The world seemed to burn (Open)

Blizzardshine had to pull her head out from Darkstar’s den as soon as she started to hear the screams and panic of her clanmates The fire’s already here?! How did it spread so fast?! Without thinking it twice she darted towards the middle of the camp, avoiding the cats that got in her way, attempting to get a better look of her surroundings and know what was going on.

It was then when she noticed with a terrified expression that the apprentice’s den was blocked off by a blazing branch. Not even thinking it twice, she rushed towards the den, movement coming from one of the walls on the other side letting her know that there was somebody trying to make a way out through the brambles. Using her bigger paws and claws, and ever her fangs to rip apart pieces of the brambles, she helped whoever was on the other side until when, with one last slash and pull, they managed to make a hole big enough to let the apprentices out, her warried gaze turning into a smile as she noticed the heroic apprentice “Good job, Specklepaw. Now, quick, help anyone in there out quick, we need to leave right now!” She wished she could give better instructions and praise her more for her quick thinking and initiative, but there was just no time “Hurry up! We are running out of time!” She mowed over the roar of the flames, ignoring the cuts on her paws and muzzle left by the brambles and the burning smoke on her eyes.

Honeypaw had been resting in her nest when she heard her twin brother calling her name. Fur bushing up slightly in surprise the golden spotted she cat jumped to her paws before she looked to the silhouette of her brother. She heard the urgency in his voice and blinked coming over"what's going on Reedpaw"she mewed her ears pricked. She looked around and she could spot some of the fire. They for her in gear."I need to get Sparkflower"she mewed tail bristled slightly in fear and worry.

Clearpaw was doing his best to keep up with the situation, scanning the area for cats he recognized, trying to see if any cats were missing, but it was chaos, and it was impossible to try to account for every cat. The fire was growing, the roar of flames beginning to overtake the sounds of voices. It was sweltering hot, and Clearpaw felt as though he couldn't get a proper lungful of air with the smoke so thick. So, after making sure no cats were left in the nursery, he left the camp, following his clanmates (though to where, he wasn't sure).

Darkstar's sleep had been haunted by nightmares. The air smelled of smoke, her Clanmates were crying out in panic and pain, and where, where were her kits? Soon, though, the leader realized all too quickly that she wasn't asleep at all. This was real. She burst out of her den, eyes wide as she watched her camp falling apart in slow motion. Embers trailed in the breeze, starting new fires wherever they happened to land. This was chaos. 'What has ThunderClan done to you, StarClan? What are we doing that justifies all the territory being destroyed?' She pleaded to the stars that lay hidden above the veil of smoke hovering over the camp.

For a moment she couldn't speak, but she soon gained her tongue. "ThunderClan! Retreat to Sunningrocks!" Sunningrocks was RiverClan's territory at the moment. Darkstar could only hope that they had some soul within them to allow the whole of her Clan to flee to safety.

With the order given, the leader then raced to the nursery for her kits, spotting Pinekit hidden in the nest. But where were the others? "Peatkit! Shrewkit! Stormkit! Mossykit!" This was far worse than any night terror she had ever experienced.

Leopardclaw was one of the last cats to burst out of the warrior's den, hazel eyes wide with panic and shock.  My home, my territory!  Oh StarClan, how could this happen?  Coughing as found his way through the smoke, he watched as his clanmates rushed around him, making their way towards the entrance on Darkstar's demand.  The golden spotted tom wouldn't leave though until he knew his family was safe and by his side.  Catching sight of the twins outside of the medicine den, he rushed up to Honeypaw and Reedpaw and skidded to a halt.  "We need to get out of here, where's Lichenfang and Cherrykit?"  He twisted his head around, desperately searching the clearing, even though the smoke was beginning to burn his eyes.  Blinking rapidly, he managed to yowl out a horse call; "Lichenfang!  Cherrykit!  Answer me!"

Owlpaw nodded to Falconpaw words she turned around keeping low when she saw the bramble covering the entrance to the apprentice den. About to rush over there she saw Blizzardshine was able to break it apart. Through her smoke filled tears she saw Darkstar rush out of her den. She ran outside the camp just managing to here her instructions, following everybody.

Lichenfang was one of the last queens to leave the nursery. She was looking around for her daughter Cherrykit but to no avail. She didn t know where the she kit was. She heard Leopardclaw's hoarse call and coughed a bit before she went to him the smoke getting to the scarred she cat.

Jaysong was one of the last to come from the warriors den gray spotted pelt ruffling up in alarm but she forced herself to remain calm.

Falconpaw picked up Pinekit before running out of the camp, he ran as fast as he could to the safety of Sunningocks, only there did he put down Darkstar's kit.

Clearpaw searched desperately through the undergrowth for the kits that were unaccounted for; but he could only search for so long, because the blaze was catching up with them. He didn't know what to do except send a prayer to StarClan that all of his clanmates would make it safely to Sunningrocks. Thankfully, most of his den-mates seemed to be accounted for, but where was his mentor? "Blacktwig!" He called; but even if Blacktwig responded, Clearpaw wasn't even sure he would be able to hear him, and his voice was growing hoarse from the smoke. So, he began making his way towards Sunningrocks, though he was moving slowly, searching through the dense undergrowth for the missing kits.

