While the Fox was distracted, Lilytail kicked the predator in the side with her hind legs. She grinned at Minnowslip. It was close to its end. They could do this!

Minnowslip gave her fellow warrior, Lilytail, a nod of recognition. The fox was finally weakening and it was time to lay the final blow. She pounced on it's back and used her incisors to severe it's spine, the beast going limp beneath her. It was done, finally.

"Is everyone okay? Anyone hurt badly?" Her worst fear was that one of these apprentices would be fatally wounded like many apprentices before them were by foxes. These mangy beasts were far more deadly than they looked.

The fox collapsed from pain, her eyes closing until they shut down for the very last time.

Heronpaw watched the life ebb away. When Minnowslip asked if anyone was okay, he chirped, "I'm okay! How about everyone else?" he asked to the other apprentices.

Thoroughly soaked to the bone, Adderpaw drew away from the writhing vixen as all of her Clanmates struck once more. Eyes narrowing slightly, the young she-cat watched as Lilytail practically kicked the fox  straight into Minnowslip's awaiting claws. Feeling her mouth twist at the sight of Minnowslip killing the vixen, she resisted the urge to sneeze at the harsh, metallic scent that filled the air. Was that really what death smelled like? Scrambling up the river bank and away from the freezing, muddied waters, Adderpaw awkwardly clambered around the limp form of the fox.

"I'm alright!" She loudly declared, giving herself a brisk shake in a futile attempt to dry out her drenched fur, also managing to spray her Clanmates in the process. "But what do we do with it?" Adderpaw questioned, leaning forward to give the dead vixen a wary sniff, "Can we eat it?"

As the fox closed its eyes one for the final time, Scorchpaw let out a sigh of relief. It was finally over. "I'm fine too." He mewed. Not wanting to stand in the icy waters a second longer, he struggled out unto the river bank. A chilly breeze swept by, causing the apprentice to let out a sneeze. He was wet, cold, and the disgusting taste of fox still lingered in his mouth. The mangy creature tasted as bad as it looked. "Eat it?" He asked, gazing incredulously at Adderpaw, "I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not going to be putting that thing in my mouth again anytime soon." He turned to Minnowslip and Lilytail. "Should we check around for its kits?" The last time he had fought a fox, Otterleap had sought out the fox kits and killed them as well.

"Good idea, Scorchpaw. A fox kit could still take out a wandering kit if they get the chance. But lets make sure this vixen didn't have a mate. I don't know how fox matings work, so I don't want to risk it." Though she was the one to say it, she couldn't help wrinkle her nose at the idea of these orange beasts mating. Ew. They were so smelly, surely their own kind could barely tolerate them. She shook the stubborn intrusive thought out of her head as she sniffed around for a kit.

"It was just an idea!" Adderpaw huffed, rolling her eyes at Scorchpaw's gaze, feeling her skin heat beneath her fur, "After all, not all of us have strong stomachs!" Sticking her tongue out at the tabby, she absently listened to her denmate's conversation with Minnowslip, doing her best to dry herself off. Kill the kits? The thought put a slight damper on her mood as she recalled how devastated her mother had been whenever one of her kits had died, but she tried to force away the intrusive thoughts. It's a different situation! Forcing herself to follow after her older sister, Adderpaw began to nose around as she reluctantly searched for the unfortunate kit.

Heronpaw searched for a den, looking for a fox den. He suddenly realized...he didn't know what a fox den looked like. "What does a fox den look like?" he asked one of the warriors.
