Scorchtalon sat near a patch of wildflowers, enjoying the feeling of the wind brushing through his fur while he waited for Whisperpaw to arrive. After the drama that had happened at the last gathering, Scorchtalon had approached the apprentice and proposed that they sharpen their fighting skills together. He wasn't anticipating a fight, but he wanted to be prepared if one occurred, especially since Windclan was low on warriors compared to the other clans. There was a confessed murderer roaming the forest, and conflicts had arisen between Skyclan and Riverclan, but he wouldn't be surprised if either of them tried to drag Windclan into the whole mess. Regardless, it had been a good while since the battle with the Dark Forest, and Scorchtalon hadn't had a good sparring session since then. He didn't want his skills to deteriorate, rendering him useless when his clan needed him the most.

Whisperpaw awoke a little late from a nap, and once they realized that, they scurried quickly out to go and meet Scorchtalon by the wildflowers. They were a tad out of breath when they finally arrived and they bowed their head apologetically. “I’m so sorry for the wait! I hope you weren’t waiting too long…”
They sat down before Scorchtalon and smiled. “I’m also sorry if our training session doesn’t last very long. I’m afraid I don’t have much stamina.”

"That's okay!" Scorchtalon replied, giving the younger cat an understanding smile.
"Let's get started then, shall we?" With a flick of his tail, Scorchtalon leapt at his clanmate with his paws extended, making sure to keep his claws sheathed. He wanted to go easy on Whisperpaw as they were obviously tired, and they'd said that they didn't have much stamina, but if Windclan did get caught up in the drama between Riverclan and Skyclan, an enemy warrior would not extend the same courtesy.
Scorchtalon used Jumping Strike dealing 11 dmg and -7 stm

Whisperpaw was already winded the moment Scorchtalon landed a blow on them. Not only were they easily exhausted, but Scortalon was older and far more experienced. Even with no claws, their hit landed on them like a falling log and they went rolling to the side. They panted and rose back to their feet before turning on Scorchtalon and bolting towards them. They feinted to one side only to skirt around the other and grabbed onto Scorchtalon’s tail to stun them. Whisperpaw didn’t have the stamina to spar straightforward—or else this battle would be over swiftly.
Whisperpaw used Tail Yank, stunning Scorchtalon for 1 turn. Dealt 7 damage and cost 15 SP.

Scorchtalon winced as the apprentice went down from his blow, beginning to rethink his policy not to take it too easy on the young cat. He was impressed to see Whisperpaw immediately get back up and run towards him. He raised his paw to swipe them as they approached, only to be taken by surprise as they darted around his other side. Before he could react he felt a sharp tug at his tail, hissing as he jerked forward to free it. He stood still for a second, panting as he tried to comprehend how such a simple move had confused him. At least it was only practice, if he had been fighting an enemy warrior he would've had half his pelt ripped off by now.

Whisperpaw was relieved for a brief moment, as Scorchtalon was too startled to swipe back at them. They threw themselves at Scorchtalon again, batting their clawless paws at him a few times with the usual desperation of a fatigued cat. Whisperpaw’s body thrummed with adrenaline, but they felt like they were going to fall over any second.
Whisperpaw used Desperate Blows and Front Paw Strike, dealing 10 (6 + 4) damage and costing 14 (7 + 7) SP.
