Nectarflower trotted cheerfully across Windclan's vast moor, her eyes bright with determination. She'd been selected for the first time ever to lead a hunting patrol of her own and by Starclan she was not going to mess this up! Usually, it was the older warriors that Sootstorm and Tigerstar entrusted with providing for and protecting the clan, but perhaps all of her hard work lately had really been impressing them? Either way, it was an honor to be given such a privileged.
Turning to address the patrol, Nectarflower sent two of the other members to search for prey in a nearby field of gorse, leaving just her and Pantherpounce standing at the center of the valley. "Come on, let's see if there are any rabbits around." She meowed, then gestured for him to follow her. As she led the way uphill towards the stump of an old oak tree, Nectarflower was suddenly reminded of her first interaction with the younger tom, way back when he was a kit.
She would never forget the panic that coursed through her when that hawk had grabbed and dropped him. He hadn't seemed to suffer too terribly from the incident, though, a small part of her would always feel guilty for the way that day had turned out. Perhaps that's why she'd never sought out the tom since...it was hard to look at him, to be honest, knowing that there was likely more she could have done to protect him all those moons ago. Luckily, before her thoughts could spiral too far, the fresh scent of rabbit wafted downhill.
Ears perked, Nectarflower signaled with her tail for Pantherpounce to be quiet and stalked across the broad side of the hill towards the source of the smell. It was an older rabbit, but she would take what she could get. Once she was close enough to give chase, the tortoiseshell broke from the cover, racing towards the fluffy-tailed creature before it could react. It kicked out, hind paws thumping against the ground in an attempt to propel itself away, but it was too late to flee. Swiftly, Nectarflower dispatched the rabbit with a firm bite to the back of its neck.
With a grunt, she lifted the fresh kill in her jaws, green eyes sweeping across the hill in search of Pantherpounce's distinct pelt. If he hadn't already caught something, she would let him have the next one, that was just too good of an opportunity to pass up.
(Nectarflower successfully caught a rabbit! -7 SP)

All Hail WindClan's Resident Libra

I don't live because I can't die, but I'm chained to something.
Pantherpounce padded alongside the rest of the patrol calmly and nodded silently as Nectarflower split the patrol in half. The tom didn't particularly enjoy thinking back to his kithood, but it was difficult to not remember his incident whenever he looked at the older she-cat. She had been there to witness the fall, and although he didn't blame her for it one bit, there was still no doubting that she was a walking reminder. He was unsure if she even remembered or if she thought about it when she looked at him as well, but that wasn't his place to consider. There were more important matters at paw: bringing food back to the Clan.
The warrior quieted his breathing as Nectarflower padded off to stalk a rabbit, and Pantherpounce was intent on watching before the scent of a hare hit his nose. He headed off in his own direction and kept his pawsteps light as he closed the distance between himself and his prey. The unsuspecting hare sniffed the air for a moment and the tom knew that he had to make a move quickly before it caught wind of his scent. He threw himself forward and watched as the hare made an attempt to scramble out of the way and toward freedom. Satisfaction flooded his pelt as claws and teeth closed around the furred creature. He looked back to see if he could still spot Nectarflower and gave the warrior an approving nod. "Nice catch." Pantherpounce told her, keeping his voice low in case any other prey was lingering nearby.
After a moment of searching, her gaze caught of Pantherpounce's familiar pelt and she padded his way, eyeing the hare between his jaws. With a hum of appreciation, she set down her own catch and began absent-mindedly scraping grass and earth over it to hide the scent from any nearby scavengers. "Thank you. That's a pretty nice catch you have yourself." She meowed, nodding to his hare. With any luck, the other half of the patrol was doing just as well.
Slowly, she found her mind wandering back to the accident from Pantherpounce's kithood once more. She'd avoided him ever since, had he noticed? Surely, he had by now. Flicking an ear, she turned to the tom, her paws kneading the ground with apprehension. There didn't appear to be any more prey around right now, so it should be fine if they took a short break. "How have you been doing? With everything that's happened?" It went unspoken, his devastating fall, but the tension hung in the air all the same. Nectarflower wanted to ask, wanted to check in, but how could she when she'd tried to ignore her hand in his injury?
It may have happened a long time ago, but that only made it more difficult to navigate. Pantherpounce certainly deserved the effort, but would he want it? Maybe he simply wanted to forget the whole thing? Nectarflower offered a comforting smile, content to let him lead the conversation. If he wanted to talk about it, he would. If not, she would accept it. But...there was no denying that it would feel a lot better to get everything off of her chest - to finally apologize.
