Sageroot looked to the other three cats on her patrol. She considered each one a friend, and all were capable warriors in their own right. “All right,” she mewed. “Since there’s no apprentices with us, we’ll take the Stony Hollow. Just remember to keep your senses alert. I got attacked by a weasel once when I was hunting here.”

you know no one’s perfect
Nightdancer nodded once to her deputy and friend--and, for the moment, her patrol leader. The warning was one she took in stride, keeping it in mind; weasels were unpleasant opponents. Not as bad as snakes--not quite so slippery, not quite so venomous--and they didn't have the size of dogs or badgers, but that didn't mean they were to be underestimated. "Exercise caution. I understand."
She fell into a well-practiced hunter's crouch, giving chase to a nearby squirrel, but it happened to turn and spot her at exactly the wrong moment; vanishing out of sight.
Wiggleworm trotted along behind his other patrol mates, dark eyes shifting uncertainly at the mention of the stony hollow. He'd avoided this specific part of ThunderClan's territory most of his life and especially after getting an apprentice, but it was a sunny day, so all should be fine. He nodded to Sageroot as she spoke and split off as a tasty scent reached him. It wasn't totally unfamiliar, but he'd only ever tried once to catch it - rabbit. His mouth salivated at the smell, and he lowered himself into a hunting crouch. Anxiety flooded him briefly, but the spotted tom tried to push it away. He'd failed as an apprentice, but Cloudychase wasn't here to berate him if he failed again.
The feral tom crept through the underbrush after his prey, tail hovering just over the ground. The fluffy, cotton-tailed creature slowly came into view and Wiggleworm pinned his ears back, dark eyes narrowed. Once nearly within range to touch it, he exploded from the undergrowth, claws extended and teeth glinting in the light. The rabbit hardly had time to comprehend what was happening as his fangs closed around its neck. He panted for a moment; chest warm with pride.
He hoisted the rabbit into the air and padded easily back towards where he'd left the rest of the group, eyes bright. He'd never really been the best hunter, but with this rabbit, all the kits still in the nursery would eat like warriors. Or...maybe Sageroot would like it? Hmm, better yet, he could get a frog for her! Just like that time those several moons ago.
(Wiggleworm has successfully caught a Rabbit!)

After her previous experience, Sageroot opted not to hunt by sound alone. Instead, she focused on a sparrow that was foraging in plain sight, blissfully unaware. It was an easy catch, with the bird basically dead on her impact.

Forest Speak Feral Speak
Silverdusk was happy to be on this patrol. She enjoyed hunting and she enjoyed it even more with three of their favourite clanmates. Last time they had been through this path she’d been on another hunting patrol with Sageroot, the poor deputy had ran into a weasel and together they had taken it down. To the tall molly it was a fun bonding experience, but it appeared Sageroot had not enjoyed it as much. Which made sense… She had received the brunt of the weasel’s attack. It was a good cautionary tale at least. The molly’s tail flicked back and forth as she kept pace with Wiggleworm, enjoying his company. It reminded them of when he had caught the frog for her… Come to think of it she did not even know his favourite prey. It was strange to be spend most of their free time with the spotted warrior, and not know such a simple fact about him. Silverdusk was about to ask, but it seemed Wiggleworm had caught wind of prey and was scurrying into the undergrowth.
Until he returned, the silver warrior figured they should also bring up the prey tally of the patrol. Her large ears swivelled, catching the chittering of a squirrel. Green eyes followed the sound of the noise, and they dropped into a crouch, scampering through the undergrowth towards it. Silverdusk tensed, waiting for the perfect moment, then sprang forward in a burst of speed. The russet furred rodent, dint have time to react before she was upon it. They pinned the squirrel, then disposed of it with a swift and clean nip to the neck. It wasn’t a difficult catch, or a particularly giant squirrel, but it was food all the same. They buried the squirrel, then returned to the patrol.
Wiggleworm had returned too, a rabbit clasped in his jaws. Silverdusk purred appreciatively “That is a fine catch!” they knew how Cloudychase had made him feel, how even as fully fledged warrior he doubted his own ability. It seemed silly to her, the large tom was everything a warrior should be. He was an amazing hunter, he was fair and kind and he was strong too. She wished he knew that too, Cloudychase was so wrong. Absolved in thought about how great he was, they almost forgot their budding question. “I just realised I do not even know your favourite prey, what is it Wiggleworm?”
