Gold is in our blood

Majority of his interactions with his littermates were dictated by himself, but Redkit seemed to have other plans. His ears perked at the call of his name, and with poorly disguised curioisity the black tom-kit tipped his head so as to look at his sister, who was standing outside the nursery and calling his name. Had something happened? Or, perhaps, his sister had found something that she desperately needed to share with him. Regardless, his name had been called, so he swiftly made his way to her side, curious as to what she had needed him for.

"Look!" The lanky kit forced her brother to see what she had been seeing all day. It was a beetle. "We have to catch this thing before any of the other kits do. It's massive, catching it basically tells them that we can already hunt." Redkit usually wasn't one for gloating, but this was a once in a lifetime chance. To 'prove' that she could hunt before her siblings, that was something she could only do now. However, she knew she couldn't catch the beetle alone. She had already tried.

Leopardkit though, he seemed like he could help. He was one of her only siblings that might take it seriously. Even if he didn't, she suspected that he might be bored enough to help anyway. The beetle was fast, and a chance to prove that he was faster might encourage him to stay.

"Come on, maybe even the warriors will be impressed by it. If we catch it, that is. What do you say?" The russet she-cat kept her eyes on the beetle, she couldn't let it get too far, or else she would lose before the real hunt even began.

A Beetle? Disgusting. Redkit should have called Foxkit over instead. Though, knowing his sibling, Foxkit would start arguing about how they shouldn't harm the beetles. At least Redkit wanted to prove herself to their clanmates. She was just going about it the wrong way.

"The only reason the warriors will be impressed is because they're impressed by anything a kit does. Any normal apprentice could squash a beetle with their paw, no matter the size of the insect. And, hunting rabbits are very different from chasing beetles. Catching this thing wouldn't mean we can hunt, just that we can run after something our size. If that's the point you're trying to prove, you're free to run after any of our denmates," Leopardkit scoffed. "Besides," He added, "running around after beetles in unbecoming of a proper cat. You should know that."
