Cloudkit stretched, rolling onto her paws as a yawn escaped her. She had napped far more than enough for the day, and the warmth of the evening sun and activity around camp simply called for her to be outside of the nursery. She wouldn't go far, of course, but it was too nice to be in that stuffy den.
Her calico and white face poked out of the nursery entrance, the young kit hesitating for a moment as she took in the wider world of the camp beyond the nursery's protective walls. Spotting a familiar gray spotted pelt not far off, Cloudkit was quick to make her way towards her sibling.
Moonkit hummed curiously as a familiar she-cat approached and, for perhaps the first time that day, a real smile wormed its way onto her face. Not one of those awkward, polite smiles she so loathed having to pull for the warriors. "cloudkit!" She purred; green eyes half-lidded. "i was just thinking about you, actually. was lookin' at the clouds." She murmured softly before casting her gaze back up to the sky. Most of the clouds were small, wispy little things, but there were plenty of big, fluffy looking ones gathering on the horizon.
A yawn split the little she-cat's face and she turned back to peer at her sister with a pleased hum. Flicking her tail, she gestured to a cloud straight overhead. "that one up there looks like feather." Though, as it drifted across the sky, it was quickly starting to resemble more of a strange little blob. "hm. well, it did. y'see any good ones?" There was one earlier in the day that looked like a cat, but it was long gone now. It was too bad Cloudkit wasn't awake to see it.

A purr escaped Cloudkit at her sister's response, and she dropped to her haunches beside Moonkit.
"It kinda does." She mewed, gazing up at the sky. "The clouds seem to change as the wind does... They don't stay the same for long, do they?" Some of the clouds were wispy things, others more defined, but never for very long it seemed. "That one looks like a mouse... Kinda?"
Moonkit blinked at her sister's words, her head tipped to the side. No, they didn't stay the same very long, did they? For some reason, what Cloudkit said sounded wise and important, but for the life of her, Moonkit couldn't figure out why. Maybe she could ask someone or figure it out herself someday. But, for now, she simply shrugged. "yeah, they really don't." She agreed softly. "i guess that's the difference between you and real clouds. you'll always be the same." She purred and nuzzled Cloudkit's cheek affectionately.
Well, that wasn't neccesarily true. "except the bit where you're gonna get bigger and taller, but that doesn't count." As Cloudkit pointed out a shape she saw, Moonkit lifted her head to the sky once more and snuggled against her sister's side. "oh hey, it does!" What a cute mouse too! Then, she lifted a leg and aimed her paw at a cloud not too far from the mouse. "and look! that one's a seed! y'think the mouse is gonna get it?"

Cloudkit's whiskers twitched as Moonkit spoke of her always being the same. She was right, of course, but growing did count for something, in Cloudkit's mind. They wouldn't stay kits for long, they'd all grow into strong warriors for the clan. "Bet I'll be the tallest of us." Cloudkit grinned at her sister, grandma was small... And she and her siblings were smaller, but they wouldn't stay that way forever. "But I'll still be me, we'll still be siblings." She added, pressing affectionately against Moonkit's side.
"Oh, it does." She agreed with a purr, "The mouse will get it, I'm sure - but let's watch." She mewed, soft gaze lifting toward the sky again. The clouds seemed to move with the wind, racing each other across the sky.
Moonkit narrowed her eyes at her sister's claim but shrugged dismissively. Did it matter much which of them grew up to be the biggest? They'd all become warriors regardless of their size, but something in her gentle teasing tugged at Moonkit's pride. "hmph! you dunno that for sure. i might be the tall one." She sniffed, cheeks puffed out, but quickly warmed again as Cloudkit leaned against her. Besides, it truly wasn't important - everything would be fine as long as they were all together. And they would all always be together.
Purr rumbling in her throat, she nuzzled into her sister's side and cast her gaze back to the sky, her eyes bright and focused. The wind picked up, sending seeds and bits of dust into the air, and the clouds swirled overhead, changing shape and growing small as they moved away. Moonkit's face twisted into a frown as the mouse and the seed vanished into a big, fluffy cloud. "oh." She muttered. "that was ani- anti...cli..." Ugh, whatever. "dissapointing." Briefly, Moonkit wondered if the two clouds would reemerge and, when they didn't, dropped to her belly. "boooo."

"Aww, foxdung." Cloudkit couldn't help grumbling alongside her sister as the clouds dissipated and reformed, their mouse and seed vanishing and condensing into a larger cloud. With a huff, the calico kit flopped onto her side, rolling onto her belly as she stared up at the sky.
"D'ya think they'll come back? Or do they just continue to change shape endlessly?" She asked, referencing the cloud-mouse and cloud-seed. The winds seemed to move them quickly enough... Maybe all they had to do was be patient.
Moonkit pressed against her sister's side as they stared up at the sky, bellies to the ground, and couldn't help the frown from deepening on her face. She considered Cloudkit's question for a moment, face screwed up thoughtfully. Would the seed and the mouse ever come back? It seemed impossible to know for sure, but a small part of her wanted to say yes - that someday in the future, they'd see those familiar clouds once more. "maybe..." She meowed softly.
"i bet they'll come back someday. maybe not here, but somewhere." After all, there was so much of the world outside of their little camp on the moor - as Nectarflower had told them. "d'ya think some other kits will see them? far from here?" It was hard to imagine other kits looking up at the same sky and seeing what she and her sister had seen, but if the world was infinite like their mom said, anything was possible. This moment felt special, but maybe there were kits everywhere having a similar experience. The thought made her head hurt.

Cloudkit purred as her sister pressed against her, pondering over her reply. "Maybe they do... Some of the older cats say we're all under the same sky, sooo..." Her shoulders lifted in a shrug. Their older clanmates were trustworthy, she'd decided, and that meant their words were true. "If we're under the same sky, we see the same things, right?" It seemed like a simple answer to the question, to her.
Moonkit hummed softly. Under the same sky, huh? What did that even mean? And if every cat could look up and see Silverpelt at night, why was it only warriors who knew that StarClan existed? Did kittypets or rogues have ancestors too? When their loved ones died, could they look at the night sky and point out a new star - knowing it was them? All of these questions made her head hurt, so Moonkit focused on something easier - Cloudkit. Her questions weren't completely straightforward, but they didn't hurt nearly so much to think about.
"i guess so." She responded eventually; eyes narrowed in thought. "there's always gonna be trees or flowers or stars in the sky. everyone sees those eventually." At least, she hoped so. A life without even the knowledge that such things existed seemed like it would be so empty. With a small smile, Moonkit turned to look at her sister again and nuzzled against her side. "when i become an apprentice, i'll find a rogue and ask them for you, 'kay?"
