A Simple Hunt [Open Patrol]

Bonestrike waited at the entrance of the Shadowclan camp. The rising night was getting cold, and he wanted to go out and get some prey before they hid away from the cold. The pure white tom was standing, his orange eyes scanning the camp for maybe a few cats to join him in his expedition. Hopefully they could make this quick.

Ryeheart ducked out of the warrior's den and caught sight of Bonestrike, the tom seemingly looking for others to join him.  Assuming it was a patrol, the ginger tabby tom grunted slightly before padding over to see, a bit unenthusiastic.  The lingering grip of depression still clung to his body and soul, but the warrior was beginning to find that, after his late night talk with Willowheart, he was beginning to gain back some of his former energy.  Greeting the white-furred warrior with a faint smile, Ryeheart meowed in a voice slightly horse from the cold...and lack of use.  "You goin out?  I'll come too, if that's alright."  Maybe a good 'ol time of night hunting would help clear his mind...

Blazeflight saw Ryecloud heading out of the warrior's den, asking Bonestrike if he was going out on a patrol. She got up from beside the freshkill pile, shaking the snow out of her fur and silently noting that it was getting pretty low. She hadn't been assigned a patrol for a while, so why not go out and try to stock up on the pile? "If you guys are planning on going on a hunting patrol, I'll join you." Her head was beginning to hurt, so maybe a good old hunting patrol in the night air would help.

Bonestrike nodded. "Yeah, I'm leading a quick patrol before it gets too cold. I think all three of us can get something, let's go." The young warrior said. He flicked his tail leading the other two out of the camp.

Ryeheart followed closely behind Bonestrike as they exited the camp, fluffing out his thick pelt against the cold breeze.  He was right...they would have to be quick if they didn't want to end up stuck in the frosty marsh, freezing their tails off.  His icy blueish-green eyes narrowing, he lifted his muzzle and began scenting the air for any prey.

Blazeflight followed after the two toms, her head hung low, small tail drooping. She was tired, but definitely ready to go hunt again. She didn't mind the snow much, as her thick ginger fur protected her from most of the cold.

It took a minute, but soon enough Ryeheart had managed to catch a prey-scent; mouse.  Dropping into a crouch, the ginger tabby tom stalked forward silently, his icy eyes narrowing into concentrated slits.  Sneaking around the base of a tall pine and around a leafless brush, he barely caught sight of the small creature, it blended in with the brown marshy earth extremely well.  The rodent was quite scrawny, clearing feeling the effects of leaf-bare just like the cats, but it would do.  Unsheathing his claws, he dug them into the ground as he pushed off, leaping across the ground towards the animal.  Whacking the mouse into the air, when it landed stunned on the ground it took him less than a heartbeat to dash forward and nip it's spine, quickly killing it.  After stashing it in a shallow hollow and covering it with dead leaves, Ryeheart glanced around to see where the rest of the patrol was at.
