Wounds still healed on the pelts of the entirety of Windclan but the necessity of keeping their clan healthy and strong did not pause for the injured. Fawnstep, ever wanting the be a strong warrior at the head of his clan, was leading a patrol. At his heels were some of the clan's finest, warriors whose blood ran through their veins. Muddyleap had been softened at the paws of his mother; it was unclear if Sunnyskip was the same. But the rest proved themselves to be decent enough, even if he hardly acknowledged or cared to think of them as his offspring. It was his brood with Tawnyflare that would be the truest successors.

Her flight from the clan pained him in ways that he would never care to admit. Flicking his tail, the warrior banished his own thoughts, and called the group after him. Once they were close enough, slowed after their race over the moors, he finally meowed, "We're not here to mess around. I expect each one of you to catch something, if not more, for the clan. Wounds or not, work hard." He dismissed them with a nod of his head and darted off in the direction of a hidden tunnel in the earth. It was short distance off where he'd seen the bobbed white tail disappear.

The fat hare was scrabbling at the entrance, distracted by digging at something underneath the surface. He rounded, turning on his pads without faltering, to run at it from behind. Unsheathed claws dug into the creature's fur and he hauled it backwards to finish the kill with a swift nipping of teeth. Fawnstep hauled it backwards and sought to hold the thick scuff in his maw as he headed back to the rest of his patrol.

Muddyleap was oddly silent as he padded after his father, trying to stick as close as he could to his sister.   He didn't want to be far from her side, not with all of the hurt she had to be feeling following Nightwind - Dawnhawk - reveal, plus the damage that SkyClan had done to their camp and Clanmates. He was fine, his wounds were healing well and it wasn't like it was a bother to him at all but... It still sucked, that he could just shake things off while his Clanmates were hurting in ways he would never truly understand. His ears slicked back, just in time for Fawnstep to come to a stop and they all slowed to a halt.

The warrior still felt torn on how to feel about his father, determined to be seen by him - praised but... It wasn't like Fawnstep had ever acted like a father to him. He wasn't sure how worth it was, mostly when he didn't see anything truly good coming out of his way of thinking - why attack cats who didn't want to fight? He huffed, giving his sister a soft lick as he turned to go his own way to hunt. His eyes scanned the moor, knowing that there wasn't even a reason to attempt to taste the air. Finally he spotted a grouse, falling into a crouch as he slowly stalked forward before he felt comfortable enough to spring into a run.

By skill - or perhaps even luck - the grouse didn't spot the brown-spotted tom until he was on top of it. With a leap, Muddyleap pinned the grouse to the ground - claws sinking into a wing to keep it still as he quickly ended its life. With a huff of joy, he picked up the bird and trotted back to where he had left the others.

Sunnyskip had not been thrilled to hear that she was on patrol with her father. She had given up trying to get him to acknowledge her long ago, putting her love to Nightwind instead... Another misplaced devotion. She narrowed her eyes at his comments, saying nothing as he disappeared into a nearby tunnel. Once he was out of earshot, she turned to her companions and smiled warmly, ignoring the aching scratches on her back and shoulders from the recent battle. "Good luck!" She mewed quietly, returning her brother's swift lick before setting off in the opposite direction of Fawnstep, searching for the source of the bird scent she had caught a whiff of earlier. She found it relatively quickly, and narrowed in on the grouse. Creeping forward, she placed one paw in front of the other carefully before starting forward in a mad dash for the creature. Before it could shriek in surprise, her jaws closed around it's throat, silencing it forever. She offered quick thanks to StarClan for the prey before burying it shallowly and turning to find a new target.

Henpaw was enjoying herself. The wind blew in her fur and beckoned her to race across the moors at her father’s heels. She didn’t know Sunnyskip or Muddyleap that well, but Muddyleap was… somehow her close relation, and Sunnyskip seemed a nice enough cat. Henpaw let herself wonder for a split second how half of WindClan seemed to be related to her, before snapping back to attention at her father’s words. She gave him a brisk nod and watched as he caught a hare, memorizing his every movement. Hayglow was a good mentor, but Fawnstep was… Fawnstep, and Henpaw wanted to learn from the best.

She spared the other two a quick glance as they went after prey. She was a newer apprentice after all, and more experience couldn’t hurt. Sunnyskip wasn’t a bad hunter, stalking as close as she could to her prey before leaping to catch it. Muddyleap either had bees for brains or a scent stuck in his nose, for he didn’t so much as give the air a single sniff before heading out after prey. He did manage to catch a bird, though, so perhaps his hunting method had some merit to it. She’d have to ask him later. For now, she needed something easy to catch. She would not mess up in front of her father. Rising for a moment onto her hind legs, she spotted movement on the moor not far off. A rabbit.

She stalked closer to it, mimicking her father as best she could. Once she was within leaping distance, she sprang, catching the rabbit’s neck in her jaws and swiftly ending its life. Not the most brilliant catch, but one a young apprentice could be reasonably proud of. Fawnstep wouldn’t regret taking her on this patrol. She’d pull her weight. Henpaw quickly buried it like Sunnyskip had, and couldn’t resist a quick glance towards her father. Had he seen? Although she was young and inexperienced, she’d helped provide for the Clan. Did he see that? StarClan, she hoped he did.

The clan was slowly returning to normalcy and Silver was glad for that. However, it still felt a little...surreal. Almost felt like he was trudging through a dream. The last few moons had been absolute nightmares so he was glad it was somewhat over. For now, they had to help the clan recover it's strength after such a grueling battle against SkyClan. Dawnhawk had brought chaos upon the clan and he was more than happy that he was no longer there to continue his awful influence on WindClan.

