Cindersky
I loved you...
Cindersky was growing to like these ceremonies. Aside from all the reporting in the leaders den, the discussions, where she sat at the Gathering-- this was the main thing that helped her truly feel like a deputy. Shaping these little lives, assigning them their tutor to teach them how to live, survive, various other skills. She adored it. And now, the kits that had become staple to hear playing amongst the nursery and camp; they were growing up.
Leaping up onto the branch, she turned and paused a moment to regard the higher view of camp. She loved that, too. "May all cats old enough to catch their own fish gather for a Clan meeting!"
It was with a look between disgust and reluctance that Milkkit dragged himself out of the nursery to sit down with the rest of the Clan. The queens had insisted, despite his feeble attempts at protest, that he must be a part of this ceremony. It wasn't hard to guess what it was for-- he had grown, grown to resemble almost like a newly-named apprentice. It irked him to think he was growing up, especially not in this way. His limbs were longer, his shoulders broader, his fur sleeker than soft, despite his many attempts to groom them the way he liked them. It used to work, but now his kitten fluff was all but gone, replaced by this ugly, far-too-dull coat. It was not shiny like the rest of RiverClan's, it was dull like the earth below his paws and the bark on the trees. He hated it.
The white-cream tom settled himself near the edge of the crowd, as close to the nursery as he could remain as if in hopes that once this ceremony was over, he could dive right back into the comforts of his nest. Even though there was a nagging feeling within him that he might not have a chance to do even that after this ceremony. He attempted to still the restless fidgeting of his paws and fixed his yellow gaze somewhat irritably on the deputy.

Cindersky
I loved you...
Cindersky's eyes passed over the crowd until they eventually came to rest on the young tom in question, and moving further, the mentor she had picked out for him. His past apprentices had... Mm, no. This one would be different. These two would be like fish and stream, if they made the effort, she believed.
"Milkkit," She began, returning her eyes to whom she was apprenticing. "You have reached the age of six moons, and the time has come for you to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Milkpaw."
"Your mentor shall be Larkspring," She continued. "One of RiverClans most talented warriors. His skills are honed, and versatile, and I have no doubt that he will teach you everything you need to know, and more."

LARKSPRING
I know I'm more fool than wise...
While Larkspring did not care about any ceremonies anymore, he made sure to not miss any apprentice ceremonies since Cindersky took over being deputy. He often just sat off to the side, watching her and paying no mind to whatever kit was being promoted. He enjoyed listening to her voice and watching her big blue eyes oversee the clan; to see the way she held herself and how her confidence has slowly grown over the past moons. It was such a lovely sight; she was such a lovely sight.
Then she looked to him and he realized she mentioned him. He blinked and glanced at the kit—apprentice—in front of her. Ah. Did he have a new one? He thought about his string of missing-or-dead apprentices and wondered if this one would be left to the same fate as the rest. Part of him wondered if it was him, and if Cindersky perhaps just gave this child a sentence. It took him a moment to remember the name…Milk, he was pretty sure. He thought this was one of Dovetail and Murkyriver’s kits.
He approached and lowered to press his nose to Milkpaw’s, having grown quite familiar with the gesture. When he pulled back, he said, “We begin training in the morning. Be ready for it—apprenticeship is quite different from kithood.”
