A trespasser in our midst

The sun was slowly beginning to set over the forest when Wisteriabloom set off for some late-night hunting. It felt as if all her time was spent trying apprentices; whether it was her own, Lilypaw, or teaching Shrikepaw. The young tom's mentor was apparently useless, so he needed all the help he could get with learning to hunt. Even though she had set out to hunt at first, her outing had turned into a less-purposeful stroll. She let her mind wander, a rare thing, but was brought back down by the scent of an enemy cat.

She quickly dropped into a crouch behind a clump of leaves and watched closer. A lost looking Thunderclanner stood there, fox-lengths into Riverclan territory. Part of her wanted to attack her straight away, but she paused to double check. She refused to make the same mistake that she had made with Smallbean. But she was sure that the unfamiliar she-cat was trespassing. What kind of a warrior am I if I refuse to attack a trespasser? Spurred into action by her own thoughts, she started to plan her attack. It seemed like she had enough time to think it through, and it was a resolution of Wisteriabloom's that now she was a warrior, she would try and think things through before she did them. As silently as possible, she slipped into the river. With a body built for swimming and the training required to execute it, it didn't take long for her to swim downstream to where the enemy cat stood.

Come on, she thought, annoyed, just a few more steps closer. Much to her luck, the tabby took a small step backwards. Without further hesitation, Wisteriabloom lashed out the water at the she-cat, catching her off guard.

Taking walks helped. This was something she had learned from Smallbean. It was how they had grown close, admittedly too close than the code allowed. But it hadn't done any harm, had it? They had come out with kits, which was a blessing. She loved them with all of her heart. But with training her two apprentices, doing warrior duties, and looking after her litter, she was pretty overwhelmed.

This was her free time, and she was taking a walk. She zoned out as she padded along the territory, getting closer and closer to borders she wasn’t meant to cross. Stepping too far over the line, she heard a splash and her head jerked up, jolted out of her trance by the sudden noise. Not seeing anybody- or anything- she backed up a step, hoping it was just a large fish.

As the warrior sprung out at her, her eyes widened. Trying to dodge the attack, she dove towards the side just as Wisteriabloom leapt. Getting out of the way just in time, she stood up, ready to see what would happen next.

Wisteriabloom growled in frustration as her attacked missed, but quickly leapt onto the back of the tabby warrior. It was the same move she had used on Smallbean when they had first 'met' - it was one that she found worked fairly well. She raked at the she-cat's back, trying to get a good grip. Even though she was a large cat, it was still fairly difficult to get a good hold on your opponent. The Thunderclanner wasn't particularly small, but it took a lot to be larger than Wisteriabloom. Her soaked pelt also gave her a small advantage - not only did it make her heavier, it also provided discomfort for the tree-dweller.

Wisteriabloom used Leap-and-Hold on Cedarheart, costing 10 SP and dealing 11 damage. Attack is successful for 1 turn!

Cedarheart hissed as the Riverclanner bowled over top of her. Struggling to break free, she inhaled deeply, sucking in too much of the repulsive scent of fish, sticking her tongue out as she gagged slightly. She wanted to get back onto her feet, stand up and fight back. Wisteriabloom was most definitely younger than her, and she could take her if only she was freed. Well, she’d have to let go eventually. So the tabby kept struggling.

Whilst Wisteriabloom was still successfully pinning the enemy warrior down, she decided that she'd try and get some answers. "So, you're ThunderClan, I assume. What are you doing on Riverclan territory?" she growled menacingly, far from her usual chattery voice. She continued to rake the back of the she-cat, but soon lost her grip and slid off. Recovering as quickly as possible, she reared up at the tabby and slashed her paws at her face and upper body. She was still waiting for an answer to her question, and the young warrior would not accept the fight as won or lost of she didn't get the answer she was searching for.

Cedarheart was a bit surprised that Wisteriabloom was trying to talk with her, but what did she have to loose? Reluctantly she started to give the answers the Riverclanner was looking for. ”Just taking a walk, I happened to cross the border." she explained. It had been dumb of her to wander so far, but she had been so consumed in her worries and stress her mind had been clouded, As the warrior was distracted, she managed to slip out of her grasp. Crawling underneath the she-cat, she scathed at the exposed, soft underbelly.

A walk huh? Wisteriabloom thought as she snorted at the she-cat's silly reasoning. That was barely a good excuse to trespass on Riverclan territory. With SkyClan living in their camp, the silver warrior had begun to think that maybe not all the cats in the other clans were stupid, but this Thunderclanner was making her doubt the change of mind she'd had. To just wonder into enemy territory? But I did that didn't I. It was different, I was a brand new warrior, she tried to justify to herself. The enemy warrior's claws attempted to rake at her soft belly fur, but Wisteriabloom leapt at of the way. She knew that her opponent was more experienced, and if she let her properly lay a claw on her, the battle would not swing in the Riverclanner's direction. Claws outstretched, she tried to leap at the tabby, but she swerved out of her way. Cursing under her breath, she readied herself to be attacked again.

Wisteriabloom used Dodge-and-Fight on Cedarheart costing 15 SP and dealing no damage. Counterattack was unsuccessful!

Cedarheart snarled. Her opponent was better than she had assumed, and she didn’t want to return to camp beaten up by some Riverclanner. She had to lay on a good attack. Closing her eyes, she barreled at Wisteriabloom in an attempt to knock her over with brute force. She was running out of tactics, and had to find something fast.

Wisteriabloom was shocked that the smaller Thunderclanner had managed to knock her over. Straight-up force wasn't something that usually worked with the large warrior, but this time it seemed to be a success. A small growl rumbled in her throat, and from where she lay on the floor, she grabbed the she-cat's leg in her jaws. Now with the upper hand, she slashed at the tree-dweller with her claws, wondering how long she would be able to hold on.

Cedarheart’s eyes crossed for a moment as the Riverclan warrior swung her around. Gritting her teeth, she tried to collect her thoughts. If she let the she-cat keep hold of her this entire battle, she would never get a hit in, and could return to camp severely injured. She needed to get out of Wisteriabloom’s grasp, before things got worse. Her brain presented an idea, out of nowhere. It was ambitious, and it was risky, but the tabby was willing to try it. Rolling over, she threw the larger warrior off of her back with all of her force.

Cedarheart used Duck and Twist, dealing 8 damage and costing 25 stamina. The effects of Teeth Grip are canceled!
