Wake Up Call #500 (Morningfog's open birth topic)

It was a deep shade of purple from the sunrise just barely beginning when Morningfog was up. Restless and extremely uncomfortable, she had ventured out the warm cozy den to drink from a puddle. Now, she lay asleep once more, stirring again only to feel the harsh feeling of labor pain. She gasped at first and hissed as the pain stuck with her. She curled up before taking a few deep breaths and shuffling her paws to find the branch that in a strike of genius, she decided to bring along a few sunrises ago. Her paws hit wood and she pulled it close, and nearly bit her tongue as she yowled for her mate. "Smokeface! I-its time!" She said quickly, biting into the branch as another pain came.

Smokeface heard the call of his mate and made his way towards the nursery with a knot of both excitement and worry in his throat. As he passed by the medicine cat's den, the warrior peeked inside and called for Cloudstone before once again vanishing and going towards the nursery. He arrived and pressed his soft cheek to his mate's, giving her an encouraging nod and sitting down, fiddling with his paws.

Bouncepaw wriggled into the den. He wouldn't miss this one, and, more importantly, he was here before his mentor! Though, it was mandatory. "G-Good, Morningfog... bre-breathe and push. J-J-Just breathe and push." he instructed, anxiously waiting for his mentor. He had been busy at work treating wounds from the battle. He had some chervil and some wet moss he hoped would suffice.

Cinderpaw was having a meal in the bright sunshine when she heard Morningfog's yowl. Bolting straight to her paws she started bouncing and running towards the nursery. They are finally here! She was determined she will help Morningfog through this. After all the queen has done for here it was the least she could do.

Bouncepaw looked over to Cinderpaw as she raced over. He gave her a curt nod, but tried to focus more on the birth. He took deep breaths himself, to steady his nervousness as he aided Morningfog with the kitting.

Morningfog​ felt more at ease with her son and Nate there as well as Cinderpaw. She felt another pain and went through her memories of her previous kittings, pushing when the time came. The first of the litter was born, a cream tabby she-kit. The second was a gray kit, ripples that were darker would grow to become tabby stripes like her mother's brown ones. The third was the same in pelt like her second sister. The last time she pushed, a worryingly small kit with a pelt just like her sisters' was born. Morningfog coaxed them to her with her soft tail.

Sandykit mewled as she was torn away from the warmth and comfort, cold crispy air engulfing her. She scrabbled on the ground, blind, and slowly found her way to her mother's stomach, nudging her siblings as she did so. She felt a fluffy thing push her into a crevice that felt a lot like the warmth of her mother's belly, and drank in a mouthful of creamy milk.

A purr rose in the throat of the once again father, the smoky warriir bending his head down to lick the kit's fur and nudge it close in the warmth of her's mother's belly. He already had a name in mind for that one, but he reserved himself to wait for Morningfog to finish kitting. "You can do this..." she murmured in his mate's ear softly.

Flowerkit nuzzled blindly into her mother's stomach, her nose guiding her to the scent of milk. She mewed as she pushed the others to get a good spot before settling down contentedly.

Wisteriakit seemed to have no interest in milk, but her tiny sister, Wishkit. It was almost as if Wishkit and Wisteriakit were one, but Wisteria is the stronger, patient one, while the Wish is defensive and loyalty means everything.

Wishkit lay still for a while, feeling the soft warmth of Wisteriakit and her mother. She managed to let out a weak mewl of a signal. A signal that means she will grow strong.


OT: THE SHE-CAT SILVER TABBY (and one not a silver tabby) INVASION

Flowerkit crawled over to her siblings, giving each a sniff and a brisk lick on the head as if to proclaim they were under her protection. She then began to busily inspect the 15 inches or so of space she knew, investigating every smell to be sure it was safe for the others before dragging herself back to Morningfog's side.
