Deerkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Nightstalker was glad that Deerkit's apprentice ceremony was not far behind his sisters. He would have hated to force them to train separately from each other, a few days already would make such a big difference. But he understood for the delay, a few sniffles needed to be watched and cared for before going into apprentice hood after all. So it was with great glee that Nightstalker pounced onto the rock, though one wouldn't know it if they didn't know him.

"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!"

Lightpaw was quick to scamper over to the Jaggedrock. A meeting! She hoped it would be the ceremony for one of her brothers. A quick glance over to the nursery, where Snowfoot was cleaning Deerkit, confirmed her suspicion.

Snowfoot sighed. Another of her kits would be apprenticed today, they were growing up so fast! As she finished grooming her son, she gave him a nudge outside. “Go. Make your clan proud,” she purred with a smile on her muzzle.

Deerkit waited patiently until Snowfoot was done washing him before padding into the center of camp, his tabby tail held high.

How time has passed, his two little sisters had grown to be warriors and were already ready to receive their apprentices. He hoped that his decision making skills were not faulty in any sense and that he'd made good matches for these young cats. They'd learn off each other after all.

"Deerkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Deerpaw. Your mentor will be Echomist. I hope Echomist will pass down all she knows on to you."

"Echomist, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You are an excellent warrior and you have shown yourself to be patient and tenacious. You will be the mentor of Deerpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Deerpaw."

Him an apprentice? He never expected anything like that given his quiet.. and rather avoidant nature, but at the same time it was only a matter of time considering.. well everything. So the spotted tom forced his surprise away, and approached his new apprentice. "We will start tomorrow." He told Deerpaw simply.

Deerpaw straightened his legs to reach the mottled tom, touching his nose dutifully with his new mentor's. "ok," he agreed.

“Congratulations, Deerpaw!” Lightpaw exclaimed, giving her brother a quick head bump. “I hope we get to train together!”
“Congratulations, son,” Snowfoot said. “And Echomist, congratulations on your first apprentice.” She could hardly believe it, Echomist with an apprentice! Seemed just yesterday she was over by the nursery trying to chat with the whole litter at once, and now here they were all grown up.
