Heaven Beside You [Dovefrost]

Despite no longer being a medicine cat and her own restless sleep, Beechfang had never quite managed to kick the habit of waking up early. As such, she was wide awake for the dawn patrol, and often preferred them to patrolling later in the day. Splitting off from her patrol to do some hunting, the dark forest cat that had followed her seemed content to drive prey toward her claws rather than make a nuisance of itself. After about an hour, Beechfang had found herself near the Thunderclan border. She normally kept well within Skyclan's territory, but the idea of seeing Dovefrost here was one she rather liked. That Dawnhawk had ceded the fallen oak to Thunderclan was something she found unfortunate, but Thnuderclan had never been a true enemy to the disillusioned she-cat. Least of all their medicine cats.

Beechfang's ears pricked at the sound of approaching pawsteps, though she was careful to stay on the Skyclan side of the scent markers. She was not here to fight, and it showed in her posture. Hopefully whoever this was would recognize that.

'Invasion Dice' :

Dovefrost was out on a walk when he found his paws taking him to the Fallen Oak. His mind recalling the conversation he shared with Beechfang a while ago. Something was different about it, something he couldn't put his nose on. However he longed to see her again. Maybe his paws were guiding him to seeing her again?

The white tom emerged at the Fallen Oak, expecting to see nothing, but his eyes widened when he spotted Beechfang. That stars were really on his side today. "Beechfang.." He breathed out before stepping over to her, careful not to cross the border. "How are you? How is Skyclan?"

"Dovefrost," Beechfang greeted the medicine cat with a smile, "It's good to see you." She added. "I'm alright, Skyclan's... We'll get through this. How are you?" She found that she didn't quite care as much about Thunderclan as she did about Dovefrost... And didn't really care that she cared more for their medicine cat than she maybe should.

Dovefrost had a small smile on his maw as she responded, glad his wish to see her had come true. "Thunderclan is okay, we are hanging in there. I'm sure you heard the whispers going around." He was happy to know that the final stand was coming soon, but how soon he wasn't exactly sure. "Of course I'm a little worn out, but that comes with being a medicine cat."

"Good," Beechfang replied. Somehow, it was easy to feel a little more optimistic around Dovefrost. Perhaps it was the surety with which he spoke. Thunderclan could get through this, so would Skyclan... They would get through this. "Even you need a break sometimes, Dovefrost. Especially with things being as they are." Nobody would mind for a little while, right? The first could keep from tearing itself apart for just a few moments, surely?' There were dark forest cats around, but none of them seemed to care about the medicine cat and former medicine cat talking together.

"I suppose that is true.. It's weird taking a break though, I don't get a lot of them as a Medicine cat." He said to her, it seemed he was always doing something, whether it was checking on injuries or collecting herbs or sorting herbs.. He was always on the move. "I'm sure you remember what that was like. There never seems to be a moment of rest." The tom curled his tail behind him as his brain got lost in thought for a moment. "But I do enjoy these moments alone with you."

"True," She chuckled, "Mhm, I remember. Every moment I had to just relax felt like a gift." And they had seemed few and far between. Beechfang had never felt like she had time to herself, always wrapped up in the worry and responsibility that came with being a medicine cat. "I do too, Dovefrost." She added. Probably more than a Skyclanner should enjoy spending time with a Thunderclanner. "It's nice to just spend time around someone I care for, without worrying about something or other, you know?"

The large white tom let out a hum in agreement. It was nice to be with someone you cared for, without having to worry about anything else. It felt like clans didn't exist for the time being. He didn't have to worry about taking care of cats or herbs. He just existed with someone who liked his company, and he liked hers. Even if he shouldn't like her because of being in a different clan, there was something that always draws him back to her. "It almost feels normal. Not having to worry about clans or the dark forest."

"It does feel that way." She agreed quietly, "I should probably care more that we shouldn't be this close... I don't, though." Their moments together were the kind of peace that she hadn't known in seasons, truly. Beyond saving her life, Dovefrost was always there when she'd sought him out. He was easy to talk to and Beechfang had found herself looking forward to their conversations. Even when she'd hated going to the moonstone or meeting with the medicine cats every half-moon, or been disgruntled with chaotic gathering after chaotic gathering. And with the dark forest so firmly entrenched within the clans for the moment, she wasn't interested in denying it or lying to herself anymore. "I love you." She admitted finally.

Love...? This was love wasn't it.. What he felt for her. He never really knew what it was, or expected to experience in his time as a Medicine Cat. He cared for others in his clan, but it was never to the same level as this. Was it wrong of him to love another cat despite his oath? Probably but he couldn't help the way he felt. Besides.. The Dark Forest was around, with no sign of Starclan returning.. So would they have cared? He didn't know.. But he couldn't pass up happiness in a time like this. He wouldn't.

"I.. I love you too." He told her, finally sure of something he was feeling for once in his life.
