Leopardstar had been busy in the aftermath of the Gathering, which seemed to have just been one more step in a string of bad luck for ShadowClan. Dying wasn't as much of a hindrance to a leader as it would be to a normal cat, but she'd still been forced to take things easy for the days immediately following the attack. It had been particularly terrible timing, forcing her to delegate most of the leadership duties to senior warriors, but at last she felt like herself again.
As if to show that fact, she leapt to the top of the Jaggedrock.
"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting! We have much to discuss as Clan and community."
(OOC note: This was meant to go up yesterday, but I was totally wiped once I got home; sorry for it being a day late! This topic takes place about a week after the September Gathering in-character.)

The appearance of the wolves had shaken Badgermask more than she cared to admit - always patrolling the border every chance she got just in case another one dared to show its muzzle. It had brought up so many memories and feelings - the helplessness of that night all those moons ago when they had been forced to fled. Her mother had lost two lives to the beasts now, her father had lost his lone life because he had dared to think himself as a burden.
She wanted to gnash her teeth, curse him for forcing that choice to leave him on them. She would have carried him to safety but no, he had to throw himself into the jaws of wolves in a vain attempt to slow them - the Clan had escaped, yes, but not because he had wasted his life to slow one or two. Her anger towards her father was only countered by how desperately she missed him - regrets that she had stepped away after the death of her littermates and now... Now she wasn't sure what family she had left, even with her younger siblings. She hadn't been part of their life, but she knew...She knew she wanted to protect them because she couldn't handle losing anybody else.
She was eating a meal - preparing for another patrol of the border to make good on that desire when Leopardstar called out, causing her to glance up. Ah yes, it was time for a meeting wasn't it? She licked her muzzle clean of her meal, sitting upright to properly listen to whatever her mother had to say.
Cedarkit sat up at Leopardstar's call. It rang throughout the clearing, calling all of the clan to gather together as one. Though he hadn't seen many so far, the ruddy tom had come to love these gatherings. He loved to see everyone unite as a family and discuss or talk or just listen to one another. So now, he smiled at his mother and led her to sit outside the nursery. "I'm gonna stand on this rock here so I can see everyone better. You can sit next to me here, Mama!" he grinned, hopping onto a larger mossy stone that had settled near a tree. What are the warriors going to talk about today?

Briarpatch padded toward the jaggedrock at her mother's call for a clan meeting. Since the gathering she'd been tense and on-edge. Her family, her friends... None of them had walked away from that gathering without some sort of injury, herself included.
The patchy warrior sat, fighting to keep her ears from flattening as she gazed up at Leopardstar.
It had taken longer than Lilyvalley had expected for a meeting to be called. After the events of the gathering...
She wanted to help where she could. Seeing Leopardstar get killed, it had scared her. She was still trying to wrap her head around that. Leopardstar had looked dead, she had thought she was dead.
Apparently that wasn't the case. Lilyvalley could at least be thankful for that.
Cedarkit had rushed out to join the meeting, of course. He loved these things. And normally she would let him watch. But today...
He knew of loss. That didn't mean she wanted him to know of any more horrors in the world. She could preserve some innocence, at least.
"Why don't you stay in the nursery? Just this time. This isn't a discussion you are going to want to hear."
Bubblebeam was still getting used to the strange summons of ShadowClan. Instead of catching prey as a benchmark, Leopardstar called for those who were "old enough to silently stalk in the shadows." It seemed a little bit long-winded for her taste, and a mixture of confusion and uncertainty always dogged her pawsteps when she attended the meeting. Though she was of warrior age, certainly, and beyond it, she was far from a silent stalker in the way that most ShadowClan cats were. She could sneak up on prey well enough, but had yet to master the stealthy movements of most of her Clanmates. Still, she knew that the summons was meant to include her, and so she found a place beneath the Jaggedrock to listen to what the leader would have to say.
Nearby, Hedgepaw roused herself from where she'd been taking a short nap, and trotted over to attend the meeting. She didn't want to think about the contents of the meeting--if she had to guess, it would be a reminder of all the crazy things that had happened over the past few moons. It would be easier to not attend and ignore everything... but some good things had happened, too. Besides, if there was any new information about Wolfpaw, or anything else that she needed to know, then it would be a good idea to find out at the same time as everyone else. Even if she was feeling a bit upset with Leopardstar still for Silverhawk's demotion, Hedgepaw decided she might as well listen and see what would be said. Not seeing anyone else she knew that well in the immediate vicinity, the small apprentice plopped herself down next to Bubblebeam, placing a paw on the latter's fluffy tail to announce her presence. "Hey! Mind if I sit here?"
Bubblebeam blinked in surprise, then relaxed at seeing the little apprentice's friendly grin. Thank the stars for kind cats like Hedgepaw who had welcomed her to this Clan so quickly. "Sure," she said with an answering smile.
Rookfire took his place in the meeting, waiting for Leopardstar to speak. Judging by the time of this meeting compared to the Gathering, it was probably the quarter-moon meeting. Leopardstar seemed to do a good job informing ShadowClan and getting their thoughts on the matters most relevant - Rookfire never had any problems with his voice not being heard - so he was interested to see what tonight's meeting was going to be about.

