A Tear in the Sky [Open]

Tentative. That was the word to describe it. That is what Tornkit was. She didn't really want to step out of the nursery yet. She knew that there was interesting things outside, but it was new. Something she didn't know. The white and gold kit let out a small shaky sigh before finally pushing herself out of the entrance of the nursery and into the open of the camp. The brighter light effected her eyes slightly causing the kit to squint her azure eyes until she managed to get used to the light.

As soon as she did, she opened her eyes fully, taking in the whole camp for the first time. "Woah.." She muttered out to herself. There were so many cats everywhere.. Some had different appearances than the standard stuff she saw in the nursery.. What were they wearing? Why did the look.. kinda scary? She didn't know if she liked it.. She stepped out of the way of the entrance before moving off to the side and out of the way. Afraid to approach anyone, especially those who looked different, no matter how kind they might be.

Birdpaw had finished her training for the day, and was sprawled outside the apprentice den, happy to be able to relax. Ravenclaw was a fantastic mother and an even better mentor, but training had been a lot more than the young apprentice had been prepared for.

A soft noise caught the edge of her hearing, and Birdpaw turned her head, watching as one of the kits stepped out of the nursery. One of the deputy's kits, but she wasn't quite sure. Her training left Birdpaw little time to spend around the nursery, even to see her other siblings who hadn't yet been apprenticed.

"Hey, kit." She mewed, padding towards the small white and golden she-kit. "I'm Birdpaw, what's your name?" The tabby's voice was soft as she spoke, the apprentice not usually the one to approach and start a conversation. Still, being greeted by an apprentice was probably better than being greeted by one of those pelt-wearing rogues, she was sure.

Tornkit was a little startled as someone started to speak to her in a soft voice. Her blue eyes going wide for a moment before she composed herself. She never expected someone to come up to her in this situation. Maybe she should have thought about this more before stepping out. "Oh.. Uh I'm Tornkit." One of her tattered looking ears flicking as she spoke about her name. She was born with them that way for some odd reason.

She didn't really know what to make of Birdpaw, or really know who this was, but it seemed she was better than the others. "Umm.. Who are they?" She asked shifting uncomfortably, her azure eyes looking up at the pelted rogues but she didn't understand what exactly was happening there.

Tornkit... Ah, so she was one of the deputy's kits after all, then. Birdpaw knew most of the clan didn't like him, but Dawnhawk had saved grandma so he couldn't be all bad, surely? And Tornkit was still Skyclan. She was a kit, but sooner or later she'd become an apprentice and Dawnhawk would do her ceremony, just like he'd done Birdpaw and Shadepaw's. Birdpaw saw no reason to be wary of the kit.

"The Asylum?" She tipped her head in the direction of one of the pelt-wearers, "They're not clan, though they do like to follow us around when training... Or when we go anywhere. Mom says they aren't good cats to be around, however." Mom had been very clear that she wasn't to trust them or let herself be alone with one of them for long. The way she and aunt Prim had spoken of what had happened to Smokefeather's kit had scared Birdpaw just a little bit. She still wasn't quite clear on what had happened, but from the protectiveness of the other queens when she'd been in the nursery and the way grandma seem so... lost, distant, made Birdpaw think that Ravenclaw was right. She didn't quite understand why Dawnhawk was so looked down upon though, he'd saved grandma, even though he was a part of them. He hadn't been born rogue, so that had to count for something, she thought.

Dawnhawk had been meaning to find time to stop by the nursery and see his kits. Most of his duties between being the clan deputy and being the Standard Captain had eaten away much of his time. Tired and a little unkempt, he made his way to the nursery, determined to spend at least a little bit of time with Tornkit, Waspkit, and Littlekit. He'd like to speak with Honeycomb too, but if she was tired, he was content to let her rest. He spotted Tornkit beside Birdpaw... and came within earshot just in time to hear Birdpaw speak. Dawnhawk curled his lip for just a moment, but straightened his face back out as he approached Birdpaw from behind.

"Your mother is wrong." Dawnhawk said to Birdpaw, though he left all traces of emotion out of his voice. "I will thank you, and her, to speak no more ill will about the Asylum, as your Deputy is also the Standard Captain." That was all the warning Birdpaw would be getting. His eyes then focused on Tornkit and he gave her a warm smile.

"You on the other paw..." He gently booped her on the head with a soft paw. "I've been wanting to see you all day! Where are the other two?" He glanced inside the nursery and spotted Tornkit's siblings... sleeping. Well... so be it then. He'd spend time with Tornkit until they woke.

"A-sy-lum?" Tornkit pronounced out with a slight tilt in her head. It seemed familiar. She must have heard it in passing somewhere.. She couldn't think on it too much more before someone else was approaching the two cats, at first she couldn't tell who it was but as soon as she noticed the young kit brightened considerably.

"Dad!" Tornkit basically purred out. She hadn't gotten to see him too much but she knew him when she saw him. He was always someone she was comfortable around outside of the judging looks she got when he wasn't around. She didn't understand why. "They didn't want to come out with me. Wanted to sleep more.." She huffed out, clearly unhappy with the situation but now that she knew Birdpaw and Dawnhawk were here, she would be fine.

She looked back to Birdpaw, not really processing the threat the deputy had just given the apprentice. "So.. this A.. Asylum, they are good? And not scary like they seem to be?" The pelts scared her a little. "What they wear is kind of scary.. Why do they wear that?" She asked azure eyes glancing between the apprentice and deputy.
