Cardinalpaw realized once she was safely on the branch that she had passed out for a few seconds. "I dunno..." She tried to stand and balance herself, but dropped down again as the movement sent pain rushing through her wounds. "Ow." She dug her claws into the branch. "You should help 'im fight the eagle. I'll be fine long's that thing doe'nt come back." She slurred her words a little, adrenaline wearing off.

The bird squawked in pain when the blue cat attacked. This was why she never ate cat. They always fought back. She clawed the cat's back, hopefully making it back down.

Eagle used Talon Strike on Sans, dealing 10 damage and using 10 stamina!

"Not a chance," the russet-furred tom meowed sternly with a firm shake of his head. "I don't want you passing out again and losing your balance; you could really hurt yourself if you fell from this height. Instead, I'll stay here with you and let you rest until you feel strong enough to climb down. Besides, Asterspark is a very strong warrior, he can handle that massive bird himself."

Sans spat in pain, gnashing his teeth together hard to keep himself from crying out any louder, his back stinging intensely. Snarling, pain fueling his rage, the bluish-gray tom crouched, timing himself just so before launching himself at the eagle in a massive leap, tackling it to the ground. The contact with the ground, caused him to lose his balance, and he tumbled a few tail-lengths away from the eagle, giving it plenty of room to regain its balance.

Sans used Jumping Strike on Eagle, dealing 15 and costing 20 stamina.

Cardinalpaw supposed he made a point. She didn't want to fall and hurt herself more- she wanted to help. But she couldn't - even if she could fight, the eagle had just carried her off so easily... She shuddered. Even if she was relatively fine now, the reality was that she had nearly died. It felt scarier now that she wasn't a dumb kit anymore. If her paw hadn't caught that branch... would she be dead by now?

The eagle shook out her feathers, standing up from the dizzying blow. This wasn't worth it. She spread her wings and started up- who knew, maybe she could snatch one of the red ones up in the tree.

Poppyheart's head shot upward at the sounds of giant wings flapping growing closer and closer. Spotting the eagle heading towards them again, he protectively bushed out his fur to make himself appear twice as big as he really was, hissing and yowling at it to try and scare it off. It didn't seem all that threatened, so the only thing he could do in the position he was in was lash out his claws at the brute's face, feeling his claws penetrate into its hard beak and soft feathery face. The blow was hard enough to unbalance the eagle, causing it to fall back towards the ground, where he saw his brother waiting. "Finish him off, brother!"

Poppyheart used Front Paw Strike on Eagle, dealing 13 damage and costing 10 stamina.

"With pleasure, bro!" Once the eagle landed on the ground with a hard thump right in front of him, the bluish-gray tom reared up on his hind legs and quickly positioned himself with claws at the ready before it could regain its composure and get back up. With a growl, he brought his paws down hard on its head, jamming its beak deep into the mud. Digging his claws deep into the back of its neck, Sans growled in concentration to keep the eagle in place as he slowly suffocated it in the marshy ground, not letting up until it finally stopped moving. He panted heavily and slumped down into a sitting position.

Sans used Upright Lock on Eagle, dealing 17 and costing 25 stamina.

Cardinalpaw shrank back as the eagle came closer, pressing into the trunk and digging her claws into the branch... just in case. Redheart smacked it down to the ground and she let out a sigh of relief, then carefully started to go down from the tree. She made it to the ground(though not before being poked a fair amount by the branches) and watched Sans sit back, the bird dead. "That was too close for comfort." She said, wincing at the wounds and bruises from the talons and branches. "I'm going to need to get some cobwebs for these. But hey, we have even more prey to bring back to camp!" She picked up her cardinal and the mice and started towards camp.

Poppyheart climbed down the tree and landed next to Cardinalpaw, offering to her his shoulder for her to support her weight on, and Sans dragged the eagle over towards them by a wing. He dropped it and continued panting, nodding. "Yeah, we'll make quite a meal outta this. Poppyheart, you bring her back to camp. I'll collect all the prey we've caught and bring it back."

"Oh, absolutely not!" Poppyheart suddenly meowed sternly, taking his brother by surprise. "You've been injured, too, don't think for a second that I didn't see those claws catching your back. You can take Cardinalpaw back, and then you two can go promptly to Mothpaw to have those wounds treated."

Now that his brother had mentioned the battle wound he had acquired while fighting that giant bird, the pain along his back began to unbearably intensify, and he winced. "Alright, I hear ya. Just be careful not t' run into anymore eagles out here, okay? C'mon, kit, let's head back." Taking over the role of supporting the apprentice, the two injured ShadowClanners both limped back home together, leaving Poppyheart to collect the fresh-kill they had left behind.
