Snakepaw's Assessment [Closed]

Smokestripe paced back and forth in front of entrance to the camp, his tail flickering as he waited for Snakepaw. He had mentioned doing more training today but in truth he had decided it was time for Snakepaw's assessment. If he could complete this, then he could be a warrior. He couldn't wait for Snakepaw to be a warrior, he felt proud to be helping the tom gain his warrior name. His ears perked as he came to a stop, glancing at the apprentice den, his paws itching for this to start.

Snakepaw groomed his fur before stepping out. He walked over to Smokestripe and sat. "What are we doing today?" he asked.

Smokestripe's eyes lit up when he saw Snakepaw coming padding over. "We are doing your assessment," he said in a cheery tone, a large grin on his face. He quickly turned, kinking his tail over his back in a signal to follow as he led the apprentice into the territory. "After that patrol we did, I realized that you are ready to become a warrior - all that stands in your way is this assessment."

Snakepaw was excited hearing he had one more thing to do. He followed Smokestripe into the territory.

Coming to a good spot to start, Smokestripe stopped as he turned to face the apprentice he had taken under his paw. "I'm sure you know the basic of the assessments - hunt until you have caught a certain amount of prey. For this assessment, I want you to hunt three of any type of prey - frogs, toad, lizards...Any will do. I will be watching from the shadows to measure your skill - so know I am there even if you don't see me. Once you have gotten your three pieces, we will head back to the camp and I'll tell Thrushstar that you are ready to become a warrior." He took a deep breath after saying all of that, raising his head to the sky to measure the time. They had plenty of time to do this. "Ready? Your assessment starts now."

OOC: Just something for those who read this to note - for this assessment, rolling a 1 on the encounter die is void. ShadowClan has been attacked by enough badgers. Instead, 1 counts for finding a lizard.

OOC: Yea, this is BadgerClan now.

IC: Snakepaw was a bit startled hearing 'from the shadows', that just sounded creepy the way he put it. He shrugged it off and started to smell and turn his ears around. He soon detected some frog. He found it sitting there. He barely made a sound, and it ran. Prey seems to be very keen now.

Smokestripe watched as Snakepaw darted off, turning and heading in the other direction. Once he was sure that he was out of Snakepaw's sight, he started to backtrack, going in a giant circle until he had found the apprentice once more. He was just in time to see the frog dart, frowning. Snakepaw hadn't made a sound, had the frog been spooked by something else? He couldn't say as he founded his gaze on Snakepaw.

Snakepaw started to smell something else. He held his head up and opened his mouth. He found a toad, but it ran when he started to stalk up.

OOC: Man the dice is hating him.

Snakepaw looked up. Why was all the prey running and being startled out of nothing? He scented lizard. He stalked up to it. He leaped for it. Lizards are quick and it sensed him, and took of. It was amazing how fast it could run.

Smokestripe followed on quiet paws, his dark fur doing well to keep him hidden from Snakepaw's sight. His ear twitched as the apprentice once again had a prey dart away followed by another miss. The prey really seemed on edge but he had faith in the apprentice, he was sure Snakepaw would end this assessment with all three catches.

OOC: The dice hate everybody. Just keep going and finally it will give you a catch!

Snakepaw was getting a bit frustrated. He took a deep breathe. He scented a frog. He dropped into a hunters crouch. He found it. He was set on catching it. He sprang forward. His paws landed next to it. Before it could leap away, he clawed in front of it so it couldn't go that way. Nowhere to go, he quickly killed it and held it in his jaws. He dug a hold in the ground, put the frog in it, and covered it in snow. He put a small twig on it so he could find it again.
