Don't stop till you drop [c]

The sun had just passed the midway point when Oliverain and Orchidmask left for a hunt. It shone brightly, causing the red and orange leaves to glow as they flipped around in the strong breeze. Cold wind felt quite nice on the she-cat's face, a kind reminder leaf-bare is coming. All the more reason to hunt. And I should get extra.

She kept her gaze on her paws, trying to keep them straight. It was only from the startling sound of wings flapping that Oliverain realized a couple of doves had been resting on a nearby branch. Her eyes followed the birds to a place higher in the tree, quite out of her reach. She sighed, stretching her paws to the low, thin branch and pulled it off. "Orchidmask do you think you could get those?" the ragdoll meowed, a yawn following by accident.

It was a nice afternoon, Orchidmask enjoyed the cooler weather that had been gracing the territories as of late.  The crispness of the air she breathed seemed to heighten her senses, she felt more alert and in tune with the nature around her, as if she had always been there alongside it.  Her thick pale coat would make for great protection when the snow arrived; she would be an asset to SkyClan during the coming leaf-bare, helping make up for the cats who didn't share her genetic advantage.  Her sister as well, and brother too.  They had all inherited Lynxpetal's long fur, this could be a chance to prove themselves even more as valuable warriors of SkyClan.  She was broken out of her thoughts though by Oliverain, who was pawing upward at a pair doves roosting on a tree branch.  She pondered her sister's question for a moment, looking at the tree trunk and at the branches before she nodded, face edged with its usual severity.  "I can try."

Moving carefully as to not alert the plump birds, Orchidmask crept around and leaped onto the tree trunk, gripping it with her claws and scaling it in quick jumps upward until she arrived near the branch where her quarry waited.  It seemed thick enough to hold her weight, but just barely.  She would have to be quick.  Blue eyes narrowing to concentrated slits, she waited until they had tucked their heads back to preen their feathers before she jumped from above, landing with her hind paws as her forepaws landed down on the bird's heads.  One of them she sunk her claws into, but the other she smacked down towards Oliverain, hoping that it was stunned enough from the blow for her sister to pounce.  "One's coming down to you!"  Balancing with her tail, she quickly nipped her own dove's spine before looking down, waiting to see if her sister's catch would be successful.
