Peace isn't a Common Thing within These Waters [Closed]

Ever since Rippedstar made the announcement, Ashpaw was cautious to never leave camp, not even to explore. The Skyclan leader had strictly forbidden apprentices from leaving the safety of their rocky home, so he obliged by not even bothering to go out at all, with or without a warrior. He didn't like company, anyway, so he preferred to stay in camp and help out by replacing bedding and picking fleas out of the elders' pelts.

However, he was much older now, and had slightly grown out of his fear of other cats. He was now more used to his clannmates, and no longer slunk away from them in pure fear. After such a big step, he had finally decided to go out and explore the territory he had mostly forgotten.

Today, he was out with his favorite cat and mother-figure, Blossomheart. The gray and white tabby tom glanced over his shoulder at her and smiled, already having a fun time. Raising his muzzle to sniff the air, Ashpaw crouched and made his way towards the nearest scent of prey. Too focused, he never noticed himself getting closer and closer to the river, closer and closer to Riverclan territory, too. He never noticed until he was at the bank of the river.

Blossomheart followed him on the hunt, letting him lead the way. But they neared Riverclan. "Stay on guard," she murmured, "Riverclan can be dangerous, allies or not. "

”Well, you’re not wrong,” a voice suddenly meowed. Shadefang stalked over to the border with eyes narrowed, staring down the young tom and she-cat. ”What are you two doing so close to the border, hmm? Not thinking about breaking the alliance between RiverClan and SkyClan, are you?” He flexed his claws into the soft, damp riverbank, just itching for a battle. He shot the apprentice and warrior an unsettling devious grin.

Ashpaw jumped, practically out of his pelt. He instantly relaxed as soon as he smelled Riverclan. They were his ally; even though the intimidating tom made it quite clear he probably wanted to hurt them, there was something at the back of his mind telling him that he probably wouldn't. Instead, he stood tall, a testimony to how much he had grown over the past few moons.

"No, no we are not. We were just trying to hunt, and I have seemed to traveled a little too close for comfort," His voice didn't waver; he refused to let himself, "We'll leave, right now. We don't wish to cause trouble."

"No." She stopped Ashpaw.
"We are on our territory and we have the right to hunt here."

”No, I think you should listen to the kit,” Shadefang growled lowly. ”You both had better leave, or there will be more where this came from.” He suddenly launched himself over the river and slammed into Ashpaw, knocking him over. His claws managed to rake down the apprentice’s side, leaving behind a wide gash that ran all the way down his pelt that was sure to last as a scar.

Shadefang used Jumping Strike on Ashpaw, dealing 10 damage and costing 20 stamina.

Blossomheart bristled, but her voice remained calm. "You're trespassing on our territory, codebreaker. Now you must deal with the consequences. " She attacked after finishing with a growl.

Ashpaw turned towards Blossomheart, opening his mouth to speak, only to feel his body being slammed to the ground. He cried out in agony as he felt claws drag down his side. The area was swamped by warmth; he could feel the blood oozing from the wound. "I said I didn't want to fight!" Terrified, the smaller tom managed to wriggle out of grip, before slipping underneath the Riverclan warrior and slashing at his underbelly.


Ashpaw used Belly Rake, dealing 7 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Shadefang snarled at the attacks coming in from both sides, but he shook them off and leaped for Ashpaw again. Apprentices were such easy targets, so it would make sense to try to kill this foolish tom first. He reared up on his hind legs and slashed his claws against Ashpaw's face, scoring them through his flesh and causing many bleeding scratches. He ended up catching the apprentice's ears a bit and even tore his claws through one of his eyes, causing more blood to leak from the poor cat's face.

He felt the familiar adrenaline he craved when he tore into Ashpaw's face. The same thrill he had felt when he killed his mother and ruthlessly attacked that other SkyClan apprentice. It was a shame her father had come to the rescue, but perhaps if he can knock Blossomheart out he could still have a chance to end this apprentice's life.

Shadefang used Upright Front Paws, dealing 11 damage and costing 20 stamina.

Ashpaw is unable to battle.

"You haven't got a chance, you little apprentice." Usually she was warm and kind, but that was replaced by a cold fierce motherly instinct when it came to her family- Ashpaw especially.

Blossomheart used Leap and Hold,  dealing 11 damage and using 10 stamina. Shadefang is pinned for 2 turns.

Ashpaw screeched out in pain as the cat tore into his face with no mercy, and not long after all he could see was red. Red, from his own blood. He collapsed in the sand, twitching as he choked on his own blood. A fire licked over his entire body, threatening to swallow him up in exchange for an eternal release. Ashpaw coughed, the copper smell and taste overwhelming him, making it incredibly difficult to breathe. Everything hurt, hurt so badly he just wanted it to end. Starclan, was this really the end? He took a deep breath and let out a groan of pain as spikes seemed to run through his chest, causing him to cough again.

He let his tiny, fragile and broken body go limp in exhaustion. He had fought as much as he could and it wans't enough. He had thought it was smart to come here in first place, and now he was going to pay the price. He could feel his red-filled vision swimming as he gave up. "Blossomheart...please..just leave me..not worth it..just.." He let out a sigh as the darkness consumed him.

Shadefang thrashed and snarled viciously underneath the she-cat, trying to snap his jaws against her legs.

Blossomheart only held firmer, hissing. "I'd never do that, Ashpaw."

Shadefang felt himself grow weaker and weaker the more he struggled. Once again, this would be a battle he wouldn’t be able to win. He let out a low howl of fury.
