Dandelionkit
It was a particularly mild day for leafbare, and the sun was high in the sky, melting the snow across the camp. Fluffy while clouds rolled lazily past, and Dandelionkit's mother had kicked him out of the nursery to go play. He sat alone off to one side of the camp, keeping close to the nursery in case she changed her mind. Big warriors were performing duties about camp, patching the camp walls, sending out patrols, returning with prey for the growing freshkill pile. Dandelionkit barely noticed the hustle and bustle, though, instead fixated on the clouds that rolled by in the sky. His strange golden gaze glowed even brighter in the sunlight, but his expression was vacant and faraway as he stared into the sky, lost in thought.
"Fluffy," he purred quietly to himself.

It was a beautiful day, one of the best Cricketkit had experienced so far. His mother nudged him out of the nursery, pushing him to go do something other than sit around. He needed to strengthen his limbs, get them up to par with the other kits' so he could function properly. Even if he was missing a leg, he couldn't let it show. That's what his mother always told him, and that's what he repeated to himself in his head as he limped out into the sunlight.
As usual, the camp was all hustle and bustle, and Cricketkit hesitated a moment to look around. He wasn't entirely sure what to do first, until his gaze landed on one of his denmates. Dandelionkit, he remembered. The little tomkit was gazing up at the sky with a rather vacant expression. Cricketkit smiled to himself and hobbled over. "Hi," he purred, sitting down next to Dandelionkit. "What are you lookin' at?"
He craned his neck up to see exactly what his denmate was staring at and realized it was just the clouds. Oh, but Dandelionkit was right, they were nice and fluffy. Cricketkit admired them for a moment, a little grin on his face, before he looked back at the yellow kit. "That one looks like a flower, don'tcha think?"

Dandelionkit was vaguely aware of his denmate's presence, his gaze unbroken from the sky. He watched them slink by slowly, passing over the sun and casting shadows upon the camp. Never stopping, they continued to slither on, the sun beaming down once again, bright and warm on the kit's pelt.
That one looks like a flower, don'tcha think?
Dandelionkit broke his trance to look at his denmate - he couldn't quite remember his name - as he watched the clouds alongside him. Doesn't he think I'm strange? he wondered, his golden eyes sparkling with interest as he looked up once more to find the flower-shaped cloud in question. He's right, he thought, impressed.
"Flower," he agreed, nodding his head slightly. Then, he reached out with one paw, stretching up and up, and up, onto his hind legs, as if trying to touch the flower-cloud.

Cricketkit was the last cat to think anyone else strange; he was disabled himself, why place that kind of judgement on someone else? Dandelionkit looked over at him and he smiled back, giggling softly as the other kit tried stretching up as if he could reach the clouds.
"I think those're too high," he mewed. It did look like fun, though, pretending that one could touch the sky, so Cricketkit raised himself up as well, balancing as best he could on his one hind leg to paw at the flower-cloud. If he balanced his weight just right, he could prop himself up on his haunches just like Dandelionkit. The thought of that, that he could do something an abled cat could, made him very happy.

"Yes," Dandelionkit replied simply, "But it looks soft." He watched from the corner of his eye as his littermate mimicked him, raising up, pretending to touch the sky with him. A warmth flooded through Dandelionkit, knowing another kit was interested in trying the same things as him. Maybe I'm not so strange after all, he pondered. Or maybe he's just weird, too.
Dandelionkit turned to his denmate, curiosity piqued. "What's your name?" He asked. Maybe this kit could be his friend. All the other kits had friends. Dandelionkit didn't quite understand what made kits friends with one another, but maybe this was the kind of thing.

Cricketkit nodded in agreement. "It does look soft!"
Dandelionkit turned to him now and asked him his name. The tuxedo kit grinned, unable to hide a giggle at the thought. He knew his denmate's name, but his denmate didn't know his. It wasn't a mean laugh, he was genuinely amused. He decided right then and there that he liked Dandelionkit. He was silly and funny.
"I'm Cricketkit," he purred. "You're Dandelionkit, right?"
