Frostpaw watched as his mentor once again clawed at the owl, who fell to the ground, breathing heavily and not moving. Feeling a small amount of pity for the first time, Frostpaw quickly ran over and put it out of its misery with a strong bite on the back of the neck.

Frostpaw sat back and stared down at it, blinking blood out of his left eye. It had been a hard fight, but the bird would be a large and welcome piece of prey for a hungry Clan in leafbare. He looked up at Mudfoot, "What about my assessment?" he asked, not sure what this meant.

Watching as the owl fell limp to the ground, Mudfoot let out an exasperated huff, letting his muscles relax. Two cats versus an owl, his apprentice definitely got an exciting assessment.

"I'd say that you passed!" the tom mewed in reply with a smile. "Especially after you battled this owl, I can't wait to see the looks on all of the kit's faces when they hear of your valiant effort!" he chuckled, knowing the clan would get a hoot out of this. An owl attacking them, what were the chances!

"Now, how about we take this back to camp and have Honeydrop take a look at you," the warrior finished and grabbed the limp owl's feathery scruff. "Ready to go?" he mumbled between a mouthful of feathers and turned to look to Frostpaw who seemed a little beat.

Frostpaw let out a purr of satisfaction. He was going to be a warrior soon at last! "OK Mudfoot, i'll be right behind you." Frostpaw bounded off too collect his other catches and head back to camp. His ear stung, and he was sure the owl had nicked it badly, but Frostpaw didn't mind. It was his first real battle scar!
