At first, the young apprentice looked thoroughly horrified, her face contorted into an almost comical expression.
She recoiled as the tom sprayed drops of the freezing substance onto her pelt, shaking as hard as she possibly could. Her green eyes were wide circles of disbelief and fear. He's fish-brained if he thinks I'll step into there! I don't… pausing in her thoughts, a whim hit her that pricked the she's ears. Just imagine what the others'll say! If he can do it, so can I, anyway.
"'Kay," she decided, squeezing her eyes shut and blindly throwing her body in beside her mentor's.
But she miscalculated the landing, and soon her feel pedaled pointlessly beneath the water, mouth open in a silent bubbling scream. She could feel sand and pebbles beneath her paws; and in a few heartbeats she had scrambled upright, the river flowing gently around the fur just above her belly, making it look beautifully groomed beneath the blue.
The rest of her was soaked to the bone, and her teeth chattered as she stared at Frogjaw wide-eyed. "I…did I scare away all the fish?" was the only thing she whispered.
