Scorchkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Shrikestorm moved to the top of Tallrock, calling down to the clan. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather around the Tallrock for a clan meeting!"

Scorchkit bounced excitedly up to the Tallrock, his whiskers quivering in anticipation. Was it finally time? He quickly tried to groom his wayward fur, then gave up as it insisted on sticking out in all directions.

He stared up at the rock, his eyes wide.

"Scorchkit, you have reached the age of six moons. You are now ready to become an apprentice. Until you're ready to become a warrior, your name will be Scorchpaw. Your mentor is Mistysky."

Scorchpaw bounded delightedly over to Mistysky, touching his nose to hers and purring.

"I'm gonna be the best warrior ever!" He vowed, his eyes glowing with pride.

She had just become a warrior. Literally just became one. And now she was responsible for making sure another cat got up to that rank as well. And not just any apprentice. One of Hentooth's kits. And a very excitable one at that, it seemed. Well, maybe she could deal with him. It was better than somecat undermining her or just immediately being annoying, as cats often were. This one at least seemed willing to learn.

Straightening after touching noses with the new apprentice, Mistysky cleared her throat, then proceeded to speak. "Right, best warrior ever, then? Well, we will have to work on that, then. Get yourself settled, and rest up. Training starts first thing in the morning."

And with that, Mistysky trotted off, mentally preparing herself for the journey forward.
