Subject: Sunkit's Apprentice Ceremony Wed 5 Jun 2024 - 18:50
Rainkit was getting used to the late afternoon ceremonies - her mom would always get back from the patrol she had been out on and then like clockwork would go skipping over to the tallrock every single day. And every single day Rainkit watched observently hoping hoping that this time would be hers.
Today as the sun sunk lower into the sky she bounced up to her little paws as she heard the patrol coming back. "MOMMMM its gotta be my turn right!? she squealed running over to her. "Its no fair Cream already had it a while ago!" she protested tapping her paw against the ground impatiently.

Rapidfire purred softly looking at her kit and tilted her head "hmm? oh well ... maybe - you will just have to go to the meeting and see" she answered not revealing anything.
She internally knew that Rainkit's ceremony was on delay so that her daughter could grow a bit more before apprentice but that was something that she wouldnt say aloud.
As she hopped up to the tallrock she meowed out the all familiar call to the clan
"Everyone, please gather around for another ceremony!"

Leopardpaw sat at his usual spot, looking up at his mentor with a half-hopeful look in his eyes. Would he get to see Falconkit be made an apprentice today? He had a feeling he already knew the answer, but still he waited. StarClan was known to make dreams come true.
Run Rabbit, Run
Creampaw burst out laughing when she heard Rainkit. What, did her sister think she had any chance at comparing with her? "Wait your turn, sister. Mother will get to you once you're ready," She laughed, then stalked away to sit down near the front of the crowd. Rainkit really thought too highly of herself. The whole nursery would be empty before Rainkit was made an apprentice. Well, except for Bugkit. She didn't think her brother would ever become an apprentice.

Rainkit glanced at her sister and flicked her curled ears at her taunting. "meanie! When I become apprentice imma catch more rabbits than you!" she vented upset. - it was the best comeback she could come up with on her paws and she was never really one to get into much of a fight anyways.
She sulked upset glancing at Creampaw.
She went to go sit with her grandmother Lavendercloud instead

Rapidfire blinked looking at her two kits, why did they have such turmoil with one another? She feared that she was not around enough with them and somehow that was causing things? Whatever the reason she didnt want it to continue. She and her siblings had always gotten along well - even if with some rivalries she knew she and her siblings always held a love for one another
"You two, enough. One day, before you know it you will both be warriors. You have to learn to take care of your siblings first" she meowed and with that hopped up to the tallrock and that is when she made the annoucment thingy from my first post

Sunkit padded out of the nursery, her ears perked up as she tried to find the source of the commotion. Another ceremony? The nursery had been clearing out bit by bit lately, and while she relished the new peace and quiet, she was waiting for the day it was her ceremony. Her chance to be up there, tall and proud as she stood before all the Clan, ready to begin her new life. She'd prove herself quickly, she always imagined. If she could prove herself and climb the ranks, she knew she could make her parents proud someday as deputy. And then, of course, leader - with Moonkit or Cloudpaw by her side.
She slinked toward the front of the crowd and sat, not bothering to look around for any of her littermates. They'd find her, surely. The tortoiseshell molly gave herself a quick, impromptu cleaning, then curled her tail around her paws, not a hair out of place as she watched the Tallrock intently.
Rapidfire nodded seeing the kit. She glanced around. The warriors were all busy with apprentices and as such she had to assign Sunkit to someone who did not have one yet - someone who had asked her earlier for no further appretnices, he was still grieving his last apprentice cloudy's death. It panged her to do this but on the other paw she hoped that somehow a new apprentice would do this warrior some amount of good.
"Sunkit, you have reached the age of apprentice and are ready for your new name. From now on until you achieve your warrior name you will be called Sunpaw, your mentor will be... she paused a moment... this was her last chance to pick someone else but ... who would else be? Everyone else was loaded with apprentices - no... the warrior needed to pull his weight and this is how it would be.
"Eaglefly, he will show you the ways of the code" she continued with a confident nod.
She finished the ceremony and slid down the rock over towards the newest apprentice to congratulate them.

Eaglefly had attended the meeting but was not thinking much of it. He was sure it was another apprentice from how the nursery had exploded with kittens all at once but he was shocked out of his mind as the deputy called out his name to be mentor. His jaw dropped slightly and he narrowed his eyes up at her in disbelief and pause- He had specifically asked for no apprentices but with how many kits there were it was not possible.
He gave a little glance around waiting a bit before finally going over to Sunpaw his newest apprentice. As he looked at the kit he tried to stay positive he really did but all he felt was worry, worry that he would mess this up somehow and that it would never be what he and Cloudypaw had.
"I'm Eaglefly, I will be your mentor... let's get your new nest set up. We can train tomorrow" he meowed the introduction his mind already racing on how he could train them. What he and Cloudy had was very special and losing her had taken a massive toll on him, this coupled with that his mom was leaving now ... he was doing well to be up and standing out of his nest yet alone taking on an apprentice.

