In The Moorlands (open patrol)

Falconstone decided that later, once he was ready, he would talk to Cedarfur. As the patrol crossed the moorlands, the tall tom glanced down to Sandypaw here and there. She was his apprentice and she must be protected at all costs.

Smokepelt started to walk towards the Thunderpath with Rabbitpaw at his side and the other two following closely behind. He watched as his daughter walked away, praying to StarClan that she was getting the proper training from Falconstone. Smokepelt had his doubts about Kestrelstorm's son, but he knew that he'd need to have faith in the tom. After a little while of walking he hoped to break the silence, so the Deputy decided to start some simple conversation. "So, how has everyone's training been going?"

The tall tom gave a nod to Smokepelt and started padding along side Heatherpaw, heading towards the gorge. For a while, he stayed quiet, though the patrol seemed very boring compared to how he thought it'd be. Glancing to Falconstone he gave a sigh. He wasn't very keen on talking to his grandson, but in the end, there wasn't really any other option unless he wanted to look extremely rude. "So Falconstone, how has training with Sandypaw been going?" he meowed, not making eye contact.

Emberpaw looked over at Smokepelt as he spoke, after he had finished she was the first to reply "Mines going well, I'm almost a warrior!" she mewed with a bright smile, she always felt like a smile was necessary, even if some cats though it wasn't.

"I suppose mine's going well, too." Heatherpaw mewed, glancing at Cedarfur. "I can't wait to go to a Gathering, though!"

Rabbitpaw nodded quietly at Heatherpaw's excitement. "Yes, me too." she mewed, her mind straying to an image of cats gathered at Fourtrees, their scent mingled wonderously. The she-cat wrinkled her mose as they neared the Thunderpath, treading carefully, as if afraid a monster will emerge and churn through the moorland.

ic: Sandypaw looked up at Cedarfur, a cheerful smile on her muzzle, "Mine is too!" She mewed happily, glancing at Heatherpaw and Rabbitpaw, before her cheerful gaze landed on her mentor. She loved being an apprentice and being able to go on patrols and help out the elders when it was needed. It made her happy to see others happy. She guessed that's why she loved helping her clanmates out in any way she could. Her gaze was distracted by the territory around her and she took it all in like a breath of fresh air. Her tail tip twitched eagerly as the padded through their territory.

Nightheart smiled calmly as she listened to the apprentice’s answers to Smokepelt’s question. She waited until there was a long enough time of silence to speak, not wanting to interrupt anyone “The training with my own apprentice is going well, she’s having a bit of trouble at getting used to the life of an apprentice right now, but I can tell she’ll get over it” Sunpaw was proving to be a nice challenge for the young warrior, but she didn’t mind it at all, and she was determined to be a good mentor that guided her apprentices through the right path.

Falconstone padded quietly until Cedarfur talked to him. His heart pounded. Was he asking because he feared he was a traitor like his father? Like he was incapable? He was almost old enough to be considered a regular warrior. Not an new warrior. Most warriors got their apprentices earlier than him. He had literally traveled to find StarClan. Would they still doubt his loyalty? "Sandypaw is doing extraordinarily well." he said quietly, murmuring almost.

Smokepelt couldn't help but smile at everyone's enthusiasm. "That's good to hear," the tom chuckled. The patrol soon reached the Thunderpath and peering down it, everything was quiet. "Everything looks good hear, how about we head back to meet up with the others?"

Simply giving a nod, Cedarfur stayed quiet. He was glad that Falconstone was taking good care of his Nephew's adopted daughter, and was starting to wonder if he was being too hard on the younger tom. He may have been Kestrelstorm's son, but that didn't mean that he'd make the same mistakes, right? Lost in thought, Cedarfur tripped over a dead branch and landed on his rump with a thud. Ouch. Wincing, he stood up once more and gave his pelt a shake. Looking to Heatherpaw, a smile was held on his muzzle and he could help but laugh.

Soon enough, the patrol finally made it to the gorge and looking around, everything seemed in place. Extending his neck and looking partially over the gorge, just the thought of falling into the roaring waters made him cringe. He couldn't imagine losing a loved one to such a horrible fate. "Let's head back to the meeting spot and see how Smokepelt's patrol did," he meowed, turning to look back at the patrol and trying to forget about those dreadful thoughts.