As a member of the council, Sunflare was obligated to attend the quarter-moon meeting. He took his usual spot near the Jaggedrock and caught the gaze of Lilyvalley and Cedarkit. Sunflare flicked an ear in greeting before returning to his dignified expression.

The darker the weather...
Silverhawk nearly spat at Leopardstar’s appearance on top of the Jaggedrock. He cared little for anything she might have to say. The only thing that interested him was the possible announcement of a deputy, but even then, he knew it was pointless to listen. It wasn’t as if Leopardstar would choose him, anyway. Still, he finished his meal and shuffled over to the growing crowd. He spotted Hedgepaw moving between bodies, and nearly moved to intercept her path, when suddenly she’d found someone to sit by. Silverhawk’s ears flattened at seeing who it was. Shouldn’t he have felt happy, seeing her approach Bubblebeam as naturally as anything? He should’ve. This was just another in the many examples of something being wrong with him deeply, intrinsically. There was no warmth of pride or mirth in his chest at the sight of him. Just a vicious sourness, an urge to dig his claws and teeth into whatever he could get them in. What was wrong with him? Silverhawk shook his head hard. Sulking, he moved to the edges of the crowd to seek out Hawkmist.
Fishpaw was there in an instant when Leopardstar roused a meeting. It was good practice to attend them, he figured, and besides--he’d never miss a chance to learn. Green eyes searched around, looking for somewhere to sit when he spotted Hedgepaw with that other newcomer. Fishpaw bounced over right away. ”Hey, Hedge!” He chirped, tail waving. Then he turned his head up, assessed for a minute, then purred, ”Hiya, Bubblebeam. I’m gonna sit here too, okay?” And without waiting for confirmation (or dreaded denial), Fishpaw took up the space near Hedgepaw’s other side with a big, bright smile turned her way.
Leopardstar was quiet as her Clanmates gathered, carefully observing and falling into old habits. Counting them off in her head by name. There was Badgermask, and Briarpatch, and Cedarkit; and there was Lilyvalley, nudging her son back toward the nursery to spare him the harsh realities of growing older just a little longer.
Bubblebeam, their newest warrior, wasn't far either; neither was Hedgepaw, who settled next to her--too young herself, and yet no longer spared as Cedarkit had been. Rookfire was nearby, and Sunflare settled somewhere not directly in her line of sight but she did catch his approach. Fishpaw settled near Hedgepaw, and Silverhawk at the edges of the growing crowd; she kept counting a few moments longer, names and faces in her mind, all too aware of the ones that were absent.
"There are a number of things to discuss this evening, very few of them pleasant," she began. "Those who attended the Gathering witnessed the bloodshed; all of us witnessed the aftermath. For those who might not have gathered the details, the full moon truce was broken not by inter-Clan conflict, but by wolves; vicious, dangerous beasts that we thought past us once we returned from the lake and the plague. The beasts were felled eventually, but many of us in every Clan were injured, some more severely than others--even now, when I have myself recovered, Fernpaw remains in the medicine den."
She sighed, hoping the sound was soft enough that it wouldn't carry over the crowd.
"I would like to preface this next announcement with an order, though I wish I didn't feel the need to. I should hope it isn't anything that any of you has cause to disagree with, at the very least. Should any of you be threatened or attacked by one of your Clanmates, you are to approach either myself or Nightowl as soon as possible with as much explanation as you can manage."
She sat taller than usual, a severity to her gaze that wasn't usually present in just the company of her Clanmates.
"Infighting will not be encouraged or tolerated, but nor will I stand for any cat in my care being made to feel unsafe in their own home. Wolfpaw has been under constant guard from senior warriors and examination by Nightowl, but the exact details of what transpired have not been formally discussed. In short, it was discovered that he attacked his own Clanmates after repeated threats to multiple Clanmates that were not reported."
She did not mention that Wolfpaw's training had been paused for the time being, deciding that it would only be cruel emphasis and that fact in particular would be obvious enough from everything else.
"I had hoped that my final announcement would only be about ShadowClan's council vacancy, but worse news has followed quite swiftly with Sablestrike's disappearance. For the time being, I ask that patrols keep their eyes peeled for his potential reappearance while I prepare to move forward in the event that he cannot be found."
Whenever she thought that something couldn't get worse, it did. Maybe if she instead thought that it would, the opposite would happen and things would change for the better.
She could dream.
"There is, as previously mentioned, also the matter of ShadowClan's council suddenly having a vacancy. If any senior warriors wish to nominate a specific cat to the council, feel free to do so and explain your reasoning. But before that, there is a bright spot to be found amidst all this bad news; a new member to ShadowClan who has been acclimating rather well, but has yet to be formally introduced to the Clan in its entirety. Let us take a moment to acknowledge Bubblebeam, formerly of SkyClan, who has thus far committed to the difficult choice she has made. May we all show such perseverance in the face of adversity."
She found the warrior's gaze in the crowd and briefly dipped her own head in acknowledgement.
"The conversation is now opened to everyone present; senior warriors may present council nominations, and any cat with news or concerns of their own to share may do so regardless of rank."