The young warrior trekked behind his half-siblings and their father, well, their biological father. That didn't mean he was their father. He never really acted like a dad to any of them and it kind of hurt but they had all grown accustomed to that kind of treatment. At least, Silverlight grew accustomed to it. He sure hoped Sunny and Muddy didn't pay too much mind at the way Fawn treated them all. It was best not to if they didn't want their spirits to lower even further. They had all felt drained after all that happened. He was almost tempted to sleep in his nest for a whole moon without stirring. However, he was glad that Fawn seemed to have finally started to act more like a father with Tawny's kits, seemed to have stepped up to fulfill the role he should've a long while ago. What tipped him off was that Henpaw didn't seem to mind their father. In fact, it almost seemed like she looked up to him. That relieved Silver more than he ever imagined. She wouldn't have to experience a father that only tolerated you at best. Thank StarClan.

After they were dismissed by Fawnstep, the silver-furred warrior turned to his half-siblings then offered them a somewhat half-hearted smile. "Good luck you guys! Let's do our best." he purred before rushing his own way. He hoped they would all have good successes today during this hunting patrol.

After a small while of surveying his surroundings, the tom finally came across a hare. He wasted no time in rushing toward it, his intent to catch it as quickly as he could.

As expected, it was caught easily and he sighed with relief. Looking back to the rest of the patrol, it appeared that they were all having great luck. Good! This meant really well for the clan. The tom hurriedly hid his catch and wandered away and continued on his search for more prey.

As he waited, the rest of the patrol gathered around. His frigid, blue gaze had glanced after the retreating frames of his clanmates and kits. But, there was no doubt where his eyes would linger. Fawnstep sought to see how Henpaw handled herself. Her name was one of the less impressive of the brood but Tawnyflare had insisted on the name in honor of her sister. It was moments like this where he wondered if he could change it out of a mildly growing spite. Clenching his jaw until he thought it could clench no further, his thoughts churned like an angry swarm of bees once again.

"Well done." He ground out as they began to approached. It seemed each had been successful in their endeavors, producing a good amount of prey to bring back to the clan. There would be a certain effort made in hauling this all back. Fawnstep's eyes rose faintly to glance over the horizon, watching the heat rise off the moors and almost imagining for a second that he caught a glimpse of a patchwork pelt. At this point, it was impossible to tell if he despised Tawnyflare for leaving, or if there was still some buried admiration. Such ideas caused his pelt to twinge uncomfortably, like he had laid in a hill of ants.

"You, warriors, don't let this success make you soft. If an apprentice can keep up, it means you need to work harder. Myself included." Fawnstep grunted softly, adding himself almost as an afterthought. But it was true, wasn't it? His silken tail flickered back and forth as he went to turn away. They could continue hunting but that didn't feel right - not when such things were coursing through his veins and pounding in his thoughts. Claws dug into the earth and he let out an agitated exhalation of air, "Sparring. We should sharpen our battle skills. The injuries our clan sustained never should have happened. I could show you all how to properly fight, if you want."

The offer drifted into the air as he turned around to fix the four younger cats with a curiously hardened stare. But beneath those eyes was a desperate plea, a softness that Fawnstep would never admit, he needed this.

Muddyleap smiled as he watched as the rest of the hunting patrol returned, each holding their own piece of prey. He purred, but he came to a startled stop when Fawnstep spoke up - putting up the idea of sparring. He turned to look at his father, eyes wide for a few heartbeats before they softened, a soft sigh escaping him as he dropped his grouse near the hare that Fawnstep had caught. "I'm good with sparring," he meowed, sparing a glance at the cats around him before he took a side-step toward his sister. "B-But if we do spar, I wanna spar with Sunnyskip!" There was a defensiveness to his tone - a small hint of fear. He couldn't recall who knew about his inability to feel pain. At times it felt like a secret, other times like the whole Clan new. It was better to stick with his sister who he knew knew about it... Somebody he could sure would be careful - and he would be careful in turn to make sure he didn't get careless right back.

Sunnyskip's nose crinkled unpleasantly at Fawnstep's words, and she nearly turned her back on him to continue hunting... But paused when he suddenly spoke about sparring. Her eyes darted to Muddyleap as he quickly agreed, stepping towards her as he continued, saying he'd want to spar with her. She nodded once, casting a glance around at the rest of the patrol. There was an odd number.... "What if we did teams? Muddyleap and Fawnstep against Silverlight, Henpaw, and myself?" She offered, tail swishing behind her as she waited.

Henpaw’s ears turned red at her father’s words. Oh, stars… she curled her tail awkwardly around her leg, beaming inside. Sparring? Oh, yeah. She took a step forwards, eyes shining with enthusiasm. “Ah, come on, Muddyleap! Hayglow said you were a real good fighter. I’ve been wanting to spar with you!” Sunnyskip’s voice caught her ears. “That sounds good to me.” As long as she got to spar with Muddyleap. She wanted to know if he was as good as his mother had said. If he was, she had little chance of winning, but she’d have fun, anyways. Her mind was already whirring with battle plans as she sized up the other cats. Everycat looked fast… she could stall Muddyleap while Silver and Sunny kept Fawnstep pinned down- he was the biggest threat. Actually, Sunny could stall Fawnstep while Henpaw and Silver made quick work of Muddy… or maybe… there was a part of her that wanted to face off against her father? Would she lose? Heck, yeah! Would she have the time of her life? Heck, yeah! Henpaw’s eyes gleamed as she readied herself, only waiting for the signal from her father.
