Black paws found their place atop the Jaggedrock once more as Sablestrike readied himself. The constant stream of newborn kits had finally let up recently, allowing the nursery to return to its spacious form once more. Today, he would offer his own assistance.
"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"

Cardinalkit was not nervous, not even in the slightest. In fact, she was more annoyed that it had taken this long for her apprentice ceremony to finally be brought up by the higher ranks and promptly scheduled. It wasn't her mother's fault, though. Certainly it had to have been Sablestrike's. When the call rang out across camp and the Clan started to gather, the she-kit made her way forward and squeezed past those that were older and taller. They really needed to watch where they were sitting. It was her day, after all.

Catching the multi-colored kit in his sights, Sablestrike commenced the ceremony. "Cardinalkit, please step forward."
"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day on until you earn you warrior name you will be known as Cardinalpaw, and your mentor will be Lilyvalley. She is a seasoned warrior, and a mentor to one of my own. I am confident she will guide you well, just as she is doing with Willowpaw."
Briarpaw had been apprenticed just days before her siblings, and now she was impatiently awaiting for them to be made apprentices as well. Sablestrike and Leopardstar had finally let her out of the nursery, so her littermates couldn't be that far behind, right? Spotting Cardinalkit in the crowd, Briarpaw tried to give her sister an encouraging smile, though she was focused on getting to the front. Briarpaw couldn't blame her for that.
Finally, finally Cardinalkit was made an apprentice. Briarpaw purred, padding up to her sister with a grin, "About time, yeah? And you got Lilyvalley as a mentor, she's nice! Maybe our mentors can take us patrolling sometime soon!" She hoped that being apprentices together would let them spend more time together again.
