Dapplepaw's Training

"Well you're going to learn all of it now. If you have any questions, ask." EagleWing sat down and got comfortable. "Well, since this may take a while, you might as well get comfortable."

"Okay," Dapplepaw said. He sat down and curled his tail around his paws.

EagleWing straightened his posture and opened his mouth to speak. "1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan because one day you may meet them in battle. 2. Do not hunt or trespass in another Clan's territory. 3. Elders, Queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless apprentices have permission, they may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If anywarrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they are allowed eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating. 4. Give thanks to StarClan for its life. Prey is killed only to be eaten. 5. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice. 6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after getting their warrior name. 7. A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice. 8. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies or retires. 9. After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh. 10. Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting between clans at this time. 11. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats. 12. No warrior can neglect a kit in even if the kit is from a different Clan. 13. The word of the clan leader is the warrior code. 14. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self defense. And last, 15. A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet." The white warrior took a breath and looked at his apprentice. "Do you understand? Any questions?"

"No, No questions." Dapplepaw said, smiling. 'Thats gonna be hard to memorize. But, I guess, I'll try!" He said happily.

EagleWing nodded his head and stood up. "Very well, let's play a game." He flicked his tail and waited for his apprentice to respond in anyway.

"Okay!" Mewed a happy Dapplepaw. he waited for his mentor to tell him what the game was.

"This game is called Intruder. This game is for two cats or more. One cat, which is me, will be the intruder, and your job is to defend your territory using the skills you've learned. I will go somewhere and walk around any area in your territory and you will wait for a few moments before you hunt me down. Do you understand? Any questions?" EagleWing looked down at his apprentice.

Dapplepaw thought for a moment. "No, i think I got it. Lets do this!" He said happily.

EagleWing dipped his head before running to an area away from where he trained Dapplepaw moments ago. When he felt comfortable, he slowed down to a trot and began padding around some bushes.

Dapplepaw waited a bit before he opened his mouth to look for EagleWings scent. with a careful glance around, he spotted him near some bushes. Dapplepaw silently crawled onto a tree near Eaglewing, just low enough he could get a good bounce. with a silent jump, he attempted to leap on EagleWings back.

EagleWing saw a shadow that looked like his apprentice and he knew that something was going to happen. When he felt air, he rolled over to the side to dodge Dapplepaw's leap. He quickly got up and stood tall. "I saw your shadow, you failed. If you had to sneak up on a real intruder, that shadow would give you away and spoil the element of surprise. Let's try again. Try a different approach the next time."

Dapplepaw nodded. He quickly ran to a bush, giving his mentor time to run off so he could sneak up on him.

EagleWing ran off and when he got comfortable, he slowed down. He walked to the ThunderClan border to hide his scent to make it harder for his apprentice to smell him. He didn't go into the other clan's territory though. The white warrior walked along the border and waited for something to happen.

Dapplepaw looked around, and listened for rustling in the bushes. He spotted some white fur moving by the border. Walking carefully, he stood downwind to hide his scent. Seeing EagleWing he steadied himself, and, from behind, pounced.

EagleWing instinctively rolled over to dislodge Dapplepaw. He quickly got up and stood on all four paws. After seconds of standing, he quickly swiped his powerful right paw at his apprentice. "If a clan cat or any cat intrudes in your territory, are you just going to pounce on them expecting them to run?"