Leopardclaw let out a heaving sigh of relief when he saw Lichenfang rush out of the smoke, taking a very brief moment to nuzzle the calico she-cat's neck.  When he backed away though, he noticed that something was missing; "Where's Cherrykit?!" His tiny calico daughter was not hanging from his mate's jaws, and a tight feeling of panic began to set in.  Hazel eyes wide and reddened from the thick smoke, his paws itched to go dashing back into the thick gray cloud and search until his daughter was retrieved; but he couldn't leave his family.  A deep confliction raging inside him, Leopardclaw let out a scared, worried whine before deciding against his heart's interest. "We...we have to go! She probably got picked up by someone on the way out." His voice was tense and hopeless, and his eyes were dull; just the sight of the camp engulfed in the turmoil of the flames pained his heart; the thought of his kitten wandering lost in the heat though almost broke him. Leading his family out of camp and towards Sunningrocks after the others, he remained stoically silent. Grasswhisker....how could you let this happen?!

Rainwhisper ran from the warriors den to his mothers. "Blizzardshine I've got my mother." He meowed calmly. There was no time for panicking.

Coldbreeze helped out with the kits as best she could and then she heard Leopardclaw's call. The older warrior looked to the spotted tom. "Leopardclaw! Calm down! I'll go get her." The white warrior meowed her icy blue eyes locked on the nursery as she ran inside the burning den. She grabbed Cherrykit and ran back to Leopardclaw and handed him his daughter then ran back inside to help whoever else was stuck in there. "Hello? Anybody else in the nursery?" She called out.

Badgerstrike helped make a hold on the part of the camp wall that wasn't burning. "This way! This part isn't burning!!" He yowled to be heard over the roar of the fire.

Hailkit was the first of Cloudstorm's kits to get out and he waited for his other siblings. He herded them towards Badgerstrike and told them to stay safe.

Tigerkit, Splashkit, Redkit, and Birchkit followed their oldest brother, they were apprentices aged and size so they made it out ok.

It was far too hot to be nighttime.

Poppypaw jolted awake as she realized that the heat was accompanied the most sinister scent she had ever encountered in her life, along with the frantic yowls of her Clanmates. Eyes brimming with smoke-induced tears and chest tightening from the smoke inhalation, she was unable to even understand what was actually happening. Scrambling to her paws and swinging her head around, she realized that everything was actually on fire! Panic flooded her body and suddenly she was blindly smashing through a weak point in the flaming bramble wall, ignoring the way that the thorns slashed at her face and body. Staggering to a halt and coughing, Poppypaw swung around to see if Specklepaw had escaped the clutches of the den yet, only to be greeted with the sight of the larger she-cat trying to hold open the main entrance of the den. "Specklepaw!" Poppypaw yowled above the clamor, stinging cuts marring her sides, shaking herself to rid her body of soot and burnt debris that clung to her thick fur. The smoke stung her eyes, nose, and throat, but she refused to leave before seeing the younger apprentice free herself from the den. "We need to go now!" She howled, tapering off into a raspy cough.

Specklepaw nodded blearily in recognition of Blizzardshine's compliment, her breath coming in heavy as she coughed some more. She was glad for her sheer size, it was extremely useful as of then. When Poppypaw rushed out through the weak point she had created she felt her heart clench with glee, her best friend was free! But when Poppypaw turned to call for her, she shook her head and pulled back into the den. It was weak and there was a hole in it, but she had to get the apprentices out! Lashing around she pulled at the scruffs of the apprentice's a groan pulling itself from her throat as she did so, her throat feeling scratchy and the need to cough arising once more.

Once they were out and free, the whole den was alight. The she-cat choked, her courage seemed to run out as she looked around the collapsing den. As a portion of the roof gave way it sent the nests ablaze, the fire spit and crackled as she turned to the wall where she had made the hole. It might as well been a ring of fire, something seemed to settle in Specklepaw's chest as her paws seemed to have a mind of their own. She shot through the hole, her fur catching the flames and shrivelling. The she-cat tripped over her paws and tumbled into the dirt, hacking her lungs out or so it seemed.

Blood seemed to spit from her mouth but she didn't care as she stumbled to her paws, she had to get out! She had done her best, she had helped the apprentice's out of the den. She could do no more as her vision fizzled and popped before clearing for a moment as she stumbled towards the camp entrance, shaking like a bald rat high on fear. Though she hoped that in some way she could help more, she felt weak and useless like she hadn't done enough.

The sudden thought of her mother burning to a crisp made Specklepaw's fur bristle, or what was left of it. She struggled to turn, her lungs seeming to rattle in her chest as she began to panic some more. "Mom! Mom!" She called, desperation making her voice crack and break as she frantically searched for her.

"Everybody out!" Lionspark stood in the middle of the burning camp, her head raised high as she glanced around for any cats remaining behind as they all fled into the territory and toward the river. The air was becoming hard to breathe in, every breath burning her throat but yet she remained steadfast as the camp crumbled around her. Warriors, apprentices, kits...It was all important that they all escaped and Lionspark would happily be the last cat to escape if it meant that everybody else made it out alive. The survival of ThunderClan was the most important thing, not her safety. Her eyes remained open however for certain familiar pelts within the stream of cats, her neck craned as she struggled to catch a glimpse of her mate and kits. She had to know they were safe, that they made it out. Her ears however caught a voice almost buried by the yowls of panic and the crackling of the flames, her eyes growing wide as she scanned the camp. "Specklep-" she cried out only to be cut off by a sharp cough as ash and smoke caught in her throat. Then she saw it, the lovely brown pelt that was her daughter. "Specklepaw! Get out...of the camp! Don't worry about me!" she yowled over the chaos, coughing as her lungs screamed for fresh air but yet she waving her tail in a simple signal to leave her behind. "I'll follow...After everybody...Once the camp is cleared!"
