Some training! [closed]

The day was close to ending and Rosepaw had a pretty busy day. The ginger she-cat had been running around the camp trying to please the elders, most apprentices were annoyed by this task but Rosepaw enjoyed listening to their stories when they were younger and she took their lessons seriously. Besides the fact that they were kind of smelly Shimmerheart and Dawnflower were super funny! Rosepaw was tired but she still had the duties of an apprentice to deal with and Thrushstar promised some late training so she sat by the exit to the camp and waited for him patiently, closing her eyes attempting to get some quick sleep before he approached.

With a big yawn, Thrushstar padded out of his den towards the entrance of camp. It had been quite some time since he took on an apprentice himself, but he figured this would be the best way to get back into normal clan life. Looking up to see Rosepaw patiently waiting on him, he chuckled to himself as his old bones protested in the cold weather. "Greetings, Rosepaw," he mewed. "Are... you ready for training?"

Rosepaw was nervous that Thrushstar would be training her, she felt like she couldn't let him down and she hoped that he would be proud of her. When she saw Thrushstar she figured that he just woke up from a nap or something since he looked really tired, and for the first time Rosepaw noticed how old Trushstar looked maybe the rumors were true he only had one life left, she tried to think of something else since she didn't want to think of their leaders death. "Hello Thrushstar! Yes I am" She mewed excited to start training with the leader she expected a lot to learn from him.

"Good! Let's get moving then," he said with a rather cheerful tone. He was hoping to make this quick and easy, although he felt like he was going to be a bit rusty. However, he felt good about it and quickly walked out of the camp, expecting Rosepaw to follow. They were goign to try to get some hunting done today as the camp really needed it. "How do you feel about... hunting tonight?" he asked, wondering if Rosepaw was able to get to hunting before she had switched mentors.

She had followed Thrushstar with an excited gleam in her eyes, she had hoped that they would be hunting today the clan really needed more food. When Thrushstar asked about hunting she mewed happily, "Yes! I would love to do some hunting!" She purred she enjoyed it since mice are pretty stupid and are easy to catch and Rosepaw was a pretty decent hunter. So hopefully she could please Thrushstar with the tricks that Wildfang had taught her before she switched mentors.

"Great!" he exclaimed, happy for her excitement and readiness to get started. As they traveled deeper into the territory, the leader began to slow to a stop. The cold was really taking a toll on him, but he didn't let it stop him. Instead, he turned to Rosepaw with an expectant look. "Show... me what you can do. What can you... smell?" he asked.

It was so cold out that Rosepaw could see her own breath in front of her eyes! When Thrushstar had stopped, the apprentices ears perked glancing around the forest and sniffing around her. "I smell.. a mouse!" She said unsure of herself but she went with it.

Thrushstar paused a moment, opening his mouth so that he could better scent what was around them. With a nod, he accepted that answer. Unfortunately, the trail smelled stale. "Is it near by?" He asked, hoping that she could discern between fresh and stale. With the cold leaf bare weather, mice were probably the only prey they were going to catch tonight, but it seemed rather bare at the moment.