Rookfire listened to Leopardstar speak. Infighting... why did Wolfpaw attack a clanmate? And Sablestrike's disappearance was also bad. With Leopardstar opening up discussion for a new council member, Rookfire started to think.
An intrusive thought told him to nominate Bubblebeam, but he didn't think that someone that new would be good as a council member. Of the cats available... Rookfire would have nominated Swiftheart, but he knew Swiftheart didn't want to be a part of the council. He didn't know the other cats well... Nettleweaver, maybe? He was young, but perhaps youth would be valuable on the council.
He also, selfishly, wanted to be on the council himself.
Rookfire wanted to be a part of ShadowClan's inner workings, to be able to say what he wanted in them. Even if he didn't have control over what happened, he wanted to be able to know what was going on and form his own opinions. The last time he had been in the council, he had been too scared of losing his position to actually speak out the way he wanted to... but he wouldn't let the same thing happen again.
"Though I run the risk of sounding self-centered, I would like to serve in the council again," he said, stepping forward. "I'd like to think I am the kind of warrior that can be a valuable council member, one who says what he truly believes without mincing his words, while holding respect for his clanmates." He scanned around the clearing, smiling at ShadowClan. The decision was still his clanmates', after all.

Pineblossom sat on the edge of camp, at the entrance of the medicine den. She saw cats gather out of the the corner of her eye and heard Leopardstar begin to talk, but her focus was on Fernpaw resting in the medicine den, and her mind on Wolfpaw where he rested, guarded, as well.
Leopardstar’s announcements were to be expected. A lot had happened in this past moon. But for Pineblossom, they all ended up sounded so…pointed. References to Wolfpaw; mention of Fernpaw’s injury; the council vacancy because Silverhawk was no longer allowed to serve; Pineblossom felt like her family was slowly falling to pieces. She wasn’t sure where all of these problems started spreading from, but they somehow felt impossible to all keep track of. Just what would be next? She wished that Forestbreeze was still alive. She longed for his presence terribly. Maybe he would know how to quell Wolfpaw’s fears or talk even, common sense into Silverhawk.
Leopardstar called for nominations for the council, but Pineblossom stayed quiet. She couldn’t bring herself to care who would join her on the council today.
