The canine had been furious, blinded by the hunger and the insolence of these
food-creatures! His growl was deep with frustration and pain -- none of the food-creatures on his human's territory had ever
hurt him before! They struggled and screeched as he tore into them -- even the tall white ones, with the fluffy curls and weird noises.
His humans were the ones that kicked him, chaining him to the tree -- but these food-creatures caused
fire through the canine's body all by themselves!
The canine lunged to show the food-creatures where they belonged -- in his fangs! -- but without warning, he felt sharp, piercing agony down his face. He screeched in pain -- staggering back, feeling a warm, thick wetness drip into his eyes. His vision was blurred pinkishly as he whined piteously, backing sharply.
The silver creature had crimson on her claws and the canine suddenly recoiled. These weren't regular food-creatures! No! Feeling the burning fire throughout his body, the stinging stickiness matted in his dark pelt... The canine felt fear creep upon him, for the first time since he'd been tied to the tree.
With a last bark, he turned with the energy he still possessed -- running away, uncaring of the throbs down his injured leg and the red muddying his left eye.
---------------
Mosspaw watched the huge beast rear, its cry sharp and high-pitched as Silverfang's claws left bloody, spurting trails down its face. It was only a moment before it's staggering backwards became turning, then running -- leaving little trails of red in its wake as it fled, far from sight.
Spotfur seemed worse for wear beside him -- the upper side of his head covered in blood -- and Jaystream panted from his leaping attack. But Mosspaw wasn't paying attention to them. He was looking straight at his mentor -- intense and rippling from the battle, fury blazing in her eyes.
"Oh Starclan..." Mosspaw mewed, almost at a loss for words.
"That was awesome!"
He practically bounced on his paws, forgetting about the icky stickiness there. Silverfang had just -- she'd been so
awesome -- roaring and flying with her claws, and then the beast
ran, and--
"How did you do that?!" the little black tom asked excitedly, fluttering around Silverfang's legs.
"That was amazing! I can't believe it ran! It was huge, and then it got Spotfur, and I attacked it -- did you see me? -- but it didn't do anything. But when you slashed it -- oh! It was awesome!"
