Alderkit's Medicine Cat Apprentice Ceremony

Dawnflower stretched out for a moment in her empty den. Ever since Silverfern became a warrior the den felt a little lonely. It was filled for the short time that Nightpaw was still a kit. The dark colored kit would come and fill Dawnflower's free time, and a few times she brought another kit. Alderkit. The young kit seemed a bit interested in the herb stuff, but the Medicine cat wasn't exactly looking for an apprentice at the moment, and didn't think much of it. It wasn't til Starclan had sent her a sign (Pretending this happened before the fall.) that she realized this kit was supposed to be her apprentice.

After talking to Thrushstar, and Alderkit today was the day to take the kit to moonstone, and make him a Medicine Cat Apprentice. Walking out of her empty den she walked over to the nursery where the kit was staying. Quietly she poked her head inside, and spotted the familiar kit. "Alderkit? Alderkit wake up, it's time to go." The Medicine Cat said.

"Hm? Huh?" Alderkit awoke abruptly from his dream about thorned flowers and forests, the little tom looking around a little lost until he realised it was Dawnflower. He wriggled away from the queen who was rearing him, licking her muzzle once with love before springing over to the medicine cat. "Is it time? Am I really going to be a medicine cat as well?" He asked, wide eyed with wonder that it was finally real. It seemed so amazing. He'd be special, not just some rogue kit that Thrushstar mercifully took in. He wanted to be recognised by the clan, respected and he thanked StarClan that he had the chance to prove this.

Dawnflower nodded her head. "Yes, it is time, and you are truly going to be a medicine cat." She said with a sweet tone. She took a step back, pulling her head out of the nursery, allowing the kit to escape. The medicine cat didn't care about the kit's back ground. All she cared about was the fact that Starclan told her of this kit, and that this kit was supposed to be her apprentice. She was kind of fearful though, she didn't know how the ceremony would go since Starclan wasn't in their skies anymore. She would probably have to warn the kit before they tried to dream. She didn't want him falling into the paws of the dark forest.

The kit eagerly leapt past the Medicine cat once she moved out of the way, his green eyes aglow with eager excitement at the prospect of undertaking the task of becoming a medicine cat apprentice. "Let's go then!" He meowed loudly, before wincing when he heard the faint unhappy grumbles of other kits who he'd just awoken. Ducking his head in a slight wince, he cringed for a second before perking back up with the knowledge that when he came back, he wouldn't be sleeping with them anymore. He'd be with Dawnflower, doing medicine cat things.

"Alright, alright. Just remember we have a long journey in front of us, so don't go wasting all of your energy at the start." She said to the dark colored kit. She was excited for this as well she would have someone back in her den, and she wouldn't be alone anymore. "Let's get going. Stay close to me." She said to Alderkit before heading out of the camp.

"Okay!" The kit exclaimed, following behind the older she-cat to head out of camp for the first time. The sights and sounds around him were foreign to him, he hadn't been outside camp since he was found near the Thunderpath. There were a few things that caught his attention, a green frog leaping near the edges of the marsh, the light scent of marigolds, but he didn't dare stray, sticking by Dawnflower.

It took a while for the two to finally reach mother mouth. She knew the little one would need a break so she stopped at the entrance and sat down. "We have enough time for a short break and then we need to head inside." She said to him. "I must warn you though, Alderkit. Once we get inside and start to dream, if a cat approaches you and you are in a shady forest, don't listen to what they have to say. That isn't Starclan. We only listen to starclan, got it? Though if you do get approached, do whatever you need to, to stay safe. Alright?" She said to the small kit. She prayed to Starclan that they wouldn't run into any dark forest members in their dreams, but Starclan was off in other skies at the moment.

Alderkit was tired, but he tried his best to hide it, masking his exhausted heaves as odd puffy gasps. He was determined to see this through. "Shad-" He nearly interrupted Dawnflower, but held himself back to listen to what she said with wide eyes. He'd always thought that StarClan were the only cats out there in the skies, to think there were other cats out there in the sky. He half-hoped that he would meet one, but Dawnflower's stern warning did spook him a bit, he was torn between his curiosity and his fear of messing up. "Okay, I'll be careful and stay away from Shady Forest cats!" He piped up.

"Good. Come on, let's head inside before it's too late. Follow my scent, and try to stay close. It gets dark down there." She said before pushing her way into the tunnel, pausing only for a moment to make sure Alderkit was following.
