Flamestripe stalked through the undergrowth. He hunted first a mouse, and then caught a thrush and a vole. Pleased with his catch, he carried it back to Sunpelt. He dropped his prey on the pile.

"Wow, congratulations, Fawnpaw!" Sunpelt purred. "That should feed a kit or two. And it's actually a perfect size for them, because kits can't eat large things. And yes, I'll help you bring back you catch, though I think we'll have to make two trips or more to retrieve all the prey everyone's caught." Looking around, he mewed louder, "Great job, everyone. This has been a very successful hunt. Now everyone try to carry back their prey, but if you can't carry all of it I'll come back with you to help once you've delivered you're first few pieces to the fresh-kill pile." Flicking his tail to place his order, Sunpelt dug out his prey and carried almost all of it back to camp, leaving behind his squirrel and crossbill.

Sunpelt got back to camp and dropped his crossbill and squirrel on the pile. He sat down beside Cloverpaw and started grooming her fur with gentle licks. When Cloverpaw's pelt was glistening, he lay down and closed his eyes, letting the warmth of Sunningrocks ease his sore muscles. He was almost tempted to go to the medicine cat's den and ask for poppy seeds, but he knew he didn't really need them.

Sunpelt purred. "You're welcome, Fawnpaw. It was a pleasure. And yes, thank you. That's very kind. I promise I'll bring you a huge, plump rabbit for a present when you become a warrior!" he joked. "But after you feed the elders, you should get something for yourself, two. You look pretty tired, too," he pointed out, noticing how the apprentice was heavy on her paws.
