Rowanpaw's Assessment [[Closed]]

Silentstorm padded towards the apprentices den to wake up his apprentice. "Rowanpaw! get up! It's a very important day for you." He meowed before turning around and making his way to the entrance of camp to wait for Rowanpaw. It was finally time for the older apprentices assessment and Silentstorm couldn't be prouder of the young tom. He had trained long and hard for this moment and he had nothing but confidence that Rowanpaw would pass with flying colors.

Rowanpaw got to his feet eagerly, his handsome red pelt rippling as he strode confidently over to Silentstorm with a grin. He couldn't help but feel nervous, despite his confident outward appearance, and his tail twitched anxiously."Where are we going?" The tom mewed to his mentor.

Silentstorm smiled at his apprentices mixed emotions. "Follow me. It's time for your assessment." He meowed, turning to pad out into the marsh. He had decided that they would start in the middle of the territory so Rowanpaw would have to work a bit harder. He wanted to make sure that the spotted tom really knew what he was doing. He wasn't going to coddle his apprentices. That would never make them into great warriors, but would make them into cats who couldn't do anything for themselves. "Alright. Now I want you to gather 3 pieces of prey for your assessment. You will have until sunrise to do so, which I believe should be plenty of time." He meowed clearly after pausing to look at his apprentice. "Though you won't be able to see me, I will he watching g you the whole time to assess your hunting skills and progress." He continued, explaining how the whole thing will go. Now his more serious demeanor relaxed. "You've trained long and hard for this night and I'm confident you will do well." He purred genuinely. "Now, good luck." He said, flicking his fluffy black and white tail as signal to start.

The tom shot his mentor an admiring grin before racing off silently through the marsh.

He slowed to a walk once he was a little ways away, his ears pricked. Parting his jaws, he tested the air for any scents.
His ears twitched- he had heard a scratching sound coming from a small pile of fallen branches not too far away.
The tom immediately dropped into a classic hunting crouch and began making his way towards the sound. As he got closer he saw that it was a small shrew that was nibbling on a small seed. Instantly he leapt, crushing it with his paws silently. He dug a small hole and buried it before moving on.

Silentstorm crept among the marsh all the while keeping an eye on Rowanpaw and his progress. He was doing very well so far, and his green gaze shone with pride.

Rowanpaw trotted onward, making his way towards a marshier area of the territory. He crouched in the shadows, letting the spots on his pelt and the dappled sun do most of the hiding work for him.

He heard a loud sound and turned, his eyes wide as a badger came barreling at him with a loud roar-like snarl.

It hadn't been long after Silentstorm watched Rowanpaw catch the shrew when he scented a badger. Fur standing on end, he leapt out of the cover of the brush with a low growl. "Rowanpaw. Stay back." He hissed through bared teeth, never taking his eyes off the hostile predator. He felt awful for the young tom who was interrupted in the middle of his assessment, but now wasn't the time to dwell on that. They had to fight this ugly predator off and make sure it never reached camp. With a fierce yowl, he leapt at the huge black and white animal and began pummeling its face with his front claws. "Get. Out." He spat.

The badger let out a surprised huff. Suddenly there were two creatures. He let out a bellow like a mad dog and struck the cat in the side with one heavy paw.

Rowanpaw rounded on the creature, hissing.
He ran straight at it and leapt onto it's back before turning swiftly to rake his front paw's sharp claws across it, driving them deep into it's skin and spitting madly.

Rowanpaw used Leap-and-hold, dealing 6 damage and losing 10 stamina. This move is in effect for 2 turns.

Silenstorm grunted in pain as the huge paw of a badger slammed into his side. It took him a moment before he regained his breath, but he was soon on his paws, letting out an irritated huff. Growling menacingly, the black and white tom sprang forward towards the badger and swiped at its shoulder and the side of its face with sure, confident blows.

Silentstorm used Front Paw Strike on Badger dealing 12 HP and 25 SP.

The badger reared, bellowing in rage as it struggled to shake the cat off it's back.

Rowanpaw leapt off the badger's back, taking a step back before rushing at it. He dove beneath it, ripping at it's stomach with his sharp claws. He leapt away, his green eyes narrow. "There's no way I'm leaving." He panted.

Silentstorm nodded to Rowanpaw. He was right. Rowanpaw could handle this. He was practically a warrior. Turning his attention back to the badger, he reared up on his hind legs and let loose a flurry of unsheathed slices at the badger's black and white face.
