Our teeth and ambitions are bared [WC v RC Conflict TOPIC]

As Nectarleap padded with WindClan, fear coursed through every fiber in him. He had never been in a fight like this before. Sure, there had been skirmishes and the fight against Smokefang, but this was huge. Most of a clan against most of a clan. Life and death. At least StarClan was on their side. RiverClan were the ones who were invading their territory. And they had always been on their ancestor's good side. WindClan was a morally sound group fighting against dishonorable codebreakers. This should have made him feel satisfied. But it didn't. In fact, he was terrified. Good morals wouldn't win the fight. Leafbare hadn't treated them well, and the other clan was more well-fed than they were. As fast as they were, speed alone couldn't win out against raw strength. A million things could go wrong in this fight, and their images burned brightly in his mind. It was time to face the fact that he could lose. The whole clan could lose. Death was always a possibility. Fear ate away at his usually confident heart. Until he saw those fox-hearted fish-brains. Oh, he would crush them under his claws. Make them wish that he had killed them. Invading was against the warrior code. Not only that, it wasn't right. His claws unsheathed and dug into the ground. Victory would be theirs and they would feast happily that night.

Ravenflight stood among her Clanmates, pawing nervously at the ground. Last time RiverClan had fought a major battle, she hadn't taken part, but she had felt the aftermath just as much as the rest of her Clan. She was apprehensive about this battle, but if Ivystar told her to fight, she would fight.

Poppypaw eyed the RiverClan patrol. She wasn't excited about this fight, but it was clear there was no other way to resolve this conflict. There was nothing left to do but to fight for her Clan as best she could.

Petalpaw followed her mother, eager to prove herself in battle. This would be her first fight against cats of another clan, and she wanted to prove that she was strong despite her delicate appearance. She would make her mother proud.

Softbreeze warily watched the approaching cats, sending Ashstar nervous glances. He didn't want this encounter to end in a fight... not because of fear of getting hurt. But because he didn't know how well Riverclan would take their defeat. Softbreeze's resolve hardened, and he stood beside his clanmates with pride. We are Windclan. We bow to no one.

"Ashstar, I come to you in peace. Your clans attack of our medicine cat, and your ally, ThunderClan's attacks have left our herb stores bare. We ask for your herbs to replenish ours, since your clan and your allies are the reason for our suffering. Surely even you can see this isn't an unreasonable ask." Ivystar watched the leader carefully, scoping out the sheer amount of WindClanners that had assembled. It seemed that Ashstar was eager for war over negotiations, even though she'd yet to hear what they'd come for. Bold, nothing like that coward that lived in the forest, but also ultimately foolish. RiverClan had bested their warriors once before, and they would do so again easily.

Ashstar listened to Ivystar and raised an eyebrow. "You come in peace with half your Clan onto my territory, claws unsheathed?" she repeated coolly with a flick of her tail. "I already apologized on behalf of my Clanmate who hurt your medicine cat apprentice. I unfortunately am unable to turn back time. Leaf-bare is a hard season, and with a murderous former apprentice of ours causing damage, foxes, a blinded Clanmate, and an outbreak of sickness, we have great need of our own herbs. There is no possible way that we could spare some, as great as your need probably is." Not to mention Mottleheart and Featherlight were low enough on herbs as it was. "However, newleaf is on its way. Leaves and flowers are coming, and the herbs will soon too. If you wait for just a little while, there will be plenty of herbs for everyone. More bloodshed, and a loss on your part, will only make your situation worse. Please, Ivystar, see sense and do not force this fight." She doubted that the RiverClan she-cat would accept that, she'd obviously come here prepared to fight. But it wasn't like they hadn't been in this situation befire- and this time, they had the upper paw. Strengthened by her Clanmates around her, the WindClan leader waited tensely for Ivystar's reply.

Her eyes were darker than usual, and her tail was low. She knew what they were here for, rosepaw acknowledged that fact. But, she stood there, waiting for what would happen next. If, truly, it would take a drastic turn.

