Frostpaw's Assessment ((CLOSED))

Sitting near the camp entrance, Mudfoot waited for Frostpaw in silence. The sun was beginning to set and the chilly night air was settling across the forest, sending a shiver up his spine. Tonight, he would assess one of his few apprentices and he was confident that she would do great. Unfortunately, after training quiet a few apprentices non stop, he was beet, and personally hoped that it wouldn't take too long.

Frostpaw headed over to join Mudfoot at the entrance to the camp. His belly was tight and nervous, this assessment would mean a lot. "I'm ready Mudfoot" He meowed.

Giving a curt nod to the apprentice, Mudfoot stood up and padded towards the entrance but stopped and waited for Frostpaw. "Lead the way," he meowed with a smile. When conducting assessments, it was always good to let the apprentice take charge of the patrol since they'd need that skill in the future.

"OK" Frostpaw nervously led the way out of camp and headed into the murky territory, nose lifted to catch prey-scents. He could feel Mudfoot's eyes o his back, and he reaffirmed his determination to prove to his mentor and the Clan that he could hunt like a warrior. He padded through the undergrowth, butterflies increasing in his stomach the longer he didn't find anything. Finally he stumbled upon a lizard, sitting on a rock across a small clearing. Frostpaw stalked around the clearing though the bushes until he was only tail-lengths behind it, and pounced. He was satisfied with his first catch, and buried it to collect on his way back.

"Good job," the tom purred as he watched the apprentice catch his first piece of prey. "Catch two more pieces of prey and then we'll patrol the border," he mewed with a smile, glad to see Frostpaw's assessment going so well, even after just starting.

Frostpaw nodded, feeling better about how this was going, and set off through the bushes once again. He could do it! Soon, he would be a warrior. He stalked through the shadows and suddenly heard a mouse scrambling around some tree roots in front of him. He began to pad as lightly as possible towards the roots. Frostpaw leaped over the roots and his claws found the mouse. He felt a surge of satisfaction, and his nervousness was completely gone. The prey in this territory had no chance against him.

Watching as Frostpaw caught a piece of prey, Mudfoot wanted to cheer joy from the apprentice's success, but quickly shut his jaw. Don't want to lower his chances of catching the last piece of prey, the tom thought to himself, continuing to trot after the apprentice happily and making sure to stay hidden as the hunt continued.

Frostpaw prowled until he reached the marshes, hoping to chance upon a frog. Luck was with him, and and he found one munching on flies at the side of pool. Frostpaw begain to charge at it. Just as he began to leap, and owl swooped down upon the frog. Fear sprang through him, but anger did as well at the creature trying to steal his prey. He continued his charge and sprang on the unsuspecting owl, knocking it over. He saw the frog leap away slowly, but hit anger was focused on the owl.

The owl quickly got up and and flow low ever Frostpaw, swiping him across the ear with its talons. Frostpaw yowled in pain, as blood began to run down the side of his face.

Letting out a surprised yowl when an owl suddenly swooped down and attacked Frostpaw. Where in StarClan's name had it come from? Lifting his haunches with eyes narrowed, Mudfoot leaped towards his apprentice so that he stood between Frostpaw and the owl. Rearing up on his hind legs and letting out a menacing hiss, the warrior slashed wildly at the bird that hovered above the ground and when he was done, jumped out of the way so that it's talons wouldn't be able to hook onto his pelt.

Mudfoot used Rear-up to Slash, causing 17 damage and costing 15 stamina.

Frostpaw let out a hiss of satisfaction as his mentor dash in and raked claws down its body. The bird started to look flustered and it hovered low for a moment, seemingly about to take of into the sky. Frostpaw yowled, "I'm taking you in as replacement for that frog, mousedung!" He ran and leaped at the retreating owl, grabbing its tail feathers in his mouth, and bringing it down to the ground hard.

The owl lay on the ground for a moment, obviously dazed, but after a moment it started to rise.

Smiling at Frostpaw's determination, Mudfoot waited for the owl to be brought down and reared up once more. Slashing it's claws at the bird's chest, he let out a battle stricken yowl. No one hurt his apprentices, especially not a piece of foxhearted prey!
