Smokekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Breezetail sat outside of the leader's den for a few moments, glancing around at his busy clanmates, the end of his tail twitching uncertainly. When he'd pointed out that his son of six moons was ready for his apprenticeship, he'd expected Silentstar to come forward and do the ceremony. Seeing her face would surely lift the spirits of the rest of the clan. However, she still seemed frail and grieving over Silverstorm, so it was with little reluctance that he agreed to do the ceremony himself. After all, he couldn't bear to think of how he would feel if he ever lost his own kit; and as far as he knew about the she-cat, she'd lost both her children now.

Dark thoughts for another time, he assured himself. Today would be all about Smokekit. His son, eager and full of energy, meant a new hope for the clan, and a new warrior, a new friend for all. The gray tabby couldn't be prouder.

With a small smile on his face, he leapt up into the Tall Oak. "All cats who hear my words, come forth for a clan meeting!" He yowled.

It was time. A small giggle escaped Smokekit as he came racing out of the nursery, not having sat still enough for Cloudheart to clean her son's fur. The kit came to a stop as he stared up at his father, his tail lashing back and forth. He was unsure why his father was doing his ceremony and not Silentstar, but that barely cared to the kit. He also barely cared how hi fur was sticking every way imaginable He turned and glanced toward the nursery, wondering when his mother would follow after him. When the rest of the Clan would arrive! This was going to be an important time for dear, little Smokekit. He was going to become an apprentice!

Coming out of the warriors den at the deputy's call was Creamstorm. Her gaze flickered up to the tom as she sat down not far from him, taking her time to glance at the deputy's wild little kit. So, it was time for Smokekit to become an apprentice, huh? It wasn't hard to figure it out seeing how excited the kit was; he wasn't even sitting down as he stared up at his father. How good it must be to be a kit; he didn't seem to care that the leader wasn't even doing the ceremony herself. He didn't seem to be phased by anything, really; including the battle. Part of Creamstorm thought he didn't remember it, or just liked to act like it never happened. Perhaps he was still excited that his father was now deputy of SkyClan. Ah, simple wonders...But she wondered how long those would stay with the kit.

Coalshade prowled out of the warrior den his eyes blinded from the sleep. "Another apprentice." Now it made sense. The tom sat down a little ways away from the rest at last letting his nerves cling to him. He tried to look normal but he seemed to be frozen on the sight of so many other cats.

I think Puddles is a little lost, but okay... xD

Breezetail couldn't help but hold back a humble purr as the many cats poured out into the clearing. After the crowd had begun to settle down, he pin-pointed his son out of the crowd and called the young one forward. "Smokekit, you have reached the age of six moons and - according to the laws of the clan - it is time you began your apprenticeship." He meowed loud and clear. "From this moment on, until you have proven yourself worthy of a warrior's name, you will be known as Smokepaw. Cloverleaf will be your mentor." Of course, he'd help with his training as well - but Silentstar had urged against it, as they were family. He hoped his next choice was well enough.
