Viperkit's Apprentice Ceremony

As the sun set lower into the sky the time was for the young deputies favorite time of day. She leapt up to the tall rock and began the very familiar call of a clan meeting.

"Let all cats gather around for a clan meeting"

Another morning spent bossing around the younger kits in the nursery. Viperkit stood on a little rock ordering them around, snapping at them when they stepped out of line. Why didn’t they listen? She was the daughter of the leader, she was there future. She was helping them! ”No, no, NO!” she squawked, leaping down from her perch “You’re doing it all wrong!” an exasperated sigh left her mouth and she stormed off. She use to tell herself she had been a kit for so long as her father wanted her to become more acquainted with her clanmates without the burden of duty, but now it just enraged her. All these kits were idiots! Her brother was literally a warrior and they were the same age, it was all getting very very very silly. Rapidfire’s yowl was a very welcome excuse to get away from all these dorks. Perhaps she would permanently get away from them, stars she hoped she would.

Rapidfire tried her best not to laugh a little seeing the feisty kit boss the others around.  
Maybe some day far into the future Viperkit would have her job while she was an elder or something - she shook her head clearing away the daydreams of possibilities.

"Clanmates, we are here to celebrate a kit who is far ready for the apprentice den.
Viperkit, please come forward you are ready. You will now be known as Viperpaw!"

She glanced at the kit thinking of a good match for her.  Perhaps someone who could match the fire type spirit - Bingo -!

"Auburnrain will be your mentor. I know that she will pass down the knowledge for warrior"

She slid down the rock and approached the new apprentice and mentor pair to congratulate them

The day had indeed finally come, a smirk appeared on Viperkit’s face. There was no anxiety as they sauntered through the crowd to base of the Tallrock, all eyes would be on her when she was leader, her own apprentice ceremony nothing. There was a fierce sense of satisfaction that she was finally free of the bumbling kits in the nursery that couldn’t tell their head from their tail. It made her sick to think about when she really thought about how long she’d been kept with them, it was so… She was the age of a warrior now! It was whatever though, Papa had his reasons and cousin Rapidfire probably too. It was in no way her fault, she was still faultless.

Green gaze glistened as she waited to hear Rapidfire’s choice of mentor. It was taking her some time, her tail twitched. Did Papa not want to be her mentor… What about Rapidfire herself. The molly’s eyes narrowed, what was the delay? She watched as Rapidfire’s eyes scoured the crowd and her pelt began to prickle, eventually the deputy’s eyes returned to her form and she began to speak. Viperpaw felt her breath catch in her throat at the reveal of her mentor. Was this a joke? She could feel her lip curling back, Auburnrain was not worthy of her. That she-cat already had an apprentice, and it wasn’t like she could talk to actually teach her.

The clan was watching though. She had to be gracious, despite the insult. This was a test, and all great leaders were tested. Viperpaw would show her resilience and her strength and despite this adversary she would rise above the challenge. With a plastered smile, she dipped her head to Rapidfire then touched her nose to Auburnrain’s. [color=#b3b300]”I know you will train me well, there’s a reason you have been entrusted with two apprentices, despite… I look forward to my journey to warriorhood with you.” she mewed, before turning, tail held high, to celebrate with her clanmates. Quickpaw was the first to greet her, loud and boisterous, and like most of her siblings butchering her name. Viperpaw couldn’t hide her eye roll, but it was mostly endearing. She debated correcting her sister on her name, but eventually decided against it. Her siblings would grow out of these silly names eventually ”I can’t wait to train with you, I can kick your butt again! You don’t need to fuss over my nest, I’m capable of doing it myself, Quickpaw”
