Subject: Orchidkit's Apprentice Ceremony Thu 22 Feb 2024 - 19:37
"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, please gather in the shadow of the Jaggedrock for a Clan meeting!"
The deputy let his voice ring out over the bustling camp calling all that heard him to attention. Shadowclan was growing, flourishing even at this point. With Pineblossom's litter leading the charge Shadowclan would soon have just as many warriors as it once had, and their numbers would be a great boon in keeping Windclan away from what was rightfully theirs.

It was urgent. She woke up from her nap and immediately rose to her paws.Oh my stars, I have to be there! Orchidkit scrambled her way out of the nursery covered in bits from her nest, bounced her way to her 'rightful' area in the clearing near her father, and looked up at the deputy with wide, interested eyes. What is it going to be this time, Sablestrike? She pondered desperately, imagining a hunting patrol with her at the head. Or - or maybe it's Batkit's ceremony! Err, maybe it's about WindClan? Shes heard cats whispering about it a lot.
She looked up at her father, Crowtalon, for reassurance. There was a weird knowing glint in his eye that she didn't like and she flicked her bushy tail in annoyance. A little frustrated at the unknown, she returned her gaze to the deputy with wide fascinated eyes. I want to know too. This is not fair!

Sablestrike stared at the stream of kits that came from the nursery, each on thinking that this day would be dedicated to them. One of those kits was right. "Orchidkit, please step forward."
"You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to begin your life as an apprentice. From this day on until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Orchidpaw. Your mentor will be Larkshine. Though she is a new warrior I trust she will guide you well."
Larkshine was returning from her walk in the marsh when she heard Sablestrike call a meeting. She raced to Jaggedrock and sat down near the front. She waited quietly as Sablestike spoke. Her eyes scanned over the excited kits. It wasn't long ago that she had been sitting there, waiting to become an apprentice and yet it seems like it was forever ago. She had just become a warrior, but she was still always excited for ceremonies and meetings.
A smile swept over her face, when Orchidkit's name was called. She didn't really know the young cat, but she had seen her here and there when she passed by the nursery den. She seemed to be a curious and adventurous kit, much like Larkshine had been. Her smile was quickly replaced by wide eyes and her lower jaw fell slightly in shock. Did she hear Sablestrike right, was her name really called? Her head twisted to the left and right, her golden eyes scanning the clan, as if looking for a different Larkshine. She finally realized it wasn't a mistake and quickly jumped up and padded over to her new apprentice.
"Congratulations, Orchidpaw!" She mewed, gently pressing her head against the young she's head and briefly closing her eyes. Larkshine opened her eyes and took a step back, "I will give you today to celebrate and we'll start training tomorrow afternoon, Ok?" Her eyes met Sablestrike's and she gave him a smile and nod, as if saying she wouldn't disappoint him or the clan. She flicked her tail in excitement and tried to dismiss the anxiousness that rose in her chest. Discord: ChaoticCrow | Timezone: Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) | Code (c) Kieer

Orchidkit's eyes widened with shock as her name echoed through the clearing. She blinked up at Sablestrike, her heart pounding her chest and her tail twitching nervously. "Me?" She asked in a hushed tone. Why me? She couldn't believe her ears, but a quick glance at her father told her everything she needed to know - who nodded with pride lingering in his eyes. She jumped to her paws, beaming. This was it. She padded forward.
Her mind was too busy racing over the rest of the ceremony, but she had heard it a handful of times before as apprentices gained their names. She was too busy trying to process 'Orchidpaw', the fact she was already six moons and decide whether or not she'd be a skilled hunter like her father. Unfortunately, this meant she had no idea who her mentor was. The confusion was obvious on her face as she glanced around, scanning the gathered cats, in search of the identity of her mentor. Oh stars, what have I done?
"Congratulations, Orchidpaw!"
Oh! There she is! I think! Her eyes had settled on a she-cat approaching with a smile. Larkshine? Her voice held warmth and her presence was strangely reassuring. She leaned into her gesture, releasing a soft purr. Now that she was no longer confused, she was excited! What would her training entail? What would they do? Would we learn how to be a shadow like Swiftheart kept implying? I wonder what that means!
"Thank you, Larkshine!" She squeaked, dipping her head respectfully - like her mother taught her to. "I will make you proud."
