Myrtlebloom Tier 2 Warrior | Skyclan | She/Her
Myrtlebloom made her way through the forest with her apprentice following behind her. She looked up at the tree; leaves were starting to cover the branches and little flower buds clung to some of the branches as well. “Today we will be sparring, are you ready?” She mewed coming to a halt in a slight clearing.
She studied her apprentice for a few moments before taking a few steps back and getting in a defensive stance. “The first attack is yours.” Myrtlebloom was sure the young tom would give it his all and she was prepared to give in sight where needed. Huh. First move.
The delicate dance of new flowers and flighted birds was a taunting distraction among high-drawn branches; the gentle rhythm of newly discovered flight and rustling leaves living in a silly, twin resonance to Hawkpaw's freshly-nervous heart. It wasn't as though Myrtlebloom in particular made him any semblance of nervous, as he quite enjoyed his mentor for the most part, but he did want to succeed if at all possible- especially when the voracious sting of freedom was still so sharp and poignant upon his tongue. It was especially difficult to tune out the rushing world of distraction that unfolded all around him, a thin-wrought resistance to the gently guided instruction given to their endeavors.
First move. "Of course," Hawkpaw mewed, dutifully trying to settle the anticipatory thump of his eager blood- sensory input rushing to maximum filament at the prospect of learning something new, showing off what little skills could be acquired early in life. Carefully settling his weight down upon his haunches, the young tom took another liminal heartbeat to assess the situation. Like playing with an older denmate, range and speed would remain his closest metric for any sort of chance at advantage. The abrupt, alabaster gleam of teeth was the only stark announcement to Hawkpaw's sudden move at Myrtlebloom.
Sparring Match Initiated!

The young tom was smart in his movement and if Myrtlebloom wasn’t expecting an attack she would’ve been surprised! “Good job, again!” Myrtlebloom chirped after smacking her apprentice’s shoulder.

The perilously thin tendrils of control, drawn to straining-point and stretched to razor-thin dimensions, gave way abruptly.
The cheerful praise offered by Myrtlebloom settled wild and hot in the thunderous cavern of Hawkpaw's chest; all attempts at melding together a cohesive battle strategy melting away with the worldly grace of early summer gnats. He didn't immediate fall flat on his face, thank the stars! It was good to know that, even in all his graceless fumblings at the newfound demands of trying to do everything right, it would probably be rather difficult to thoroughly disappoint his mentor. Respiratory system fluttering pointedly under the stress
"Watch this!" Hawkpaw eagerly challenged, completely awash in the anxious anticipation of continuing to uphold the limited luck of the early hour- even at the residual phantom ache of tension lingering soft and shallow in the fine muscle of his previously-struck shoulder. With a faint grunt of effort, the dark-furred tom suddenly launched himself at Myrtlebloom, unpracticed and untried in his attempt to bowl over the older molly. To an idling observer, it would probably look as though a curious dust-storm of flailing paws and tails had blown through the chilly early morning forest.

Myrtlebloom was shocked by the hold the young tom had on her. A smirk formed on her lips, ‘He is just an apprentice and already shows great strength! He will make a great warrior.’ She didn’t struggle to reserve her stamina.

He did it!
A familiar shading of awkward uncertainty framed the delicate musculature of Hawkpaw's shoulders, movements untried and untrue as he firmly remained positioned atop his mentor. Even though Myrtlebloom didn't bother with the subjective waste an attempted struggling, it was still a shocking expenditure of effort on his behalf to remain in proper form- who knew battles were so quickly tiresome? Kinked, red-dusted pelt bristled up and outwards in various degrees of unpleasantness, the young tom delegated an impressive amount of focus on remaining continuously firm in his attempt to pin Myrtlebloom.
He did it... now what?
"This is," Hawkpaw puffed, not entirely used to the strenuous pulse of his heart thundering in his chest, "harder than I assumed it would be."
Hawkpaw continued used Leap & Hold, Dealing -6 in Damage & Costing -15 in Stamina! Leap & Hold pin in effect for ONE MORE OPPONENT POST!

Myrtlebloom waited until there was a shifting of weight from her apprentice before she attempted to move. He moved ever so slightly and that was the break she was looking for. An abrupt shove from her shoulder sent the young tom stumbling back a short distance. She stood and shook the dirt from her pelt.
As quickly as she had shoved him off, she was turning to snap at his flank. He had done well, but she needed him to know that battles were never one sided. She pulled away from the younger cat and gave a slight huff. “You did well, I think you training is coming along nicely!”