Surprise flashed in the young molly's eyes, but she tried her best not to let it show as she stood slowly and padded to the front. She relished the feeling of her Clanmates eyes on her, their undivided attention as she walked to the front of the group. It was a good feeling, and one she wished she could hold on to forever.
Sunpaw had a nice ring to it. She was sure her warrior name would, too - she'd do her best to earn it as quick as possible. As quick as she could while still earning it, anyway. What would Tigerstar name me? Maybe something fierce, like Sunfang, or Sunshade. Or something cool like Suncatcher.
An unfamiliar tom made his way forward. Had his name been called while she'd been thinking? Oops. As long as she looked graceful and unbothered to the rest of the Clan, she didn't care. She met his gaze, then dipped her head respectfully as he introduced himself. Eaglefly. Sunpaw had hoped for a strong mentor, one who would push her, and he did not exactly look the type. He looked...sad. His shoulders slumped and he carried himself low. But if she remembered right...this was her father's brother, was it not? Well, he had to be worth something then, if he was kin. She wouldn't pass judgment just yet. She was of good blood, after all.
"Nice to meet you." Sunpaw purred, standing on her tiptoes to offer her nose for the customary nose-touch. A twinge of disappointment pulled at her. "Oh, do we have to wait? I can't wait to start training!" For good measure, she did a little bounce, hoping that he might take her out sooner if she seemed excited enough.

Hearing the deputy's call for a clan meeting was starting to become a normal thing by now. It was pretty funny to think about. At this point everyone knew the drill and had slotted the almost daily apprentice ceremony into their routines. She wondered if it would ever end.
Today's kit of the hour was Sunkit. Quickpaw watched the younger cat slink toward the front of the crowd. The young tortie carried herself rather well. She kinda reminded her of Leelo. Would those two get along if they got to know each other? Who's to say...
"Sunpaw! Sunpaw!" Quickpaw chanted once the ceremony closed. The newly named Sunpaw was apprenticed under a nervous-looking tom named Eaglefly. She had heard of him before. He had been the son of someone important in the clan. A leader she believed. She was never the best at remembering things. She just thought it was really cool.
Instead of bolting over to the younger, Quickpaw decided to take her time so she could make a good impression. Hopefully she wouldn't mess up too badly or anything...
Once she reached Sunpaw, the tall apprentice dipped her head in a respectful greeting and made sure to keep her expression light. However, it was proving to be a little too difficult, seeing as her usual grin was breaking through.
"Congrats on becoming an apprentice, Sunpaw. I'm Quickpaw, and I hope we can get to know each other!" Darn, she was full-on grinning now. Well, at least she tried to act mature. She needed to practice her greetings even harder!

Sunpaw was surprised when the first cat to approach her after her ceremony wasn't one of her littermates or kin, but an unfamiliar silver-furred molly who carried herself with pride. The newly-named apprentice's eyes flashed with interest. She looked like one of Tigerstar's kits... and her suspicions were confirmed when the she-cat introduced herself. Quickpaw. She was Tigerstar's daughter. Sunpaw returned her smile, happy to have finally found someone worth talking to. "Hi, Quickpaw! I'm Sunpaw!" If this molly wasn't going to keep up her restrained impression, Sunpaw didn't see much point in keeping her air of superiority intact. Besides, it was okay to make friends."I hope so, too! I don't have a lot of friends that I'm not related to." She joked, hoping it wouldn't make her seem weak. She didn't think so. StarClan, why did socializing take so much strategy?
"Maybe we can go hunting together sometime! Or we could spar - I'd be down for a good spar." Eagerness glinted in her green gaze. She was very interested in learning real battle moves now that she was a 'paw. The other Clans wouldn't stand a chance! She was excited to know Quickpaw, too, though she'd have trouble admitting it. They'd be good friends - good allies. Besides, anyone would have trouble saying no to that face. Her grin was infectious, if a bit ridiculous.
Nectarflower sat patiently in the center of the camp, head tilted back to peer up at Rapidfire upon hearing her call for a meeting. She still missed hearing Sootstorm's voice from atop the tallrock and seeing his smile as he appointed new apprentices to their mentors, but she was slowly getting used to Rapidfire being up there instead. It felt like a betrayal, almost, but she shoved the feeling away. It was her precious Sunkit's turn to become an apprentice! A bright smile broke over her face as Rapidfire gave Sunpaw to Eaglefly to train and she glanced at her daughter's new mentor almost nervously. They'd not spoken in so long...perhaps he'd forgotten?
Once, she'd thought her and Eaglefly might make a good couple. But instead, she grew feelings for Kestrelchirp - his brother. Were things awkward between them? She couldn't really tell. With a flick of her tail, she cheered for Sunpaw and swept up to the young apprentice, absolutely beaming. "Congratulations my dear!" She showered affection on her daughter, licking the top of her head and rubbing their cheeks together. "You're gonna have so much fun!"
