When Eagles take flight in the heart of hazey wheater(closed for Rippedsky)

"How are things in Shadowclan now?" He meowed, genuinely curious. His thoughts had wandered to the Windclan cat that Crowstar had allowed him to join the clan. It was bothering him. Hazeflight helped to ease the frustration, but he was still unhappy about it.

Hazeflight shrugged,things in ShadowClan were fine.Not much had happened,really."Well,I was given an apprentice.His names Flamepaw,I found him as a kit out in the marsh and Thrushstar let him stay in ShadowClan.Not much else has happened since Lightning strike and the other cats were exiled."she replied.Hazeflight had deliberately avoided Darkpaw's death and how Eaglepaw was taken by twolegs.She turned her head and looked at Eagleheart fondly."What about SkyClan,how is it?"she asked cocking her head in curiosity.

"Congratulations on the apprentice! I haven't even thought about getting my own yet,
Eagleheart meowed enthusiastically at his new mate's words. Then, his thoughts went dark again," Speaking of apprentices, I'm sure you'll hear about it at the gathering , but Crowstar has taken a Windclan cats as an apprentice. Rippedpaw. He claims to have left Windclan over something. But I don't trust Windclan," A hiss escaped his throat as he finished. His brothers had tried to convince him there was nothing wrong with taking in the black and white tom who was almost as warrior. Eagleheart hated the idea of letting outsiders join the clan though. We only need Skyclan blood.

Hazeflight's ears perked at the mention on Rippedpaw."I don't trust them either.They seem to have a certain disrespect for the code.How can Ashstar even let her clan do this and not punish them?!"she hissed flattening her ears."I can understand why Rippedpaw left!At least he has some sense!"Hazeflight added trying to reassure him.

"That's true, but still. He's not Skyclan born. It's not right for a cat to be outside of their birth clan. Especially not in my clan," He started to get riled up and growled. Crowstar was too lenient about letting outsiders and cats of mixed blood into the clan. It had always bothered him. Eagleheart glanced at Hazeflight and retracted his long claws. She was Shadowclan. He softened. She wasn't bad, but she also wasn't Skyclan. For a moment, his head swam with confusion, but he rationalized it with she's the exception. There would be no other excuses, no other reasons for him to mix with cats from other clans. Hazeflight would be the only one.

Hazeflight sighed rather exaspertedly. "Well,there are barely no outsiders in ShadowClan,well other than Flamepaw.Then again Thrushstar and Leopardfang are slightly crazy."she meowed shaking her head.At least all the cats in ShadowClan we can actually trust.

"Where did Flamepaw come from?" His eyes narrowed at her words. She's training a cat that didn't come from Shadowclan bloodline. That's ridiculous! If it were up to Eagleheart, there would be less of crossing bloodline and no one would take in cats from other clans. It just seemed strange to him.

Hazeflight glared at him."Is it really any of your business?"she hissed.Hazeflight could feel her over protective side taking over.He won't hurt Flamepaw,will he?He's my mate he would never do that,would he?Hazeflight shook her head."Well,actually I don't really know he was just a rogue kit that I found and Thrushstar let him into the clan.Now I think you should stop being so hostile about mixed blood,because you are insulting me."she meowed rather calmer though her voice was full of ice.Hazeflight turned her head away from him,staring at the ground with her ice blue eyes.

"I'm sorry," He mumbled as all the hostility melted away. Eagleheart hadn't meant to upset her, but moons of believing these things had changed the way he thought. Moonlight may have lead him away from the initial desire to kill all non-Skyclan cats, but the way of thinking hadn't changed way to much. He shifted closer to her, wrapping his body around hers to keep her warm and licked her pelt gently.
"You're different..." Eagleheart meowed softly, dropping all thoughts of the subject.

Hazeflight purred,turning back to face her mate.Her eyes were still sad but at least he had realised the error of his ways."Good.Now can we just talk about something less hostile?"she meowed cooly.Hazeflight smiled sadly then Nuzzled him affectionately.

Suddenly, he lept up. The awkward end of their conversation made him uncomfortable. Eagleheart wasn't good with awkward.
"Race you up that tree!" He flicked his tail towards a tall pine tree and without waiting for an answer began hauling himself swiftly upwards like only a Skyclan cat could. It brought back memories of the first time they had spent together climbing. That made him smile as his competitive edge drove him up the branches.

Hazeflight snorted.Lazily,she got to her paws,yawning as she did before stretching out and flexing her claws."Okay,fine,whatever it wasn't like I was enjoying being warm or anything..."she yawned flicking her ears.With a tired smile she placed a paw on the tree and began to launch herself upwards.

"We can be warm up here! The needles will shelter us from the cold!" He meowed back happily, for once, to her complaints. Once he reached a high enough branch, he stopped and smiled down a her, cocking his head, "You coming or what?" Playfully, he knocked a bit of snow from the branch he was on so the snow would fall down onto Hazeflight. What's wrong with me? Eagleheart thought as he acted like some playful kit. Never had he been anything less than serious about fighting and being a warrior. Never had he been like this.

Hazeflight purred,picking up the pace at the mention of warmth.She was surprised when a clump of snow hit her but none the less she continued upwards.Hazeflight eventually reached the branch where Eagleheart and as he had said it wasn't that cold.She curled her tail around her paws and buried her head in Eagleheart's shoulder.

"I have to go soon," The reality of how much time had passed hit him and he sighed, sinking into her. The clan would be missing their warrior soon. And he wanted to get back eventually to make sure the Windclanner wasn't starting any trouble.
