To Tear Reality Apart {Closed}

Beepaw was dead. He was dead, and his family would never see him again in the mortal world. Although a few days had passed since his death, the truth had not become any easier to accept.

When she stumbled to a halt, out of breath from her mad dash through the forest, Hailpaw found herself standing on the river bank. How she wished that it was possible to run out of reality. No matter how fast she was or how hard she ran, however, there was no escaping the truth. Revulsion rose within her at the sight of the swiftly flowing river--the inanimate beast that had so easily claimed a cat's life. The faint red lighting illuminating the scene only further stirred up the already churning dark emotions. Was it water in the river, or blood? A seemingly detached voice pondered over the insignificant question in her mind. Even when she closed her eyes, she could still see Beepaw's soaked, still corpse. Why did their perfect little world have to shatter so quickly? She needed something to do, anything that would take her mind off her littermate's unfortunate demise. Ever since she had been a kit, she knew of only one main way to blow off her frustration. Right now, she was suffering from much more than simple frustration. Setting her jaw, she sat down decisively upon the gravel. Her yellow eyes, which usually seemed to sparkle with energy, were dark as she scanned the opposite shore. I don't care if it's a warrior or an apprentice. Come and fight me.

Unlike the cats that she was so used to fighting, grief and denial were not enemies that she could battle against with claws.

Flowerpaw was out patrolling with Npc Nightflower and Npc Cloudleap. She snuck away from them and headed torward the river, sniffing warily. 'ThunderClan.' She thought, padding closer slowly. She saw a ThunderClan apprentice, she-cat maybe, on the other side of the river. 'Too close' "Hey!" she called, padding into view, "You-Your too close to our border!" Flowerpaw made it clear she wasn't here for hostility, even padding closer to the cat.

Hailpaw spotted Flowerpaw first. When the two made eye contact, she wordlessly narrowed her yellow eyes. Her feathery tail lashed against the gravelly shore. It was about time someone showed up. The other she-cat appeared somewhat timid, with only faint hostility in her stance. It was a bit disappointing, but she would have to do. Hailpaw could only hope that her opponent would show a bit more spirit once the fight began. An unreadable expression crossing her face, she slowly got to her paws. "Oh, I'm quite aware of that." She growled. In the deep darkness, the steeping stones were barely visible above the water's surface. Her claws unsheathed to get a better hold on the slimy rock, she crossed the river as quickly as she could without losing herself to carelessness. As she stepped unto the opposing bank, her heart was thumping within her chest. She had chosen the RiverClan border as it was a place that she frequented, but she had probably made the wrong choice. Before Beepaw's death, the water had not looked quite as terrifying. Now, the fear of falling in threatened to paralyze her every step. Gritting her teeth forcefully, she struggled to direct her focus back to Flowerpaw. "If you have any objections, try to drive me out."

The gauntlet thrown down, Hailpaw made the first move. She charged at the smaller apprentice, a snarl twisting her maw. Flowerpaw must not yet have fully understood what was going on. Well, if she didn't understand, she would before long. A well-aimed shoulder thrust knocked the RiverClanner unto her back. In a flash, Hailpaw was violently raking her claws across Flowerpaw's exposed belly. This time, she would spare no effort from the get go. She wasn't in the mood to play around; she seriously wanted to pummel someone into the ground.

Hailpaw used Belly Rake, dealing 7 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Flowerpaw yelped as the other apprentice smashed into her and raked her belly. She stumbled, but jumped up and hissed. She darted behind her and bit down hard on her tail. She yanked back on the tail, hearing a very slight pop.

Flowerpaw used Tail Yank, Costing 10 stamina.
Hailpaw is stunned for one turn.

Flowerpaw recovered quickly enough. Thrusting Hailpaw off, she leaped to her paws. The ThunderClanner's yellow gaze was dark with a ferocious intensity. Her claws, already stained with blood, had snagged a tuft of the opponent's fur. Hailpaw faced Flowerpaw, a soft hiss slipping out. Hostility crackled briefly between the two, before Flowerpaw darted in for the attack. Hailpaw lashed out, but emotion threw her aim off. The other apprentice was smaller in size and faster. In a flash, she had slipped past the stocky she-cat. Hailpaw tried to whirl around, only to feel a sharp pain in her tail. The sensation was like that of electricity shooting up her spine. She screeched furiously, her claws scrabbling against gravel.

Hailpaw is stunned.
