Rhythm of the Hunt [Open Patrol]

Batglow sat patiently at the entrance of the camp. Yellow green eyes scanned the clearing of the camp trying to see if any of his clanmates wanted to join him for a simple hunt. The tall black tom dragged his tongue across his protruding fangs before straightening up again. He looked back at the Asylum cats that were eyeing him. He let out a low rumbling growl at them before perking up at the sound of one of his clanmates or nicer Asylum cats. A smile quickly gracing his maw, his eyes brightening. "Would you like to join me for a hunt?"

Mistyfalcon stretched, back arching as he sighed and stood, shaking out his dark fur. A look around camp revealed Asylum cats lounging around, of course... And Batglow waiting by the entrance of camp. Waiting for a patrol, it looked like.

Mistyfalcon approached his friend, figuring that maybe he'd ask to tag along. Before he could speak, Batglow asked him if he wanted to go hunting.

"Hey, Batglow." Mistyfalcon smirked, "Like you have to ask." Hunting was always preferable to sitting in camp, especially when sitting in camp meant having Asylum eyes on him. Not that hunting would let them get away from the rogues either.

"I'm glad you are always willing to come along with me." Batglow said. He always enjoyed the company of the other tom, but he wanted to wait another moment before heading out to see if any others would join this time, but it seemed it wasn't meant to be. It would be just them again and then their.. Company.. But oh well. The two of them could catch something at least.

Batglow stood up from his spot. "It seems it's just the two of us again." A grin on his maw. "Let's get going shall we?" The tom said before gesturing for Mistyfalcon to lead the way this time.

"I'm sure we'll have more company soon enough. Let's go." Of course, he referred to the Asylum, whose company was as unwelcome as a fox would be among pheasants. Mistyfalcon didn't mind the hunt turning into just the two warriors, but it felt strange still to not have Brighteye or Murkystrike join in. Even Flintstar seemed preoccupied with other things.

With a shrug, Mistyfalcon followed Batglow out of camp. If one ignored the rogues that trailed them, and ignored the snow on the ground, it was almost like they were apprentices going on a hunt again.

Mistyfalcon flicked his tail, indicating he'd spotted prey, and sank into a crouch before creeping forward. A bit closer... The warrior sprang forward. Just as he'd prepared to leap, the soft crunch of snow under a cat's paw could be heard, and Mistyfalcon let out a soft hiss as the mouse darted out of reached.

Straightening, Mistyfalcon turned to see... an almost guilty expression on the face of one of the guards. Mistyfalcon stared at the guard for a moment, eyes narrowed. Hackles lifted in annoyance before the warrior gave himself a small shake.

Fighting with their captors wasn't worth it. A low growl reverberated in his throat, and Mistyfalcon whipped around in search of something else to hunt. Hopefully Batglow was having better luck.

Batglow nodded his head in response. Yeah.. Asylum couldn't leave them alone even for a second could they? Even if it was just something as simple as hunting. The tom trailed behind his friend before he found a piece of prey to hunt. Nodding, the lanky black tom branched off from his partner, wishing him luck on his catch.

Doing his best to ignore the cold that was slowly seeping its way into his short fur, the tom followed the scents before he managed to find something that was relatively close. The tom followed the scent of a rat. He knew he had to be careful with those but it was still prey that they needed during this time.

Batglow sank into a crouch, moving forward with silent step despite the cold white snow. Once he had sight of the rat and he was close enough, he sprang forward paws and claws ready to trap it. Once he felt the creature trapped within his paws, he swiftly killed it, and buried it under the dirt right there to collect for later. They didn't need to lose it.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw one of the Asylum guards, causing his mouth to draw up into a snarl, and his eyes to narrow. Why did they have to be so annoying?

Mistyfalcon stalked past the guard with an icy glare, dark gaze sweeping over his surroundings. It wasn't long before he managed to pick up the scent of another mouse, and the dark-furred warrior carefully slid into a crouch once more, being careful where he put his paws as he stalked the fuzzy creature. He made another leap, fully intending that this time the mouse wouldn't be scared off.

His paws landed squarely on the mouse, and Mistyfalcon quickly nipped the back of it's neck to kill it. Turning to bury the mouse, his ears pricked up as he began searching for another piece of prey.

Batglow moved on ignoring the guard that stood just out of range. At least they were managing to catch something with or without help. He still didn't appreciate how often they stood by more often then not. With a sigh, the tom kept moving, closer and closer into the more marshy ground of the territory.

As he moved carefully avoiding more of the worst of the ice, the tom caught scent of a frog. Carefully he crouched down. He crept closer and closer before he pounced onto the frog, hoping it was too slow to realize what doom wanted it. Despite getting some of the cold water upon himself the tom emerged with the frog in his jaws. He carried carefully so his fangs didn't do any damage to the frog before it was returned to camp. The lanky tom buried it away from the marshy ground, before moving on.

Mouse buried in a... relatively dry spot, Mistyfalcon continued his search for prey. Picking up the scent of prey, he decided to follow it, giving Batglow a brief nod as he passed the other tom with a frog in his jaws.

A large gray shape was in the snow, and Mistyfalcon paused, body lowering into a crouch. Squirrel, scrawny on account of leafbare, but he'd try to catch it anyways. The dark tom crept forward, then leapt forward, claws outstretched. He'd misjudged his leap, however, and his claws landed just before the fluffy creature. Mistyfalcon bounded forward, but the squirrel was faster, managing to scamper up a nearby tree while Mistyfalcon lashed his tail once in frustration.

There would be other prey to catch, though this certainly wasn't his best outing.

Batglow looked up at the sky for a moment, trying to figure out exactly how much time has passed since he left on the hunt with Mityfalcon. Maybe.. Maybe he had time to go for one more? Maybe more? He didn't mind staying out longer depending on how his clanmate was feeling. The lanky black tom looked around his mouth open taking in scents once more. He could go for at least one more before checking on his clanmate.

The black cat treaded through the terrain carefully, following certain scents hoping to find something or anything. The tom froze midstep when the scent of lizard hit his nose. Yellow green eyes scanned the clearing, checking for where it might be located. Once he caught sight of the creature the tom sank low and pushed forward. His eyes remaining locked on his target. As soon as he felt he was close enough the tom launched forward. He landed but the lizard was quicker, scurrying away and under tree roots where he couldn't follow.

"Rat dung.." He cursed lowly to himself before trudging off to go find Mistyfalcon and check on the tom.
