Open hunting

Tawnyshadow crept soundlessly through the shadows, intent on a scent trial. She glanced back at where the rest of her patrol was, ensured that she had not gone too far, before switching her attention back to the prey. Thought of Dawnkit flashed through her mind; was it frog that the she-kit had said she liked, or was it mouse? either way, she needed to hunt down prey to feed more than just Dawnkit, so she quickly pushed that thought away.

Placing a paw in front of the other as she slowly inched towards her prize, her eyes narrowed and she tensed, before lunging forward. Tawnyshadow felt her claws rip through the thick fur of the hare and quickly snapped the creature's neck. She then dragged it back towards her patrol, feeling just a bit satisfied at her catch. Such a large prey could surely feed a few mouths.

Batswarm was once again going through the motions of a warrior, entire body tensed in disgust at the thought of getting blood or dirt on any inch of him. But he had to continue to give proof he was even doing the bare minimum.

That being said, he didn't crouch down or wait in the shadows for his prey. The muted calico tom sat upright, waiting for something to flop into his claws; even a toad would be enough. And it was! A toad had jumped from the brush directly into his path. A swift stomp put the filthy creature out of order.

Sagestone purred as Tawnyshadow dragged a huge hare back to the patrol. "That's a really neat catch, good job," He praised, flicking his tail over the she-cat's ears fondly. Tasting the air, he waved goodbye and plunged into the shadows, following a new scent trial.

His head poked out from behind some brambles as his gaze falls onto a plump frog. That was Tawnyshadow's favourite, wasn't it? Crouching down, Sagestone stalked towards the frog until he was close enough to pounce. He lunged forward and snatched the frog mid-jump, killing it before it could make a sound. The tom proudly carried his catch back to the patrol and dropped it at Tawnyshadow's paws.

Tawnyshadow flicked her tail, pleased at Sagestone's compliment. The tom disappeared into the shadows, returning heartbeats later with a frog, which he laid at her paws. Her favourite! Did Sagestone remember that little detail? She purred and leaned in to press her muzzle briefly against the tom's cheek, then laid the hare next to the frog and turned away for another catch.

Her paws slowed as she picked up the scent of mice, and she dropped silently into a crouch. Tawnyshadow stalked towards the mice, her yellow eyes narrowed to slits. Without a sound, the she-cat lunged forward, her front claws glinting in the dim light.

Suddenly, talons flashed at the edge of her vision, and Tawnyshadow twisted in time to dodge a diving bird. The owl straightened, turning to face the warrior. Tawnyshadow bristled and unseathed her claws. How dare that owl interrupt her catch! She lunged forward, knocking the owl out of the sky with a strike straight to it's body.

Annoyance that ShadowClan seemed to be filled with so many predators lately, he groaned. He may have chosen to flee if there hadn't been so many cats around... Not out of malice, or anything! Sometimes you just had to save your own pelt.

Poppypaw was just hunting until a fight broke out. Quickly making his way towards the battle, the young tom rammed himself into the bird, trying to knock it off his clanmates.

The owl shrieked in pain as two other cats joined the she-cat's assault. Enraged with pain, the bird lashed out with its talons at the first cat, leaving red slashes along the warrior's pelt.

Tawnyshadow cried out as sharp talons raked her face. Thick, warm blood trickled down her muzzle, and she blinked several times to get the blood out of her eyes. The warrior crouched down and lunged upwards, her teeth snagging into the owl and dragging it to the ground, where she quickly killed it.

Sagestone heard the sounds of battle and found himself racing to the scene just in time to find Tawnyshadow finishing off a huge owl. Three claw marks scarred the she-cat's beautiful face, and blood flowed freely onto the she-cat's chest, mixing with the owl's blood. His heart leapt into his throat at the sight.

Sagestone rushed to Tawnyshadow's side and pressed against her flank. He licked the blood off her muzzle, wincing at the bitter tang on his tongue. "Are you alright?" He asked, eyes filled with concern.

Tawnyshadow smiled at Sagestone's concern. How lucky she was to have such a caring friend. "I'm fine," She assured him.
