Indigo Nights bring Life (Birth Topic)

Sandfeather had retired to the nursery for a while. She had been showing signs of her pregnancy but now she believed it was time. Sandfeather laid calmly in the nursery, tired but still awake.

OOC: lol Okay okay

IC: Sandfeather stiffened. It was time. She let out a pained yowl that dragged itself out of the nursery. She winced in pain and she pressed her muzzle against the earthen floor to muffle her yowls.

"I'm a father!" "Sandfeather!" He yowled proudly. This is it. They're my kittens, right? Right! You can do this, Deerflight, and help raise your own kits. Yes, Mommy may have died giving birth to me, but Sandfeather is not going to die today. He told himself, suddenly feeling quite nervous, but with enough bravery to haul himself into the nursery. "Please, Sandfeather... Calm down. I know it hurts, but in the end we will all be happy. I promise.

"I think you just have to push... And then it will -and should - be over."

Sandfeather glared at him but a small bit of playfulness gleamed in her eyes.
"Where's the stick?" she hissed through gritted teeth.

"Stick? Um... Be right back!" He honestly didn't have the slightest clue of queens giving birth, so he just found a sturdy twig and darted back to Sandfeather. He nuzzled her, licked her, even lay down with her, all in ways to soothe the immense pain his mate seemed to be going through. "Anything else you need, Sandfeather? Or are you good? I could get Rabbitwhisker and my sister, Acornpaw if you need," He suggested rapidly, forcing himself not to buzz or shake with extreme worry.

Sandfeather shook her head and she shook.

Sandfeather lay weakly on the nest, a small bundle of fur now at her belly. Her eyes were half closed but a content purr drifted form her throat.

Newly birthed the brown and black tabby tom wriggled and stretched, pleased to sprawl out for once. He yawned, showing a pink mouth full of tiny teeth. A small purr rumbled as well as squeaks and mews, dragging himself around in vain to find the source of the milky scent.

Sandfeather purred and nudged her kit towards her belly. She looked warmly over at Deerflight.

He hadn't the slightest clue of how to react.

First he'd always dreamed of kittens, and he adored them. He loved most of his kithood, but then again was normal for most cats. Second, he was a little busy with his apprentice duties, therefore keeping him from bonding fully with Sandfeather... Sandpaw at the time. Third came the fight. Mapledrop and Sandfeather didn't stop fighting, but luckily now they were best friends. He was very happy most of his life, especially since Sandfeather and Mapledrop were a big part of it. And now he'd been granted his wish, like a Genie grants people three wishes.

But he hadn't the slightest clue of how to react.

After a minute he finally popped back into the reality, but he needed a freezing Leafbare breeze to help him do that. He blinked slowly. The information was just too much for him to take in all at once. "S-Sandfeather, h-he's beau-utiful. J-just l-l-like yo-ou ar-re." He stammered, much too lost for words. "And he looks so much like me... How about we call him Oakkit?"

Sandfeather looked down and smiled.
"Oakkit," she said, pronouncing each syllable happily.

Oakkit, who was eating happily, stopped to turn to the voices. Waddling blindly he squirmed to his father, mewling loudly to share his opinion of his name.
