It had not been him who led them through the marshland's in search of their target - a red fox beginning to carve a den out of the frozen earth - but Sablestrike, his gaze an unwavering evil eye at any wrong move Virtue seemed to accidentally take. Be it a subtle stumble or walking too in-step with either him or Sunflare, Virtue could feel he was not in good company. "I will let the two of you decide who goes first and I will assist as needed." There was no way he would even try to lead any of this. Leopardstar was understanding. These two... Did not seem to be.

Sunflare’s ears flattened in indignation. He was taking instructions from a rogue of all cats! Still, the thrill of the blood already pounding in his ears kept him here, ready for the fight. Taking down a fox alongside Sablestrike would be such a rush! Without hesitation, the cinnamon blur shot out of the brush and attached to the fox’s hind leg.

Sablestrike kept his eyes glued to Virtue, not speaking a peep nor hearing anything outside of their paw steps until the rogue began to order them about. So much about him and his kin was a mystery to the deputy. They didn't seem to have any ulterior motives, actually the Riders of the Storm seemed earnest in their want to help Shadowclan and earn their board, but he still couldn't trust them not to make a move the moment his head turned. It was easy to know how to act when you were being watched. Sablestrike nodded, giving Virtue threatening look as he turned his attention fully to the fox. He doubted the rogue would make a move on him with Sunflare in their company, but the look he gave promised danger.

Sablestrike was hot on the tom's heels, biting deeply into the fox's neck as Sunflare's attack drew its attention.

Virtue sighed in relief that the horrible glares were now cast towards the fox and not the back of his head. He wished he could deny these cats, but he had promised to help out ShadowClan... Which meant every cat within it. Just a little longer and he and company would be out of here forever. He wished that could relive some of the hostility Sunflare and Sablestrike openly shared with the silver tabby. He shrugged his shoulders and sighed. There would always be certain.. personalities within a group that were just like the warrior and deputy. Couldn't win them all.

The second surprise attack was what did the fox in, stumbling to the ground as its heels were nipped at a second time. It took a lot of scrambling, but the fox was no longer confident in this fight.
