Let the hunting begin! (Open hunting patrol)

Swiftstep got out of the warrior's den and stretched. He began to walk over to the apprentice's den to wake his apprentice. Once he got there, the tom searched for Wolfpaw's pelt. He nudged the apprentice to wake him up. "Wolfpaw, wake up! We're going on a hunting patrol so please hurry. Meet me at the camp entrance!" he said. The warrior soon left and sat by the camp entrance. He looked around, waiting for a few others to join them.

Yawning, Poppypaw padded out of the apprentice den. "Can I join you?" she asked Swiftstep, walking over to him.

Wolfpaw woke up blearily. He thought about what Swiftstep had said. Ugh, just a hunting patrol... wait, hunting patrol!? He jumped up and shook the sleepiness out of his fur, exiting the apprentices' den. He walked over to camp entrance. "I'm ready, Swiftstep!"

Swiftstep grinned at Poppypaw, his adopted daughter. He nodded to her. "Of course sweetheart! We just have to wait for my apprentice Wolfpaw." he said. After a few moments, Wolfpaw had made it to them. He got up and gave his apprentice a smile as a greeting. "Okay you two, let's go!" he said enthusiastically.

The tom led the apprentices to one of his favorite hunting spots. He turned to address them once they made it. "Okay you guys, you may hunt freely but make sure to not go too far. If you decide you had enough, come back here and wait for the rest of us to come back." With that, the warrior left to go begin hunting.

Poppypaw turned to Wolfpaw. "I bet I can catch more prey than you!" she challenged him, before dashing off to find prey. Finally, she spotted a small rabbit sitting still in the snow. She stalked a little ways further, and then she streaked up behind it and pounced. She snapped its neck with her paws after struggling with it for a moment. She picked up the rabbit by its scruff, thankful that it was small so she could bring it back to where Swiftstep had brought her and Wolfpaw without too much trouble.

"Not if I have anything to say about it!" He ran the other direction, in the direction of a squirrel. You don't belong here, little woodland creature. He ran full speed towards it, dirt flying and it saw him, running away. There were no trees for it to scurry up, so it had to find a hole. He took a big leap and landed directly on top of the plump squirrel, snapping its spine and killing it. He looked around, and picked it up to take it over to Swiftstep.

Swiftstep chuckled as his daughter and apprentice were making this hunting patrol a competition. After leaving, he went after a rabbit he spotted a little ways away. He readied himself before going for the kill. The warrior quickly pounced and hoped that he caught it. Swiftstep quickly caught it and then hid it. The tom went to try and find another critter to catch.

Wolfpaw dropped the squirrel onto his newly made "pile" and rushed off to find another piece. He scanned the territory and saw a rustle of brownish fur. A hare. This is more my speed, He thought, chuckling(sounds like something an elder would do) laughing at himself for the pun. He ran after it and leaped, landing on where the hare had just made dirt. Although, rabbits just left it sitting out wherever. Hare dung! He thought and continued to be proud of all the jokes he had made. I'll tell Softpaw about it later. He'll find them funny, I'm sure. He ran after the hare, taking a big jump and landing squarely on its back. He quickly bit its neck, putting the prey out of its misery. He trotted back to where his pile was.

Poppypaw spotted a hare running across the open land, so she took chase, getting closer and closer before she pounced. She caught it quickly and dragged it back to the rest of their prey.

Swiftstep decided to begin stalking an unsuspecting bird. As he got near it, he readied his haunches for the lunge. After a few seconds passed, he pounced on the creature. He caught it without trouble. The tom hid his catch with the rabbit. The warrior decided that one more prey was good and then he'll wait for the two apprentices.