Laurelsong stood alongside her parents and Nectarleap, unsheathed claws dug deep into the moorland soil, and fangs bared in a warning snarl.  The bold she-cat's eyes glowed like green flame as she glared threateningly across at her enemies, the cats who dared to set their paws into her territory and threaten her clanmates.  Ivystar's claim for herbs disgusted her; so what if their cats were sick?  That wasn't WindClan's problem, and in case she hadn't noticed, they were allied with ThunderClan, not RiverClan!  If any other situation, Laurelsong may have been okay with sharing herbs with the clan from below the Gorge; favors turn into debts, which turn into favors in return, but the moors were almost bare of useful herbs, and the medicine cat's stock was running thin.  Plus, these fish-munchers had just waltzed over the border onto their land with a war-like force...that would not be tolerated.  Despite Ashstar's plead for peace, the pale-pelted she-cat tensed her shoulders and let out a low, furious hiss.  Her clan would not be disrespected, not while she was on the battlefield.

Silentstrike weakly smiled at Laurelsong, he was definitely worried about the Young Warrior, but she had her mothers spirit, and he was confident that she would do fine if it came down to it. Ivystar's request was completely unreasonable in his eyes, asking for their hard earned herbs for nothing in return. Those fox-hearts! How could they? First, they defeat ThunderClan and fester with the wound by taking their medicine cat and warrior, and now they want WindClan's herbs?! This just simply would not do. Directly following Laurelsong's hiss, he let out a deep growl that seemed to drag on and on.

The small frame that stood somewhere near the front remained rigid, and Gustpuddle intended to keep it that way until she was dismissed or the call for battle was made. She'd fight for her Clan, and RiverClan would not get their herbs. WindClan had been defeated before, but they were stronger now, better. Mottleheart and Featherlight's stores wouldn't be touched, and she was going to make sure of that.

Lionstorm hissed in disbelief at Ivystar’s audacity, to actually believe what they were asking was in any way reasonable or even sanctioned by the warrior code. The golden warrior gazed at the enemy leader looking for some hint that she understood that she was wrong, but in those eyes all he saw was cold darkness, it seemed the forest had become home to an entire clan of forsaken oathbreakers, and it was now his duty as a warrior to set it right. Let them come then, let them see what Windclan does to oathbreakers. He thought earnestly.

Lakewhisper followed his leader into the WindClanners' camp, a determined and fierce look on his face. They had lost Tigerpaw because of them. They could have easily given up some herbs, and then maybe Tigerpaw would still be alive. He had been stricken with grief whenever the young cat had passed on to StarClan, but now he was just angry. He was furious that WindClan would just stand by and let an innocent apprentice die when they could have helped. With his white and black striped pelt fluffed out in rage, he came to stand beside Snowblossom, almost protectively. No matter what happened, he would make sure that she came back home.

"Apologies will not feed our kin, or heal our wounded. It seems we are at a stand-still then. My ill will not make Newleaf, the snow around the river has yet to melt. If you will not pay the price of your foolish clanmate willingly, we will do it by force. Tonight, we wet the moors with WindClan's blood. Perhaps that will help melt this snow." Ivystar snarled her battle cry before she lunged at the the grey leader. She slammed into her body, pelt against pelt as she forced the elder leader's face into the snow. As there was no river to plunge her head into, she gripped her scruff between her teeth, shaking it brutally to rattle whatever grey-matter laid between her stubborn head.

Viperstorm went out and attacked a warrior as soon as Ivystar lead the charge. The gray she-cat spotted Laurelsong and instantly attacked the she-cat.

Amberpelt was silent as the leaders spoke to one another, before she sighed softly as Ivystar started to say her final peace. The warrior shook her pelt, digging her claws into the snow covered ground. So combat it was. She would have preferred not to have to spill their blood again but if they weren't willing to sway to Ivystar's demands, then so be it. She crouched as Ivystar sprung forward and the battle truly begun - his gaze sweeping over the gathered WindClan cats before she made her choice. With a yowl of her own, she darted forward and rammed into a tom she didn't recognize. Her claws sank into his pelt as threw all of her weight onto him, her green eyes darken as the sound of combat spit the air around them.

Amberpelt used Jumping Strike on Badgerthorn. Dealing 12 damage and costing 20 stamina.

Otterleap was half-zoned out as the leaders began their inevitable bickering. He knew each word about to be said and accepted it. But once Ivystar yowled, the battle was on. He rushed at the nearest warrior his size, taking them down and roughly tossing them around.

Minnowslip was ready, her claws out and primed to attack. She was eager for the battle, ready to break them for what they did not do. And when Ivystar gave the battle cry, she shot out like a streak of lightning, smashing into a warrior her size. She was small, just like her. The perfect target.
