ground underneath it, raking sharp, angry claws across its belly.

Firefly used Belly Rake on Dog #1, dealing 15 damage and costing 25 SP.

Goldenfern shrieked as the dogs attacked, and teeth ripped at her fur. Her golden fur grew heavy with blood, and she stumbled away from the dogs. Was this how her life would end? Gasping for breath, she lunged forward again and clawed at the dog. Please, don't let her clanmates die. She risked a glance towards her brother's crumpled form. He needs a medicine cat now, but how could they get him back to camp when they were already outnumbered against the dogs?

This was going south very fast. Not only was time running out for Sunfire to be treated, Honeypaw and Goldenfern were fighting for their own lives.

For the first time in Firefly's life, she didn't think once about the fact that some of these cats held no ThunderClan blood whatsoever. In this moment, these were clanmates on the verge if death. And that was... terrifying.

Firefly used Front Paw Strike paired with Thunderous Stomp, dealing 11 total damage, and costing 17 stamina. Dog #1 is stunned for 1 turn.

The fight was increasingly more difficult, as the cats attacked again without signs of stopping. The first dog howled with pain as it was attacked, and laid on the ground to try and catch its breath. The second dog growled and lunged forward again, gripping the smallest cat in its jaws and tossong it to the side.

The first dog yelped as more claws dug into its pelt. It seems that this would be a futile effort to try and kill the cats, not unless it wanted to lose its life. Growling, the dog shook the cats off it and stumbled away, limping from that awful wound in its leg. The second dog growled a warning to the remaining cats, as if to warn them off, before crashing through the undergrowth to assist its partner.

OOC: ending it here because I don’t want to drag it for too long and also I don’t think Goldenfern and Firefly could actually win the round without another of them being knocked out.

Thankfully, the dogs finally saw sense and retreated. Goldenfern darted to Sunfire’s side, pressing against her brother’s blood-soaked flank. To her relief, the tom’s flank had the faintest rise as he breathed. “He’s still alive!” She gasped, scrambling to her paws and looking over at Firefly. There was a chance that Sunfire could still live. “Get Honeypaw! I’ll carry Sunfire,” she ordered, already heaving the large tom over her back and stumbling towards the camp. There was a look of urgency in her eyes as she headed back.
