reality is cruel [closed]

With an unusual bit of pep in her step, Hyacinth traversed the territory of the twolegplace, remaining on the outskirts of the fence and being careful not to step on leaves if she could. The last thing she wanted was to disturb some other cat, or worse, and get herself into some sort of trouble with a predator. Typically, they didn't show their nasty faces around twolegplace as often as within the territories, so she chose this route for her journey rather than cutting through the forest. She had no particular destination in mind, but she'd seen an increasingly large and worrisome amount of warriors patrolling the border she usually hunted on. She supposed that may be because leafbare was hot on the forests' heels, but no matter. She simply wasn't willing to risk being attacked for trying to put some food on her empty stomach.

Tornshadow had been laying on top of a fence, soaking in as much sun as she could knowing that the cold would settle in fully in a short time soon. Her nights have gotten colder since Birdsong had decided to join Riverclan.. She had been debating.. if she should follow after her cousin.. but what if Riverclan ended up the same as Skyclan..? What would she do then?

The sound of someone approaching caught her ear. She lifted her head, azure eyes looking at the new comer. She normally would ignore cats that passed by but for some reason this one caught her attention. Maybe she could make some light conversation. "Where are you headed?" She asked with interest in her voice.

A jump followed by a shirt gasp was what signified Hyacinth’s spook, along with a fluffed up tail and raised fur along her spine. Once she saw that it was a rather relaxed she-cat sitting atop a fence, she manages to get her fur to lie flat across her back, though her heart was still thumping faster than a rabbit could hop. ”O-Oh, sorry, you spooked me. I’m… Going nowhere in particular. Searching for food, that’s all.” The she-cat mewed kindly, eyes still guarded as she stared up into the blue eyes of the she-cat above. ”What about you? Do you stay around these parts?” The molly questioned. If she did, then perhaps she may be able to point her towards some source of food, or at least help her get going in the right direction.

Tornshadow shook her head. "I'm not really one to stick around in the twoleg place too often. Where I find most of my food is around the abandon barn." The former warrior explained. "The old rogue camp has some goodies around it too.. but that is on the opposite side of the territories, yeah?" She stood up and stretched a little before straightening up. "I'm Torn. Mind if I travel with you for a bit? Maybe we can help each other out."

Hyacinth nodded her head in agreement. "Understandable. I try to avoid it when I can. Twolegs will snatch us up in a heartbeat." She said quietly, glancing around to make sure there were no twolegs nearby. "Yes... I've been there before." She said, not giving up any more information about her origins. It was information that could easily land her in trouble, because of how so many cats despised the Asylum. "Hyacinth," She breathed, backing away a bit so the she-cat had room to leap down from the fence. "I suppose I wouldn't mind some company." She murmured, tail tip twitching with curiosity.

"Thank you I appreciate it." Torn said, dipping her head in respect a little for the other cat. "It gets pretty lonely traveling all by yourself doesn't it?" She asked. Now that Birdsong had found a place in Riverclan, she was back to being on her own. Silence filled her days, at least that was if her thoughts didn't occupy her mind.

"I will say that old camp is a good spot for some rest, but it is also currently occupied by two cats." She told the other. She knew Dawnhawk would let her stay any time, but she didn't want this other cat getting caught up in trouble if she ever decided to go near that camp again.

”And I as well.” Hyacinth began walking in the direction she’d initially been going, keeping her pace on the relatively slower side, just in case. ”It doss get lonely, yes, but it has it’s benefits as well. You can’t be betrayed if you don’t place your trust in anyone in the first place. Nobody’s back to watch and mouth to feed but your own. Whether or not it’s worth it is dependent on your values.” Introspective thoughts filtered through her head as she pondered which side of the line she fell on. Really, it differed depending on her specific situation.

In reference to the old rogue camp, Hyacinth simply murmured, ”Yes, that’s correct.” It had certainly been a good place to catch a catnap or chat it up woth some friends back when she occupied the space regularly.

Tornshadow nodded. Traveling alone did have it's benefits. Something she would never take for granted. After what Skyclan did to her, she was grateful to be on her own and not have to worry about any one mistreating her. "I have always been looking out for myself, even before.." Well she didn't need to elaborate. "It took some getting used to, but it certainly has it positives." Anyway that was enough about her. "Have you been around the territories a while?

Hyacinth nodded as the she-cat trailed off. She understood not wanting to talk about certain subjects, especially if they were painful or might reveal a weakness. That was the last thing any rogue needed. "Been here all my life." She replied, picking up the pace a bit as the two of them walked. "What about you? Have you always been a rogue?" She questioned. More than likely, this question would hit hard if the she-cat was from the Clans. The Clan cats only ever leave the safety and protection of their homes if something went terribly wrong.
