Prolouge

An orange tabby padded out of the trees, heading for a bend in the river. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a calico cat came out and smiled at her. "Are you here to give up your territory yet, Orangestar?" He said. "Never, Spottedstar. But, I am willing to give you her, in exchange for territory up to the waterfall, and peace for 12 moons." she hissed. Squealing came from the bundle of leaves. It was a beautiful kitten. She was orange with black stripes, like a tiger "She is my firstborn, and my most precious thing in the whole world. Her name is Tigerkit" she said, caring in her eyes as she looked at her daughter. "Hmm..." Spottedstar said, pondering the offer. At last, he meowed, "Alright Orangestar, you have a deal. We shall let you have some of your territory back and peace for 12 moons, but when the time of peace is over, be prepared to be distroyed by your own daughter." he said before picking up the bundle, and padding away. Orangestar felt a sharp pain in her heart, but she knew she had done what she must. She padded away slowly, trying to forget what she had done.

Chapter 1

Tigerpaw padded through camp. She had been made an apprentice last sunrise. Her mother, Sunshine, had been so proud of her. Her brother, Lightpaw and her sister, Ashpaw had been made apprentices as well. Her father, Darknessfang, had been the first to congratulate them. He was kind and caring. Tigerpaw's mentor, Lionpelt, had said that they would go out and see the borders today, because yesterday, they had spent all day collecting bedding for the elders. Ashpaw's mentor, Duskpelt and Lightpaw's mentor, Crystaltail, were going hunting, but Tigerpaw was glad that she was not going with them. They had been arguing alot recently. "Are you ready, Tigerpaw?" Lionpelt said. His voice was kind and strong. He was the deputy of Blood Clan. "Yes, Lionpelt." Tigerpaw said. Lionpelt padded out of camp, with Tigerpaw following behind him. The area was dark and covered with pine trees. It felt nice under the shade of the trees. "Its nice out here, Lionpelt." she said, looking around. She saw a squirrel. "Lionpelt." she whispered, so the squirrel didn't hear her. "There's a squirrel over there." She pointed to the squirrel with her tail. "Good job." he said. "Now watch me. You must learn from this." he said as he quietly and slowly crepted up to the squirrel. Suddenly, the squirrel noticed him, but it was to late. He had pounced, and had already delivered the killing bite. It hung limply in his jaws. He dug a hole, and dropped it in. He covered it up with some dirt and turned to Tigerpaw. "That is how you catch a squirrel." he meowed. Tigerpaw had seen every move Lionpelt had taken and stored it to memory. "Ok, I think I got it," she said. "Are we going to see the borders now?" she asked. "Yes, Tigerpaw." He led her to where the pine trees stoped. They were near a river. On the far left was a waterfall. "On the other side of the river is Dark Clan territory." he said. The river was beautiful. It was shining brightly with the reflection of the sun. "Wow." Tigerpaw breathed. "The river looks so nice!" "Sometimes, if its hot out, we take a patrol and cool off in the river." he said. "Se those rockes in the middle of the river? We like to lie on those and sun ourselves." "It must be nice." She said, gazing longingly at the rocks. "But its to cold right now. It might be approaching Newleaf, but there is still one moon left of Leafbare." he said. "We should go see the other borders. We should be back before nightfall." They padded off through the pines. It had started to snow, but the pines blocked out most of the snow. They came out of the pines and saw a vast, white landscape. "That is Frost Clan territory." He meowed. "It must be freezing over there. There's no shelter from the snow!" she said. "It is true." he began. "But they shelter in rabbit holes when it gets too cold, like now." They stayed there and looked at the snow, gleaming with the sun's reflection. "We better take a look at the last border." he said. They walked for awhile, until they reached a place where the pines disapeared and oaks and other trees started. "That is Fire Clan territory." he mewed. "They are called that because of the constant forest fires in their territory." She spotted some burnt trees and some blackened stumps. "Wow. Those must be some powerful forest fires to cause that much damage." she meowed. "I think we should be getting back to camp now." he said. They padded back to camp. Lionpelt went over to where they had burried the squirrel and dug it up. The went into camp and Lionpelt dropped it on the fresh-kill pile. "You did some good work today. Go get something to eat and rest well. Tomorrow we will go hunting." he finished as he took a vole and padded off to the warrior's den. She chose a plump mouse and went over to the apprentice den to eat. When she had finished, she found her nest, curled up, and went to sleep.
