The world seemed to burn (Open)

Sandblaze was about to follow after everybody else but he stopped to help Lionspark. "Lionspark come on!" He meowed. He tried to pull the she at to the camp entrance but suddenly a burning branch fell on him and killed him.

Shrewkit frankly wasn't scared at all. To him it seemed just like he was suddenly really hot everywhere, and of course strange orange flames lighting up the camp. Ignoring the heat and staying out of the way of the flames, Shrewkit calmly padded out of his hiding place under some moss and over to his mother. He was forced to change course when the moss he had been hiding under caught on fire, but was able to make it to Darkstar. "Which way is sunning rocks?" he asked his mother and leader, hoping she wasn't freaking out like everyone else seemed to be.

Lionspark jolted as she felt jaws grip her scruff, barely managing to turn her head to see Sandblaze gripping onto her. "I'm not leaving until everybody else is out!" The warrior screeched as she dug her claws into the ground, fighting against the pull with narrowed eyes. She had to remain behind - she had to help anybody who might get trapped. But then her ears perked, the sound of crackling flames above her but something else...The breaking of a branch. Her eyes widen, her mouth opening to shout a warning but it was far to late. A branch crashed into the clearing, flames sputtering from the dried bark as the grip that Sandblaze had on her was suddenly gone. Lionspark yowled at the burning pain of the flames scorching her pelt, stumbling backwards as she swirled in terror to see Sandblaze unmoving beneath the large branch - flames already hungrily trying to consume his body.

"No!" There was pure terror in her voice as she lurched forward, not wasting a moment as her paws made contact with the burning branch. It hurt but she bit back another yowl as the flames scorched her paws as she pushed the branch off of Sandblaze's body, saving him from being devoured by the hungrily flame. She leaned down, grabbing the scruff of the tom who tried to save her as she started to tug the tom toward the entrance of the camp. Her eyes scanned the group of fleeing cats, looking for somebody who could take the body to Sunningrocks - still planning to remain behind to make sure everybody escaped despite seeing the death of such a young warrior. She didn't have time to process it all - so much was happening and she would mourn once everybody else was free.

Hawkpaw bristled as he saw Specklepaw struggling from the side effects of the fire. He bound over to her, offering himself as something to lean on. "Save your breath, idiot!" He said with a voice of genuine worry. He looked back at the camp, his den in smolders, the camp in chaos. He started coughing harshly, eyes watering. Embers fell on his pelt and were shaken off quickly. "We need to leave, you can talk to Lionspark later." He hissed urgently.

Barkpaw hadn't been in the apprentice's den long. He was finally settling into his new nest and had fallen asleep when suddenly there were cries of fire. Immediately everyone was scattering about him as he jolted awake and jumped to his paws. Fire? What was that? He didn't bother asking, however. Instead, he did his best to follow the others until suddenly there was a loud crack! and a flaming hot branch crash landed right in front of the only opening to the den. With a gasp, the new apprentice pushed himself back from the intense heat and furious light that came from the burning branch. Instantly, all of his fears about fire were confirmed. It was hot and it was dangerous.

Thankfully, however, the voice of Blizzardshine broke through the crackling of the branch and suddenly there was another hole. It was big enough for the apprentices to escape as the den quickly began filling up with smoke. Finally, as the last body scrambled out of the hole, Barkpaw followed behind, finally bursting into the clearing of the camp. All around them was fire. It burned everything in sight. Dark clouds of smoke filled the sky and blanketed the whole camp with a thick layer of soot as he tried his best to follow the others.

A loud cry suddenly filled his ears as he glanced over to see Lionspark over the body of a cat that was crushed by one of the branches. A sharp gasp escaped his throat which immediately turned into a coughing fit of smoke and ash. For only a moment, the apprentice hesitated, wanting to help but he didn't know these cats. What was he supposed to do? Instead, he turned tail and ran after the others, following them to this... 'Sunning Rocks.'

Rookpaw had never run faster in his entire life. He hadn't woken up to the shouts of his Clanmates, he had woken up to the pungent and acrid smell of smoke. It burned his lungs and his eyes fluttered open, only to be welcomed by gray fumes flooding the apprentices' den. His eyes quickly began to water, and he practically tore apart his nest as he unsheathed his claws and pulled himself up and out of the den. He had no notion of not obeying orders, and he immediately raced towards the camp entrance, knowing where Sunningrocks was. The fire was overwhelming, and the hungry red flames flickered inside and around the camp, eating up whatever it touched without any remorse. Rookpaw dashed after his Clanmates, heading towards the spot that they were supposed to go. Lives were at stake here, and he was silently praying to StarClan that ThunderClan would not lose any valuable members today.
StarClan, protect me and my Clanmates! The tom yelled inside of his head as his muscles began to scream with protest. If their ancestors decided to be good to them, nobody would be lost. Now all he could do was run...and run...and run...and hope.

Blazingpaw's head shot up from a nap as startled and terrified cats scattered out of Thunderclan's entrance. Eyes widening in shock, he quickly rose to his paws and ran for his life, adrenaline and fear pumping through his veins. Was Leopardclaw okay? Was Darkstar okay? Was ANYONE okay? He felt like he was walking on the sun, his paws heating up and his furry body heavy. Blazingpaw's massive pelt was soon stained black, and he started to cough. His body ached as angry flames rose around the camp like hellfire. He made it up to the rest of the clan, spluttering and coughing from the smog. Sparing a glance at Specklepaw and Hawkpaw, he ran alongside his clan, not stopping for a second.

A portion of Darkstar's worries were extinguished when her son padded up to her, not scared in the slightest. "Shrewkit, we're all going to somewhere else, okay? It isn't safe here right now." Although she now knew that two of her kittens were safe, out of the corner of her eye she spotted a flaming branch crashing into the clearing, killing Sandblaze. 'Starclan, what have we done?' She took her young son in her jaws and raced to the entrance, pausing only to look at Lionspark.

"Lionspark." Terror and grief filled her gaze. Her eyes were the color of the sky during a hurricane. "Lionspark, leave him. If you try to bring him you'll die too. I'm sorry." The leader shoved the warrior toward the entrance before fleeing towards Sunningrocks, Shrewkit swinging in her jaws.

Leafpaw swung back and forth, Stormkit in his jaws. Finally he turned back into the camp, passing the kit into the jaws of a warrior. He leapt over fallen branches, looking for any cats left behind. Finally, grunting and coughing, he turned to leave.
He couldn't find his way out- His lungs were screaming for air and he was half-blinded by the smoke. His fur was prickling with heat. He ran back and forth, searching for some way out of the flaming camp.

Blizzardshine turned her hear just in time to see the branch fall on Sandblaze, feeling the world around her stop for a couple of seconds as the memory of the time she had to witness a branch kill Crowstar many moons ago in that same way flashed across her eyes, causing her to go completely still for a second or two before coming back to the blazing inferno that was the real world. Shaking her head she quickly padded towards Lionspark right after Darkstar had shared some words with her that she simply couldn’t hear above the roar of the flames and the voices of her panicking clanmates. Her eyes fell on the limp body of Sandblaze, confirming her fear.

Lowering her ears and closing her eyes tightly, she tried to hold back the tears caused by this event, she had to stay focused on what was happening, not let anyone else go through this awful fate “We need to leave, now!” She yowled at the top of her lungs to be heard by everyone before turning to Lionspark “You need to leave too…”.

Finally Leafpaw found a way out. Hacking and coughing he charged after the other cats, to sunning rocks. To safety.
